  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can the grace of God be resisted by some yet received by others?

Here's your fail. You assume that the lost sheep are all of Israel. But you should cross check with John 10. Jesus clears up the whole sheep thing.

Do you think the lost sheep were aliens from Mars? Jesus said they were of the house of Israel. Do you disagree with Him?

Have you not read this from Luke 15?

4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

Does Jesus not seek to save the lost sheep of the house of Israel? You think He fails. Is the what Calvinists mean by Sovereign God?

If you commit a crime, should the judge just let you go free because you say you're sorry? Or, do you still receive the sentence prescribed despite the remorse?

According to the Righteous Judge, it's not just saying you're sorry. It's repenting for the forgiveness of sins and living a life according to your repentance.

If the judge decides to pardon, is it not the judges choice, not the criminals?

We have to see what the Righteous Judge says, don't you think?

Luke 24
46 And said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

What do you think remission means? We can certainly see what Strong's says about remission.

  1. release from bondage or imprisonment

  2. forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty
If a man repents, he will be released from imprisonment, pardoned of his sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), and receive remission of the penalty.

Do you now see how the Righteous Judge decides to pardon?

God the Son, took God the Father's wrath for the penalty of my law breaking. The sentence of death was completed by Yeshua. I can never repay that act. I am eternally grateful.

That's not what the Righteous Judge says. He says to repent for the remission of sins and its penalty.

And, yes, for dead men the Bible means nothing to them. Do you wonder why the message of the Bible makes most humans hate God? They are dead in their sins. They cannot understand.

Do the words of the Righteous Judge mean anything to you? Do His words of repentance surpass your understanding?

It takes God to open their eyes and make them alive.

No doubt. He opens man's eyes, so man will see the truth of coming to the Light, see the truth of keeping His commandment so man will live, and see the truth for repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Who is Israel?

God promises that not one of His chosen will be lost. Thanks for sharing this passage as it truly argues for the chosen. As Paul says, " Not all Israel is Israel."

You have just argued for works salvation.

They were from the house of Israel. And He did come to seek and save them. I believe He was 100% successful. You don't.

How about that? Not all are Israel because they were cut off because of unbelief.

Perhaps you forgot about Judas. Please show us where he wasn't chosen.

How about that? I give you scripture and you want to deny it.

Acts 26:20
But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and DO WORKS meet for repentance.

Was He successful in saving Judas? Was He successful in saving all the Pharisees?

They were never the Israel of God.

You conflate Jesus choice of disciples with salvation. They are not one and the same.

Judah was created to do exactly what he did and fulfill God's ordained will. Do you despise Go's for His choice?
God hated Esau and hardened Pharaoh's heart. Read Romans 9.

That is the message, but only the chosen will respond to God's call.

We do not know whom it is that has called. We are to be obedient. God will ensure that every child of his comes to salvation.

I know you are struggling with God's sovereign act of grace and mercy displayed only to his elect. I was once where you are. I just kept reading my Bible and kept seeing God choosing from Genesis to Revelation. I had to stop fighting God's word and let it say what it says.

Obviously Judas wasn't a sheep. Nor the Pharisees. Have you not been paying attention?

So they weren't of the house of Israel? What do you do with 'Jesus came to His own and His own received Him not"? Who are Jesus' own? Are the sheep not His own?

This is a total assumption on your part.

We do not know whom it is that has called. We are to be obedient. God will ensure that every child of his comes to salvation.

Why be obedient? So you do have to do something to secure your salvation.

Who are Jesus' own who did not receive Him?
6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,
7 and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." - Romans 9:6-7
