Anything happen in 35,000,008 BC?
It is in the rocks. That you have to avoid the evidence in the Creation says alot.

I doubt Creationism plays much of a role at all. the evidence would suggest that the largest losses are to denominations that fully accept evolutionary theory. Doubtful that anyone left those churches due to Creationism. Someone earlier pointed out that there are many reasons people leave a religious denomination most of those are just simply not inspired by their former religious leaders or they disagree with new doctrine or new liturgical settings. People leave for frivolous or serious reasons but Creationism is not anywhere near the top of the list. In the last hour I would be surprised if anyone in particular was persuaded to leave their religious faith behind simply because of Creationism. they might change denominations for that or become unaffiliated with a denomination but dumping faith for unbelief is usually based upon something more basic to the human psyche than how and when the universe came into existence.
I was wondering how many pages of this discussion I would have to read before getting to something that actually made sense and wasn't simply name-calling those who disagreed with their stance on this topic. THANK YOU "grasping"! To everyone else on both sides, very poor job in stating any facts at all.
Sorry for my delay in posting I was unable to access my account. It is critically important to have a relationship with God and know He exists to stay a Christian. The Bible states this very clearly.First page by my count
What does it matter?
Hopefully we are about the truth of the Bible, not a numbers game.
Jesus said His words would be confusing except for those who are truly believers.
Also been used to justify slavery, segregation, banning interracial marriage, homophobia, genocide.....

Edit: Oh! Sexism and witch hunts.

You could make the same argument for every single religion. You don't believe in Zeus because you don't have a relationship with Zeus. You aren't muslim because you don't have a relationship with Allah. It smells an awful lot like a post hoc rationalization.
The Bible does not say that the earth is flat. What many people don't realise that the Catholic Church doesn't agree with creationism, but rather that God created an incalcuably old universe with infinitely more complexity than people once believed thousands of years ago. We know the world is not flat, is older than 6000 years, the heaven is not "above the sky" and the stars are not heaven showing through. We also know that the first part of Genesis has creation parables that explain God and were never intended to be literal history. The only country (as far as I am aware) where a large percetage of Christians believe in a young Earth is America.
I don't worship the bible, I worship God.
The Bible does not say that the earth is flat.
The Bible does not say that the earth is 6000 years old.
The Bible does not say that the heaven is "above the sky" since heaven & sky are the same word in Hebrew.
The Bible does not say "the stars are not heaven showing through." because there is no Hebrew word meaning star as we know it today. The Hebrew word for star actually would be better translated as 'point of light in the night sky'. but an entire sentence translation for each word is not practical.
Just like the word translated to heaven simply means anything above the ground. that includes the sky, inner space, & outer space.
It helps to understand that the ancient language of the Bible is not translatable using 21st. century science terms.
You worship the Christian God, how do you know who He is and know about Jesus and His death on the cross for us?
What I am trying to say is that creationism changes the way that people look at their fellow christians which can push them away from christianity.
And yet we have heard that Jesus is coming back at any second for the last 2,000 years.
Predictions and claims for the Second Coming of Christ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
People will use anything to justify just about anything. Ted Bundy was a serial killer and did it because he said if we evolved there was nothing wrong with what he did, he just was born that way.
It wouldn't push anyone away if they had a relationship with God and if they know He exists.
People can believe whatever they think the Bible says but ultimately if you don't at some point have revelation of God's existence you can fall away for a multitude of reasons.
Wikipedia...I didn't read it. I will but I know that if it is written by someone who doesn't understand what prophecy is for what period of time they will be confused.

I have yet to meet anyone that can demonstrate such a thing.
You could simply imagine that you "know" this "God".
And if God is only a character in a book it is all useless anyway.
I have no concerns of what the Bible purports to say in the absence of evidence that it comports with reality.
I am holding out hope that they will get it together!I'm not sure, but this new forum overhaul is going to drive me away from the forums for good. I can't stand it.
