You can doubt whatever you want, but it won't change the facts of the matter....

We can take a sample of your DNA and a sample of your supposed dad and determine with high accuracy wheter that person is your actual biological father.

Perhaps you should ask yourself how geneticists are able to determine that.

Do you not believe the evidence you see? If so, that would be called a belief, a truth establishing belief. How bout the opinions scientists have drawn on their evidence? Sounds to me like you do the exact same thing but somehow in your mind, either you just can't put that simple fact together or it's ok for you, but not others.

Beliefs and opinions are just that: beliefs and opinions.

A scientist's opinion/belief is just an opinion/belief as well.

Because your beliefs inform your actions.
Knowing that, I'ld prefer my fellow citizens to be rationally justified in their beliefs.
I'ld prefer them to believe as many true things as possible, and as little false things as possible.

Why can't you just be happy living your life the way you choose while letting others do the same?

Theists in our society are actively working to get their religious things validated in the public sphere. In a secular society, that just isn't acceptable.

But why is any of that important if we are simply gone after this life? If there are no actual lasting consequences to anything we do, and if we all just end up ceasing to exist, then none of that matters in the slightest.

After all, we are here and then we are gone, and no one really cares or can do anything about it, right?

So why bother living life in any particular way? We should all just live as we like, because no matter what we do or don't do, there is no real purpose or meaning to life.

(And that is the consequence of a truly Atheistic worldview)

Actually some of us can live a moral and fulfilling life without having the threat of some sort of supernatural judgement hanging over us. We can actually care about other people without needing instruction from a 2000 year old book.

Who said each individual cant assign their own purpose or meaning to their own life.

And, if this life is all we have that would if anything, increase the meaning and purpose of how we live it.
