  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In heaven, will we be without sexual desire...?

Because he reads the bible....? That's an awfully unwelcoming response, and Btw i'm non-denominational, just too lazy too change the stat.

Ah my apologies.

Honestly, It really doesn't matter because there will probably be things 100,000 x more intense and intimate in heaven. Perhaps, Whole-body orgasmic stimulations. The idea of being in eternal joyful paradise with god for eternity blows 30 minutes of primal passion out of the water anyway. Don't worry, God will hook us up.

LOL. I love it when God hooks me up!! ;)^_^

Heaven will be like being dropped into the burning fiery furnace that's been heated seven times hotter than normal but for some reason we wont be consumed by it. God's Spirit is a thousand times stronger than anything we have ever experienced here on earth. Every relationship whether thru family or friends or spouses is just a small sample of the joys that await the faithful in heaven.

'But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.' 1Cor. 2:9

Anyone can read the bible. Its just words on the page if you don't have the Holy Spirit. You only joined CF a few months ago and you were agnostic then. If you have since converted and honestly given yourself to Christ, then you do have the Holy Spirit but you are still new to this and, as a new disciple, you should stuck to listening and asking, instead of giving out wisdom with no scriptural support.

Are you involved with a church?

I'm hoping that its more like a cool, spring-fed pond on a hot, summer day.

You spend your whole earthly life being consumed by the heat of desires for sex, wealth, power, etc. Heaven should be refreshing and peaceful and not just a different set of desires. God draws you to his throne because he is the source of peace, and not the source of a burning passion.

If you've ever jumped in a spring on a hot, summer day, you know what I mean. In the spring, you are weightless, cool, and surrounded with pure water. You never want to get out because once you leave that water, you have heat, weight, sand spurs, sweat, and toil again. So, you just lay there in the water and float around.

The passion of "want" has been replaced with the contentment of "having". That is heaven.

-Jesus kept his gender

Jesus kept His appearance.

My point of that 'way too large picture above is that "like the angels" is strictly in the context of not marrying. It does not specifically speak to the actual physical make-up of the Glorified Man.

There is too much we don't know about how physical forms have been changed from "the way it was in the beginning" in order to accomodate life in a fallen world. Did lions eat grass? If so, why isn't their gastronomical tract like a cow's? A lion as it is today cannot live on grass. See what I mean?

So how much does our current physiology reflect only the current nature of existence, how much did it change from "the way it was in the beginniing" and how much might it change as Glorified Man?

The only things we can say about Jesus' glorified body from scripture is that it had a human appearance His disciples recognized, but it also appeared to have supra-human properties that the Iron Age apostles could not describe very well.

Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil." -- Genesis 3

Clearly in this verse "like one of us" did not mean like God in physiology.

"Like the angels" in this verse has to be interpreted as narrowly as it specifically says, and nothing can be presumed about physiology.

I'm not consumed by these things. I just want to show that heaven will not be a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion like you and other posters make it out to be. God's Spirit is often compared to a fire and he often compels me to do and say things that are out of my comfort zone. Do you think we will get to heaven and hide in the corner somewhere like a little school mouse afraid to make a peep?

I'm not saying any of those things, so don't put words in my mouth. I'm saying that heaven and full communion with God won't be like anything that is really comparable to anything in our earthly existence. (Note, that I said in my post #65 that "I hope..." and not that "It is...").

We will become beings of spirit when we go to heaven, and I don't really know what that will be like, except that we will be in the form that Adam had before he was forever tainted (i.e. fundamentally transformed) by original sin. We won't go hide in the corner, as you suggest, because we will have a place as the children of the King. We get free run of the castle! To think that we would have to hide from God while we're in heaven is silly because it is an extension of works righteousness (i.e. "I hope he doesn't notice that I'm not really supposed to be here.")

But the big point to consider is that all of our earthly motivations will not follow us to heaven because those things will pass away with our present bodies. The whole point of spirituality here on earth is to give us a taste of what it is like to live outside of our meat-bags.

Do you think a life without sexual desire is a "a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion?"

Is that the total expanse of a well-lived life that you can possibly imagine?

Now, I'm in my 60s and I still like sex as much as the any guy, but if you were to ask mentally mature women "Is there anything you enjoy more than sex?" most can give you at least five things off the tops of their heads...and wil make a guy feel inadequate if the woman has a pencil and paper handy to make a list (is there any woman who wouldn't prefer a simultaneous bubble bath with a hot-oil foot rub while eating chocolate to sex?).

So if women who have sex drives on earth today can think of things they'd be just as happy (if not happier) doing right now, I strongly suspect that even men will discover such things as a Glorified Man in the future age.

I have no idea how you got sex out of that but somehow you did !?! Do you think feelings and strong emotions equal sex? Apparently you do but I don't. Parents love their children more than life but they don't have sex with them!!

You may not be saying it but it's definitely implied. Christians love to give up things - to give up this and give up that and repress every feeling and desire. Some feelings and desires come from God. They're not always bad.

Martin Luther told a friend who was paralyzed with his fear of accidentally sinning to just go ahead and sin and "if you must sin, do it boldly." But that's not the subject of this thread. You seem to think that we will be the same person in heaven as we are on earth, so the same desires will be present.

This isn't about "repression". It's about transformation. You defend your physical desires with great passion because you don't think they're not a sin. But can you see that a new you that is perfected as a spiritual being might not value those desires as much as the present you does?

What are you talking about?

The topic is: In heaven, will we be without sexual desire...?

We have one group of people saying yes, another group saying no.

So which group did you mean when you said to BryanW92 (who is in the "no" group): " I just want to show that heaven will not be a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion like you and other posters make it out to be."

How in the world did you get "a robotic experience devoid of feeling and strong emotion" out of BryanW92's comment?

Yes, but can; (are they, (angels) or angelic bodies) capable of sexual desire?, If so, what other desires that we consider are limited to the carnal, fleshly, "desires" are they (angelic beings) capable of?

I know we all "dream" of a day when we are resurrected to angelic bodies, said to "be free" from fleshly, carnal desires, but if we were created in the image and likeness of God and angels, then wouldn't they (the angels) be faced with the same base desires and emotions that we are (faced with)?

Wouldn't the angels have to make a conscious "choice" against wicked, evil desires, the same as we would (do) (have to)?

Their wouldn't be any "free will" for the angels if all the fleshly, base desires were wisked away with some kind of magic wand, they would be automatons, with no choice, and no free will, if they weren't faced with the chance (choice) to do wrong, right?

God Bless!

Did you guys miss these posts?

God Bless!

To the first "let: "US" make man in "OUR" own image and likeness"

Free will is assumed, choice is assumed, otherwise we'd be no better than automatons or robots, and I don't think God intended to create automatons, when he created us...

What's the reason for creating and putting the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden and the command not to eat from it, if we weren't intended to have free will or choice?

But were getting off topic, so, from your previous post, to you, the "Sons of God" are not the same as angels then?

I'm confused

God Bless!

The fallen angels, were holy angels once, and they developed sexual urges for the daughters of men, so what differentiated the Holy angels who fell, from the ones that did not?

Did not God create them both?, with the full knowledge of the future outcome of their choices... Did not God create them to fall (the ones who fell) And did/does not God still use them anyway...? One vessel for an honorable use, another for a dishonorable use?

And these?

this is an interesting question. if we are not supposed to be able to have sexual desires in heaven then why would God create beings with sexual desires? the bible tells us that angels had sexual relations with humans and created giants. so if angels could do it then wouldn't we be able to do it in heaven also?

God bless

As to the angels that fell they were attempting to be made one with a creation that had been made higher than them...as to a sexual desire in men it was to be one with a woman
When we are glorified we will be as he is perfectly one with God...there will be no desire for more as we.will be one with all.
