I am sinful, and I do need a savior. However, since I do nothing towards my own salvation and God has promised me salvation through Christ and given me faith, why will He suddenly withdraw that favor when I did nothing to deserve it in the first place?
Nowhere does the Bible ever say we are sinners (present tense) saved by grace. Believers are called saints in the Bible for a reason.
"And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
Therefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator."
(1 Peter 4:18-19).
The passage says we are to suffer the will of God to the
keeping of our souls in WELL DOING and not evil doing. It also says we suffer in well doing for the KEEPING OF OUR SOULS, too. Also, the context of this passage is in 17, which says,
"what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:17).
Who are they that do not obey the gospel of God? It is the ungodly and the sinner (Obviously).
Who are the righteous?
The Bible says, "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous." (1 John 3:7).
"He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8).
Paul says, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2 Corinthians 13:5).
Paul then says, "Now I pray to God that you do no evil;"
So if Paul is praying that you do not evil, then why are on Earth are you rejoicing in such a thing by saying you are a sinner?
The Bible says, "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." (John 3:20).
