The more education I get, the less decisive I become

I remember getting my first assignment back from a lecturer at University, when I was 19 years old. Comments such as "too dogmatic, too dismissive". So I learnt to 'look at both sides fairly'. Then I learnt to hedge my bets, use the grey area language, respectful academic style language, which can be so dry and politically correct, it becomes devoid of meaning. Biased? :)

I'm an inventor of some sort and upon studying the rules of patenting, I discovered there are certain inventions that can never patented:

- Mainly inventions that appear to violate the laws of nature.

Such notion actually contradicts quantum level physics in that the laws of nature are routinely violated at the quantum level. It's an obsolete/out-dated ruling! I have an invention based on quantum level phenomena that may appear to violate the laws of nature.

What now? So I couldn't patent it. I even presented the concept to a forum staffed by PhD holders from respectable research institutions in USA like MIT and I was swiftly dismissed and banned.

I have other plans to get my invention to public attention.

My point is that the academia does have some very ugly sides to it. They are not objective all the time, even unfairly biased, very close-minded, corrupt(!), elitists/too proud all of which are counterproductive to the advancement of science and technology.

If you have something quite radical, expect to be like Jesus facing the Pharisees. The Pharisees are like the religious academia of the Jewish culture in the day. If it's not too mind-boggling, it's okay, else it's heresy!

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." —Bertrand Russell
Yeah I have heard this one before. I'd like to think that quote validates me but then I see far more successful people with less education, thriving! :)

There is some truth in this. I look at my siblings who are decisive and pragmatic, they have less education.

I don't think there is anything wrong with education, so long as it is based on the principles of Gods word. A preacher used to say that educating an unsaved person just turns them into a clever devil.

That preacher was a fool.

And your "god's word" is nothing more than men writing things down and claiming that their writing is divine.

Education is the process by which we free ourselves of ignorance and the errors of other men.

I used to believe generally the same thing you stated here until one day when I was 27 years old God began to reveal Himself to me, and led me to the scriptures which He supernaturally validated to me as His word. Before that, I couldn't understand Gods word, but it began to open up to me and the power of it changed me. I had tried every teaching and religion and philosophy of the world, and none of it changed me, but Gods word changed me. God transformed me into a different person through His word. When the bible talks about being born again, I experienced that. I am a brand new person in Jesus Christ. If you open yourself to what God wants to reveal to you, you will discover the same thing that people of every walk of life for thousands of years have already discovered; that Jesus Christ is alive, and He has the power to save you and transform your life.

Save the preaching friend. Be comfortable with your own beliefs, but don't think others will buy what you are selling.

Depends what you mean by "thriving" friend.
OK bro
-smiling
-wearing nice clothes
-happily married
-retired early and now doing their hobbies
-not spending time debating on Internet forums
-no attitude from 'being educated'
-good quality friends

Generally, education is good. It's still better to have it vs none.

The challenge is basically to be highly educated but not be cast into its mold because education won't be true against reality all the time and there's a lot of things about reality that is not taken up in education.

God validates His word, so I don't have to worry about it. I can understand where you're coming from though, having been on the other side of the fence.

Some of the things they teach in schools leads people farther away from God, unfortunately. And that is by intelligent design

It's hard to call that thriving.

Knowledge is what feeds the soul, not ignorance. They may look quite alive and thriving outside but if the soul is starved, dying, dead, it doesn't profit anyone.

I studied in a secular high school and college but they never brought that up, especially topics about evolution or the "Big Bang Theory". It never became part of our curriculum.

Guess I'm lucky.
