  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LDS Why do Mormons think all Christians are in apostasy?

How, I ask, is anything I said an "insult"?

I have *legitimately* encountered mainline Christians who had an easier time reciting material hostile towards other groups than in reciting the theology of their own denomination.
None of which are on this thread. So why do you keep repeating this unsubstantiated claim ad naseum? Are you trying to lift your credibility up because you can't address the actual topics?

Yes, and then taught truth.
As opposed to just calling them vipers over and over again like a broken record.
Then you haven't been paying attention. See the Jesus/Lucifer thread for example. Shame on you, again Jane. Bearing false witness like that. Again.

Via a complete lack of charity and a complete lack of respect? Instead favoring mockery and mis-information? Such is NOT a mission from Christ, nor befitting His followers.

No, and that's not what I said. I never excused a lack of charity.

But that technique is used. Frequently. On this very forum even. Do you find such behavior acceptable?

she is right about that, often instead of an debate there is mockery. I try to just pass over it and move on to the question at hand but once in awhile my righteous indignation gets the best of me.

(someone please tell me when I get there and their mixed up)

No. I never suggested so. The scriptures state that if you don't have charity you are a clanging cymbal.

Perhaps you are somewhat mistaken though and are angered because Mormon doctrine is being refuted.

No, I mean:

I am listening and I'm not condoning those bad actions. I am sorry that you feel you've been mistreated.

I am just saying that's it's possible that at times you were sensitive because the topic was Mormonism and that is your religion.

I don't appreciate when believers of any religion are mistreated by members of any religion.

I'd like to move the discussion back to the original topic.

Joseph Smith stated, "all their creeds are an abomination".

What specifically about the Apostle's Creed do Mormons find abominable?

Here is the text:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

There are recently a whole thread on LDS views of the creeds. Help yourself to it.

I'm referring you to a thread 100% devoted to it.

Well I don't see that thread. I'd like my question addressed here.

What specifically about the Apostle's Creed do Latter-day Saints find "abominable"?
