Hi Nord
You said, "I believe in our hearts, when we finally understand once gaining some Biblical knowledge, and the Holy Spirit convicting us, we're going to want to turn from our sins. I'm dealing with a sin problem right now that I can't seem to shake. I'm giving in a lot less to it, but I've still yet to full repent of it. After 27 years of it, I didn't think it would go away overnight. For it's the people without faith, and have no interest in finding Lord Jesus and getting saved, are really the ones who are in deep trouble.
Oh, I know if I sin, I'm going to be admonished. I, along with everyone else is going to have to pay for what we do in the physical world. Nobody gets away with anything. And if someone is unsaved, well they've really got something to worry about! "
Well, Nord, we are to make no provision for the flesh. "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires" (Romans 13:14). It doesn't matter how long standing the sin is, we need to get rid of it, like a filthy rag! Remember, "If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened" (Psalm 66:18). Any sin not fully repented of elevates that sin above God in our hearts. It is an idol.
Yes, the lost are in deep trouble. But, it is very offensive to God that we as redeemed saints choose to hold onto a sin which His own Son had to die for. It so devalues the Gift of God. And, it gives place to the devil.
It is best to just look at our own walk and not try to compare ourselves with others. God does not grade on a curve.
Pray for the lost. Witness when you have the opportunity. But, know that if you have sin in your life, your power will be diminished, your clarity dimmed, your communication with God lessened and you will have allowed a HOOK in your life which Satan can jerk you around with.
Don't minimize the dangerousness of allowing a pet sin to hang around. Take no prisoners!!! Get completely free.
I agree, Renee. I know we're not to make a provision for sin. And time after time, I've dropped those sinful provisions, only to bring them back again, out of temptation. Like I said, 27 years of this, and I'm a single man. Don't get me wrong though, I know being single and alone is no excuse for me. I know I need Almighty Father God to get me through this. Easy? Well, I can go for sometimes two days without being tempted. Then all of a sudden, I'm bombarded with it! So easy? Unfortunately not.:o
Every time I give in, I don't feel good about it. Being lost in that fantasy world for a short time, brings on short term pleasure, but at at cost, I know. I know God is perfect, benevolent and hates sin. Like I mentioned before, that with God working through me, I have been able to give in less often. I have not been able to fully repent of that sin though.
I'd unknowingly been a puppet of Satan for many years. No, not one who would go out and commit violent or heinous acts. What he did use was my emotions against me. I was always a very sensitive person. He toyed with me to bring on negative feelings and thoughts. I feel a lot better now, once getting into Christianity, reading the Bible, and coming on here for instance. I also watch Dr. Charles Stanely's In touch every week. Really like him.
