They would have been made in God's likeness as well (the 'likeness' that God chose for himself).
When Christians talk about being made in "the likeness of God" what exactly do they mean? is God like a human?
or does it mean God thinks like a human?

It means that we look and think like God, only on a much lower level. God made the angels, and us, to appear like he appears when manifested physically. I think he chose a great design (even though some say he should have done a better job on our lower backs). :p

It was a serious question, if you don't know the answer why did you bother?

You'll not find a better answer to your question.

My 'lower back' comment was aimed at evolutionists who think our lower back problems are a result of standing upright.

Don't be so sure.

My 'lower back' comment was aimed at evolutionists who think our lower back problems are a result of standing upright.

And your alternative is that they're a result of shoddy design.

Don't forget the meat is on the wrong side of the shin. At least it is when I bang it on something. ;)

You, an atheist, asked me, a Christian, a question. I answered it, but it's ok if you want to go 'answer shopping' 'til you get one you like. Many atheists do in these forums. :D

You got that right. I still have notches and dents in my shinbones from years of banging into things with them.

I'm sorry if I offended you.
I was just taken aback slightly by what I thought was a childish answer.

More examples of shoddy design -- you sure you don't want to rethink your theory?

What do you know about the design of the human body and all it's intricate parts?

Do you know of anyone who could design and construct a human?

I don't know about him, but I do.

Yes, minus the brain. And in 30-40 years the brain too.

Where is this brainless human? (Boy, am I opening myself up for a cheap shot here).

You said body, not human.

We can manufacture artificial hearts, machines that filter the blood, synthetic blood and other things. The brain is a bit more complex, but give it some time.

Well, like you and OldWiseGuy, I know a kludge when I see one.

Do you know of anyone who could design and construct a human?

Doesn't take a good designer to recognize bad design.

If a wing falls off an airplane, I don't need to be an aerospace engineer to realize "that shouldn't have happened."

I wasn't speaking of body parts, I was speaking of the body. The body is an extremely complex life form, not fully understood yet and you claim that the body can be designed and reproduced?

Like I said, make a better design. And then build it.

Redesign it then. Make it work better. And then build it.

The body is extremely complex, but we do fully understand it (minus the brain which we're learned more about in the past ten years than in all of history combined). We can now create almost any organ you want via stem cells, we can create artificial organs, and we understand the body's functions down to the cellular level.

Like I said, make a better design. And then build it.

We will in the next century. We already create other organisms (you can download a type of worm that is accurate down to each cell's parts and which runs in real time). To make a better design would be easy given all the flaws. For one, how about we not include the useless appendix or coccyx? We could also remove the blind spot in your eyes that forces your brain to have your eyes vibrate to compensate. All those needless, tiny bones in your ankle and foot could be reduced to prevent ankle rolls (we evolved from tree climbers, so we're not like other land mammals that don't roll ankles like us). I could keep going, but you get the idea.
