  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In heaven, will we be without sexual desire...?

this is an interesting question. if we are not supposed to be able to have sexual desires in heaven then why would God create beings with sexual desires? the bible tells us that angels had sexual relations with humans and created giants. so if angels could do it then wouldn't we be able to do it in heaven also?

God bless
fallen ,perverted angels desires the things of man ..
he created with sexual desire as part of the directive to go forth the and multiply.
we are given a non flesh and blood body and are made one with the father the very dwelling place of God ..

I know it is all debatable HERE and now . but I do wonder why people would want there to be such desire .. I will keep believing the lords promise that there will be rest from all such strivings :)

What are you talking about?

The topic is: In heaven, will we be without sexual desire...?

We have one group of people saying yes, another group saying no.

So which group did you mean when you said to BryanW92 (who is in the "no" group): " I just want to show that heaven will not be a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion like you and other posters make it out to be."

How in the world did you get "a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion" out of BryanW92's comment?

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but the Christian church from it's very inception has been waging a no holds barred, unconditional war on sex. And yes, I said sex. Most wars are fought because of tyranny or for political or economic reasons but for some reason Christians just hate sex. Lets just look at the Catholic church as an example because they claim to be the original church and they illustrate my point quite well. The entire leadership of this church of over a billion people has banned sex. Every priest and nun and leader takes a vow of celibacy forever. They don't even see sex as acceptable in marriage, they just ban it outright.

Now what kind of message does this send to the irreligious and religious alike? I will tell you what message it sends and it is that sex is evil. Anyone who wants to be spiritual might as well just say goodbye to it forever. And what is the fruit of this kind of message? You see it right here on this forum with the poor souls who come on here like quivering bowls of jello because they saw some naked women on the internet. They have no outlet for their sexuality because they are constantly told that sex is evil and from the devil. Sex and sexuality are not evil, they are a normal part of life and it's high time that Christians learned that.

no ones saying it isnt a part of normal life within the boundaries God,in his wisdom, has set.
but we are not speaking of this life.
in heaven we are given new incorruptible bodies,we are in union with the holy spirit,we are not given in marriage so there is no procreation, thus no purpose for sexual activity,Its written that the old will be done away with.."behold i make all things new"...
so its not a stretch to arrive at the conclusion that in that new state with a new body in perfect unity ,a living dwelling place of the very spirit of God,that we will not have nor need sexual desire.

while to say we will have is a total stretch..

You do make a good point about the people publicly confessing their porn sins here on CF. I'm not really sure what their point is because we are told to confess before God. Confessing to other people accomplished nothing.

But, you seem to have a preoccupation with making unihibited sex a thing that is not a sin. What is your ideal? Is adultery a sin? How about fornication outside of marriage? Homosexual sex? Polygamy? Bestiality? Pederasty? Pedophilia?

If we declare all sex to be good and everyone has different desires, then who can say what is sin and what is good? You insist that the church must keep its morals away from your genitals, becuase they will do what they must do. You speak of sex as natural, but remember that "natural man" is an animal. He is the corrupted version of the man that God created in his own image.

So, it's "high time that Christians learned that". Learned what exactly: that our morals are outdated and that we should seek to live in secular society in a way that we have no influence? The bible tells us that we MUST not do that. Do you think that our faith is something that we should put on, like a hat, when we are in church or alone but then remove it when we are in the secular society so we don't offend the non-Christians with our morals?

Strivings? Sexual desire is strivings? Not in my experience. Paul describes the struggles of some burning with passion but Adam and Eve -- in their pure state before the fall -- showed no such behavior.

Some of these statements are exaggerations at best, with no basis.

"... the Christian church from it's very inception has been waging a no holds barred, unconditional war on sex." Really? Not in any church I've been in. If that were the case there would be very few Christians. Clearly Christians, including Catholics, reproduce sexually. How could there be billions of us if that wasn't so?

your picking at a part of a post and missing the over all point.

approach it another way... using a scripture only basis, what would be the purpose of sexual desire in heaven?

Then why have Catholics been traditionally known for large families?

What would be the purpose of any desire in heaven? Some desires, for example hunger, sleep, friendship, love, sex, are both pleasurable and beneficial. There doesn't have to be a purpose for them. I believe that only evil desires will pass away, and sex isn't one of them.

What's pleasurable about hunger? Have you ever been really hungry? It's painful. Nothing pleasurable about being sleepy, either; it's torture if you aren't able to actually sleep. Actually, being horny isn't particularly pleasurable either, if you can't have sex.

Sleeping, eating, and having sex are pleasurable while you're doing them--the fulfilling of those desires is pleasurable to the flesh only during the moment the desire is being fulfilled. The physical desire itself isn't particularly pleasurable.

And that's what makes then chains of slavery to the flesh.

God created sex so a man and his wife could experiance the ultimate intimate act of being made one...with out our pervision of it it is good.....
But on that day what sex was meant to show us will be fulfilled in us being one with God....
When I was a child I thought as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things
When I was a kid me and the neighbor girl played house....she acted like she was cooking and taking care of a babydoll....I acted like I was going to work....I had fun best I can remember till she wanted to kiss....but we must have liked it since we played that game often...it was fun and served to teach us certain things but once I realy had a job and a wife and a baby(4) I never played those games again
So sex is a lesson....monogamy is a lesson....children are a lesson....when we are one with him the lesson will not be desired because it will not compare to the reality.

Something interesting about sex in particular is that of all physical desires, sex is the one that--if we live long enough--goes away as a physical desire. Once upon a time, my penis told my mind that it wanted sex; I'm old enough now that it's my mind that wants it, and I have to tell my penis. At this point, my penis still mostly listens...but I make note of the Cialis commercials.

My point with this frank talk is that as long as I live this mortal life in this corruptible flesh, I will always need to breath and drink and eat and sleep. But I can see that I won't always need sex--and that even now, my need for sex is mostly mental and within a few years will be wholly mental.

That means if I live long enough, I would have no other choice but to find satisfaction by other means.

That's something that is already true for millions, even young people who suffer from medical situations. Of all the importance society places on sex, it is paradoxically the one physical desire everyone will lose if he or she lives long enough, and then it becomes merely a mental desire.

But if it's a mental desire, then it can be replaced by another mental desire. And once I've found that replacement--why would I want to go backward after resurrection and have my penis telling me what to do again?

Apostle Paul.

Paul was actually the only one to advise sex (between a man and wife) for the sake of satisfying the physical desire without any reference to childbearing. Paul was the one who said religion was not reason to abstain from sex, except for a short time with mutual consent.

others have answered well enough

and love... in heaven..is outwardly given by all.. love does not seek its own (self)

and sex is far from the peak of intimacy.. intimacy between man and wo-man ,who came from man is not a sexual state alone..
thats a youthful view point..

Peter was also a Godly Christian example of a family man who rose to the highest position in the church. He didn't have to take a vow of celibacy. Also Martin Luther is another Godly example of a family man. He actually took a vow of celibacy and later in his life when he abandoned that nonsense he married the nun that he probably lusted over while he was in the monastery.

Can I go to your church?

Of course you can. My church celebrates marriage and babies and children. Sex is an important part of the first and the latter two are a direct result of sex.

BUT.....this thread is about sex in heaven.

...and neither of them are having sex in heaven.

BTW, Luther married his wife at her suggestion. He had married off all the nuns that he had stolen out of the nunnery and she was left without a husband. He asked "who shall I marry you to?"

She replied, "you are single." So he married her out of duty and learned that marriage is a great institution and not just a way have sex. They had a great life together and they were devoted to one another.
