• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Origin of God's Morality.

The Big Bang is not a "theory of the creation of the universe."
Would the term "birth" make you happier than "creation"? Or would some other word make you even happier?

If you are asking how the universe came to be, then we don't know.
Huh, I always thought the Big Bang Theory was accepted by most cosmologists as opposed to Steady State or some of the more recent (and unsupportable) hypothoses proposed. Rapid expansion from a singularity seems to explain most observable events in the universe....but this really should be discussed on a different forum, not apolgetics....

The Big Bang is well-established and accepted by most cosmologists, but in its present form it isn't a "theory of the creation of the universe."

Yeah, exactly. It's not what you think it is.

Evolution is probably one of teh best-supported theories in modern science. There are tons of proof. The fossils, the enormous age of the universe, the similarities in creatures, the fact that reality is all interconnected and in a continual state of flux.
Nope! I asked about Darwin's Theory specifically. I believe some form of evolution, just not Darwin's.

Yes, there is. The crux of the case you've presented thus far is an argument from ignorance:

Actually, you asked who determines whether what you do is good or bad. That is the wrong question, as I pointed out previously.
So, still not willing to answer the question. Right. I got that.

I already gave you my answer. You've barely touched it, so don't complain that no one has responded.
Can you point out where you answered it?

Only because she has been stripped of her power, thankfully.
Actually, not true. The Church NEVER had the power to force its views on anyone.
Former Catholic here.
If you were a Catholic and had paid attention, you might know the above to be true. In fact, it has always been against Catholic doctrine to force anyone to convert.

Each one of these things would have killed more then half the population if they occured 300 years ago.
They STILL kill equal numbers, just not the percentage you quote.
Go ask medieval europeans about the black plague.
Go ask those Africans who deal with ebola constantly, go ask those who work with AIDS, go ask those who combat malaria. Why is there so much more need for aid in Africa, if we've solved the hunger issues?
I don't feel threatened at all for my beliefs (or lack thereof).
A couple centuries ago, however, they would have burned me as a heretic.
Catholics didn't do that. Protestants did.
The EU was not about safety, but about economy primarily.
Yeah, they have a great economy, too.
