First, the Qur'an was the final Revelation "until the day of Resurrection". In the Baha'i view, the Day of Resurrection began in 1844 AD (1260 AH - cf all the prophecies in the Old and New Testaments about the year 1260).
Second, the Qur'an is a book of spiritual and social teachings. The historical accounts are taken from the understandings of the day current amongst people, for the purpose of explicating the spiritual and social teachings. Not to give a history lesson.
This is my understanding of the Bible- that it is a book of spiritual and social teachings, not a history textbook with completely accurate details.
