I do not date set the return to earth because I don't know ... But I believe his Holy Spirit will be poured out in those days and we will begin to prophecy and dream dreams and see visions again of things to come

i do believe the rapture can be found in the events of Jesus ressurection and Ascension and the counting down of jubilees but I know that is just a theory ... To have theories is foolish?... Ok if that is what you believe ..

As for sending prophets in the future we know 1444000 will be sealed and Enoch and Elijah comes before the terrible day of the lord ... So at least 7 years of warnings signs and wonders even angels flying overhead preaching the gospel and warning of Babylon destruction and warning gods people to come out of Babylon and angels warning against taking the mark of the beast ...

So now you're saying date-setting is a theory? Regardless, call it whatever you want, but date-setting is foolish. I've already pointed out the verse that makes this clearly obvious.

So we should just remain in darkness unaware of the things of God or should we seek and find the answers to such things?... If we seek shall we not find? Especially if the time is upon us?

Since you enjoy exercises in futility and do not seem to get the point that its not something we will ever discover beforehand, go find out what the seven thunders uttered in Revelation 10:3 .

No date setting .... no man can know when the Lord will beak in .... could be before this day is over

"go find out what the seven thunders uttered"

The 7 clustered judgments against the beast and his kingdom [Revelation 15:6-8; 16:1-14]

The most intense of the Lord's judgments which will lead up to the battle of Armageddon

And when seven years comes and goes without the appearance of the King of Heaven what then?

Jesus cleared all this up when he was on earth. No man knows the day or time of his return.
He said people look for him in passages of scripture and yet when he himself spoke they were not readily able to receive the truth.
Now all we have are passages of scripture and the voice of his inward sealed holy spirit and still we set to our own ideas and read not the truth he spoke when he was here. No one knows.

No one knows the bank balance of those authors on the market place shelves that write books promising his return. Balances generated due to people who would rather read a book than listen to Jesus himself. Scriptures abound that tell us not even the Angels know when Jesus will return. Have a look.

It's silly to speculate and always years into the future when people will have forgotten the pegged date of Christ and his return once that date arrives. Because the book will be off the sellers lists. Discarded in a paper recycling bin. Or laying on its back on a top most shelf of a personal library collecting dust.
Ever notice that tendency ?

Published speculators always without exception project Jesus will return years into the future. Years will pass and people will forget about that assumed date. This way no one can likely look back at the speculator and ask, what happened?Where's he at?

Then we are seven years closer and the window closing fast. I don't think we are that far away from the little horn and the EU becoming a ten leader form of Government, not seven years away imo.

I was invited to a local Bible study by a community organizer in the new housing development that borders my yard here. This was last week.
Their topic for discussion that night was Eschatology. One of the ladies present closed the night with a suggestion for study of passages that relate to her proposed idea of our contemporary world and the Saint and our presence in it.

I'll bounce this into this discussion and see what you all think. My work schedule doesn't make it possible to make their Bible study one as regularly as they meet so as to find what they ladies discovered in passage study for next meeting. But what you all think is something I can read at leisure. I've not considered this before myself.

Here goes. This was her question.
What if all that concerns the church today in the world and as American's trying to survive in the secular quagmire that's only getting worse, is because we're living in the futuristic great tribulation period and we're not even aware of it?

Tell her this [Psalms 2; Matthew 24:36-39; Revelation 6:12-17]

These things will not be done in a corner

Let me know how she responds

The response to her question is that we are living in the last days, but not in the great tribulation period. The last days are characterized by the world filled with violence and homosexuality imposing itself. And that there would be business as usual, like in the days of Noah when the flood came and took them all away.

As far as being in the great tribulation now, the great tribulation period does not begin until the abomination of desolation (in the temple) takes place, Matthew 24:15.

And that does not happen until the 7 years begin, the confirming of the covenant by the person who becomes the Antichrist.

And that person does not confirm the covenant until after Gog/Magog takes place.

And Gog/Magog does not take place until after the little horn has come to power.

And the little horn does not come to power until there is a ten king (leader) kingdom (specifically the EU has to continue its evolution to its final form of government).

imo, the group is going about eschatology the wrong way. They should be studying about the arch villian and the stages he goes through from his beginning to his end.

Do you think the contemporary world and politic could be reflected in any of those precursors to the great tribulation? Speaking of the timetable of events you outlined. And that would be necessary to precede the great tribulation.

Some say little horn is the current Pope. The EU is over populated with the 7 number of kings currently. Maybe Gog and Magog are metaphorically strong dualism. Very open potent reprobate powers and the righteous powers. The coming to power demonstrated by the dissolute thoughts and proponents as activists openly striving to that end.
The righteous opposed. And the conflict is in the crossing over of righteous ideologies to the dual side. Making even the parts of the church betraying itself.

I really appreciate everyones contribution to her question.

I don't believe we're in the Tribulation yet, but I frankly expect it in my lifetime. The first thing Jesus warned about was false Christs (Matthew 24:4) and people being deceived. Then he talks about wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes. And Christians will be persecuted to death and many will fall away from the faith for various reasons (Matthew 24:9-13) but those who endure in their faith will saved. Matthew 24:4-13 looks a lot like the first six seals in Revelation 6. When the Tribulation starts, many people are not going to necessarily recognize the Beast as a false Christ. Otherwise, he wouldn't be an effective deceiver. That is why it is important to know and hold onto sound doctrine and works of obedience to Christ. Also, at some point, the False Prophet is going to come and require people to take a mark for buying and selling (and to worship the Beast). Many people are expecting they won't be here (Pre-Tribulation Rapture) when this happens, so perhaps they could deceive themselves that since they are on the earth, it can't be the Tribulation and it can't be the mark of the beast.

Would we be aware of the rapture should it happen? Those left behind to witness the ascension of others. Or to live with the sudden disappearance of people would set a panic into motion all over the globe.

Matthew 24 was said to be authored around 50A.D give or take ? The foretelling of the fall of the temple and Jerusalem happened in 70A.D. Was that the birth pangs? If so where are we now relative to all things that happen in God's time not our own as he's said.

The rapture happens when Jesus returns after the Tribulation (Matthew 24:29-31). People will be deceived by false returns of Christ in their strong desire to see the rapture (Matthew 24:23-28, Luke 17:22-24). The Church cannot bank on an escape from a world of persecution when the Bible teaches no such thing. If we try to save our lives (physically), we'll lose them (spiritually) (Luke 17:33), but if we lose our lives (physically) for Christ's sake, will preserve our lives (spiritually).

If you are a child of God, why would you not be aware of the Rapture, since you would be included in it? As to what would happen on earth, that would not be your concern. And nobody who is not saved will witness the Rapture or the ascension of the saints. As to date setting, that is totally unwise.
