  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can the grace of God be resisted by some yet received by others?

If you don't 'come' to Jesus, there is no salvation.

Excuses do not nullify the words of Jesus, Menno.
It's noticeable that you and bling have no ability to grasp how dead men cannot respond. You both have talked around it or ignored it.

What is it that you reject about being dead in trespasses and sins? What is it that you reject about God making people alive?

I make no excuses for God or for God doing the work of saving people.

No dead person can hear.

No dead person can see the Light.

God must make you alive. God must make you hear. God must make you see.

No matter how much people desire to be in control of their salvation, the fact is that God is in control and you are not.

Jesus DID NOT say they can't see the Light; He said they hate the Light and do not come to it. Jesus also said this -

John 5

39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; these that testify about Me;
40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Even those who think they have eternal life are UNWILLING to COME to Him that they may have life.

Since you can't/didn't respond to Jesus' words of 'coming to the Light', are you calling yourself dead?

Again, you play foolish games and refuse to comprehend what has been said. How is it that you cannot comprehend?

As the Bible states, I was once dead in my trespasses and sin, but God (do you comprehend the term "but God") made me alive in Christ. I am eternally grateful to God for picking me, a dead man, out of my sins and making me alive.

You play such silly games as you desperately attempt to wrench God's authority out of His hands and then claim it for yourself. Why do you love yourself so much?

Menno, salvation is not a game. You can't be made alive apart from Him. You must 'come' to Him that you may have life.

Are you unwilling to 'come' to Him? How will you have life without willingly 'coming' to Him? Don't you see a man must be WILLING to 'come' to Him to have life?

You still have time!

Glad you admit that God must make you alive. You admit God's choice. Why then are you arguing?

The rest of your post is meaningless.

Thanks for finally admitting that God does the work of making us alive.

After that point of salvation everything afterward is our response of gratefulness to God.

You mistake sanctification for salvation. These are two different things and they are distinct from one another.

Your version is no different than the message Paul tells the Galatians to reject.

Why can't you see that you must willingly 'come' to Jesus to have life? You are going around in circles to deny Jesus' words of life. Jesus' words just have no meaning to you. You want salvation your way, and not the way Jesus said. Jesus' words will judge you if you don't heed them. The Spirit says come, but you will have nothing to do with it.

You do not have life if you don't do it the way Jesus taught. You still have time.

This, above, is what you struggle to comprehend.

A dead person has no will and cannot move. A dead man cannot come to anyone, let alone Yeshua.
Yeshua, must give us life.

You admit that Yeshua must give us life, yet you keep insisting that people come to Christ on their own before being made alive.

How is it that you cannot see your own contradiction, which nullifies your argument?

You, yourself, argue against yourself when you admit that God makes us alive.

You have shown yourself to be wrong and yet you cannot see how.

Quit struggling with, and resisting the Spirit.

I never said one must come to Christ on their own before being made alive; this is the drawing of God. Jesus said you must be willing to 'come' to Him that you may have life. I don't see how much clearer that can be. However, you choose as you wish, for this is the desire of your heart. Let me give it to you one more time in hopes of you seeing it.

Menno, my time with you is over for now. The Lord has permitted me this time with you, in hope of you seeing the truth from His word. He has not given up on you, for He is patient with you. But He will send others in your life to confirm what He says about being taught and learning what He teaches you.

I pray you soften your heart with humility so you may receive the grace of God. God bless.

A perfect example of cherry picking verses, Ew. You have to do that to create the myth narrative. Do you realize that Satan used the word of God like you do?
Now, thank you for stating correctly that God does the work of making us alive. That is the moment of salvation. Our response after salvation is a wonderful reaction to God's gracious choice.

Sadly, many people imagine that saying the "sinners prayer" makes them a Christian. There is no biblical evidence for this. There is no magic incantation, which invokes God's salvation. There are many many people who are trusting in their prayer without ever having been made alive by God. This is why we see so many Arminians and Pelagians turn to Atheism as a choice from the grocery shelf after God didn't grant them their wishes.

So, again, get behind me...

Spiritually dead men can not see the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. They are blinded in their minds by the god of this world.
You must be able to see Christ as the Son of God, and this is only by way of revelation from the Father.

Truth is you must be born again first to see the Kingdom of God.
So then, regeneration comes before faith.
Which also means God regenerates (makes alive) us who were dead so the we can see and experience and know Christ as Lord, and not just as some crazy man or prophet. Otherwise how will a mind blinded by Satan ever be saved.

John 3:2-6New King James Version (NKJV)
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

How difficult this is for you.

Look at your sentence and see how backwards it is.

No dead person can move toward Yeshua. Yeshua must come to that dead person and animate them to life.

There is no will in a dead man.

Yeshua says you're wrong. The sentence is not backwards; it's exactly as Yeshua said it. You so desperately want to change it and make it say what you desire and make Him a liar.

No he doesn't. Yeshua shared through Paul that we were dead in our trespasses and sins, but God made us alive in Christ.

You have twisted the order to make yourself important when you aren't.
I truly wonder why you want the right to pat yourself on the back rather than give all the glory to God for his act of grace. Why is that?

Menno, let me give other translations.

ESV - 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
ASV - 40 and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.
CJB - 40 but you won’t come to me in order to have life!
GNV - 40 But ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
KJV - 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
NIV - 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
RSV - 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
YLT - 40 and ye do not will to come unto me, that ye may have life;

The bottom line is - You refuse to 'come' to Him, you do not have life.

Again, what is the context and the persons Yeshua is speaking about? Your cherry picking has become old. It is clear you would rather hold to your position than accept the Sovereign authority God declares.
I won't waste anymore time on your nonsense.

Since you will not 'come' to Jesus to have life, this must be speaking to you.

You still have time, if you are willing to 'come' to Him! Don't reject the Sovereign Lord's words.

And by the way, the words of the Savior Himself are not nonsense.
