Now, thank you for stating correctly that God does the work of making us alive. That is the moment of salvation. Our response after salvation is a wonderful reaction to God's gracious choice.

Sadly, many people imagine that saying the "sinners prayer" makes them a Christian. There is no biblical evidence for this. There is no magic incantation, which invokes God's salvation. There are many many people who are trusting in their prayer without ever having been made alive by God. This is why we see so many Arminians and Pelagians turn to Atheism as a choice from the grocery shelf after God didn't grant them their wishes.
