• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, I was just responding to a question as to why I was not answering more of the questions on here. We all have to establish boundaries or limits in life. No one can do that for us, it is something we need to do for ourselves. I actually enjoy the analytical conversations on this forum. I believe the Bible is fully able to stand up to analytical scrutiny.
But you do read the posts people aim at you, right? Then if you have to pick one aspect of them to respond to, don't:
1. Just respond to the first sentence as if it is representative to the entire topic of the post. The first and last sentences of a post are the most likely not to represent the main topic.
2. Just quote the part you are responding to, as if the rest of the post doesn't exist. If you aren't going to respond to all of it, at least acknowledge that the rest still exists. The only times I remove parts of posts on purpose is if they are redundant or excessively off topic.
3. Respond off topic. It would be better if you didn't respond at all rather than waste both your own time and that of others participating in the discussion. It also can lead to thread closure.
4. Make multiple threads. These are the threads most likely to generate questions aimed at you. If you don't have the time to give them all the attention the topics require, only start one thread at a time, starting one after the previous has run its course.
5. Jump in every thread that has a topic that interests you. Your time is too limited to give them all the time they need.

There are some that believe rocks have consciousness, but I have not looked into that to much. It is more of the Native American Indian and Hindu or Buddhists beliefs.
No, panpsychism has been a well-respected tradition in Western philosophy. I am a panpsychist. I hold mind and matter are one. Also, I don't believe all experience need be conscious experience. I think atoms have tiny minds and can feel, but this is purely unconscious or subconscious feeling. They feel, but they do not feel their feelings. A rock has "feelings," but these are not conscious. Also, the rock is more like a loose democracy of minds than it is like an organism with but one mind.

You should get together with Juvy. He says that rocks are alive.

Cool picture.

Please demonstrate what it means, with specifics.

Wow, where to begin. The question is how did it evolve?

I need you to watch two videos...Guaranteed you'll like them. Seriously, you'll enjoy them whether you are an evolutionist or a creationist.

and

Once you have watched them we can discuss. bhsmte, I'll be waiting your reply.

God is definitely not a scientific question, to begin with. Science qua science is totally neutral on the question of God.

God most definately can be a scientific question. Watch the video's in the above post.....then we can discuss if God is a scientific question.

Then you need to provide the evidence for that, and the bible by itself is not gonna fly here.

Like I asked the other posters here...watch the two videos I presented for your scientific enjoyment....then we can discuss.

I guarentee you will enjoy them whether you are a creationist or evolutionist.

I don't have the time to watch some video. I am here to talk to you, not them. If you can't put it into your own words, I'm not interested. The fact of the matter is, God is not a scientific question, despite your appeal to some film.

There is nothing to discuss here. Had you done any course work at all in theology, science, and philosophy, you would readily recognize that God is not a scientific question.

So you don't have ten minutes? it's not like they're hours long.
Secondly I guarantee you'll enjoy them.

no, I'm not about to waste ten minutes on them. Instead of blowing me off, tell me in your own words what you learned from those films.

I see you as pretty shallow...or even afraid.

The videos show the complexity of life. But, if you refuse to take the time to watch them..and I guarantee you will enjoy them..I don't have much to say to you.

Casting aspersions on the character of others is a major no-no here. I've considerable education and experience in theology and related areas. I seriously doubt the video would add anything. If you want to talk about the argument from design as a proof for God, I'm willing. I'm already on top of that.

Do yourself a favor and quit bugging me here. Put it in your own words or forget it.

I find it hard to reply to your ignorance.

Watch the short videos. They say more than I could ever say.

If you can't watch the short videos...Our conversation is over. The videos are amazing and show how a cell works,,,if you want to remain ignorant to that...and be able to debate the issue....then so be it.
As i said, creationist or evo-minded...you'll love the videos as they show how a cell works, But, remain ignorant if that is your desire. It's tough to discuss this topic with the ignorant.

I'll watch the videos. My major is Biomedical Sciences, and I have been working towards it for 3 years. If aspects of these videos are demonstrated to be incorrect or flawed by me, would you be willing in the future that, even if you want to keep using this reference, you won't demand anyone watch them?

If you truly desire education..you'll watch the videos. The inner life of a cell is quite interesting.
I'm kinda disapointed that you as a christian would blow off my recomdation to watch the video......what do you have to lose??

Where are they flawed? In fact the one is made by evolutionist. So where are they flawed? I would like to know?

I must also ask, were they not pretty cool? Well done?
