Is YAHWEH andALLAH the same person?

I hear many people say when Muslims refer to ALLAH they are worshiping the same God Christians worship YAHWEH and others say Islam is worships ALLAH as a moon God and is NOT the same God Christians worship.

So is the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob YHWH/YAH/YAHWEH... etc, the same God ALLAH that Islam claims to worship??

The Arabian word "Allah" means "God" and is used by Arabic Christians in worship.

It depends on if you are asking if Muslims are worshiping the same God as Christians. The answer to this is no and in this sense, that of the theological concept, Allah is imaginary. In the sense that Allah is just a generic word for God, then it is true that Christians worship Allah. Of course our notion of Allah (that is God) is distinguished from their notion of Allah. Finally, it is important to acknowledge that Yahweh is the proper name of God not the generic term. That is to say, Allah or God is likened to "human" whereas Yahweh is likened to my name which is "Steven."

Muslims would insist that Allah is in fact the name of their god. Their most basis statement of faith is that the name of God is Allah and Muhammad is his prophet. Allah may have a million names, The Beneficent, The Merciful, etc., but his proper name is Allah.

No. And, moreover, Yahweh is not one person, but three persons.

If Allah is a different God than the Christian God, then Judaism must be worshipping a different God, since they do not believe in Christ, correct? IMHO.
ALLAH is simply the Arabic word for Yahweh, so I would vote other if that would have been an option,

Islam is no more moon god worship than Christianity is storm god worship. Yes, Allah may have at one point been a moon god in the pre-Islamic Arabian pantheon; but Yahweh may have been a storm god for the pre-Israelite peoples of Canaan. Islam, like ancient Israelite religion, specifically rejected that pedigree, and both claim that the god/God worshiped by their respective communities are ultimately the supreme creator-God revealed to Abraham.

The only difference is that the ancient Israelites were right.

Allah is no more the Arabic word for Yahweh than God is the English word for Yahweh. Yahweh is a name. The Hebrew word for God is El or Elohim. Muslims do not make that distinction between the word for God (Allah) and the name of God (Allah). Only Arab Christians make that distinction in Arabic, between the term for God (Allah) and the name of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

My point is, reading too much into symbology without understanding it's context can lead you to some odd misunderstandings.

Judaism and Islam are two groups who argue over who is worshiping the one "Old Testament" God correctly.

Both groups claim the be the true inheritors of God's promises.

Neither group claim that Christ Jesus is God or the Son of God, nor do they claim the existence of The Holy Spirit albeit for different reasons.

Both groups struggle for their "view of righteousness" over the other.

Neither group has peace. Their views of what they must do "for God" being in direct contrast to one another.

Both claim to worship God The Father, the same God.

The word "Allah" being used as a name is very similar to using "catholic" as a name. The very meaning of the word itself becomes lost when it is used as a proper noun.

There is one creator of the visible and the invisible, and that is God. Different languages have different words for the same spiritual reality. Yaweh, Allah, God, the Tao, yin and yang, the various deities of Hinduism and Buddhism, all are different words that express an appreciation for the idea that their is a spiritual reality underlying our existence. To the extent that we experience the spiritual world, it is the same spiritual reality that exists for all of us. The interpretations that we give to that experience vary considerably.

Different religions just have very different understandings of the nature of that same spiritual reality.

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are different religions. We share some understandings of God that are similar, but there are enormous differences and contradictions as well, probably even larger and more intractable than the differences that exist between Christianity and Buddhism, or Christianity and Confucianism.

It is political correctness only that would paper over these differences and pretend that it is all about the same thing.

For the Christian Yahweh is the Christ.

For Judaism and Islam it is the Father. Be careful not to corrupt Christian beliefs with beliefs of the foreshadow.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

If you will notice the Sistine Chapel ceiling shows the Judaic belief, not the Christian one.

The Father as creator.

Ancient Christianity taught the book of Genesis for catechism. Christ was presented as the one who physically walked in the garden with Adam and Eve.
