• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's hear yours then.

If you believed the waters are now on Neptune; how would you explain it?

I don't explain it. I don't know. No one knows for sure. There are several theories that could explain how Earth got its water, or any other planet/planetoid for that matter, including: extraterrestrial origins - such as comets and/or asteroids containing water-laden minerals; gasses from a newly- formed earth held in suspension in the atmosphere long enough for water molecules to form; water leaking out of rocks containing minerals that contain water. I don't remember some of the other ways water could have gotten here. I am, however, fairly certain that godidn'tdoit.

I don't explain it. I don't know.
You just find it "laughable."

Got it.

You're entitled to your opinion; but it sounds like a personal problem to me.

Yes, I find your explanation laughable. But, it's not my problem. I don't have to make outlandish claims to explain the things no one knows (yet), AV.

But it's okay to ask, isn't it?

IOW, it's okay for a ... um ... scientist to ask a Christian where the Flood waters went.

But the Christian can't respond without being ridiculed?

As I said, it's your prerogative; so this conversation we're having is a waste of time.

It isn't a waste of time, because you've misunderstood, or, at least feigned misunderstanding so you can play the martyr yet again. And I want to correct the misunderstanding.

You aren't being ridiculed because you're a Christian (that's another can of worms). You're being ridiculed for the things you say - and that has nothing to do with your Christianity. I'm willing to bet no other Christian on earth thinks flood waters got zapped over to Neptune.

When I see a scientist (or anyone with a brain) ridicule someone who believes something they're trained to think is "outrageous" ... then that same -- (and I'll use a respectable term here) -- person doesn't even snicker when someone says Jesus walked on water ... is to me [rest of sentence withheld to avoid moderation].
I'm willing to bet no other Christian on earth thinks flood waters got zapped over to Neptune.
One other poster here says Mars, and I've even seen "the moon" -- (since scientists used to think the moon had seas).

But let AV respond and ... whoo boy ... it's like someone left the N[sub]2[/sub]O tank open.

As are you. And make no mistake, AV my opinions are just as open to ridicule and mockery as anyone else's. I get things so wrong sometimes, *I* even laugh.

Jesus walking on water is basic Christian doctrine. It's not one bit less laughable to me, but that's beside the point. Your "theory" for what happened to (alleged) flood waters isn't supported Biblically. To me, that just makes it more outrageous than accepted doctrine. I don't know why, really. I suppose in all truth it shouldn't.

Pish. As usual, AV, it has nothing to do with you. Only your strange ideas.

Who in their right mind would believe that the waters on Neptune are the waters from the flood, let alone need to explain it?

Jesus walking on water is basic Christian doctrine.
So?
It's not one bit less laughable to me, but that's beside the point.
Meaning what?

Meaning you pick and choose; or meaning Jesus walking on water isn't your kind of humor, but God taking the Flood waters to a remote destination is?
Your "theory" for what happened to (alleged) flood waters isn't supported Biblically.
So what?

You guys claim the Trinity isn't supported Biblically, nor the Rapture.

Why let those stop you from guffawing?
To me, that just makes it more outrageous than accepted doctrine.
You mean like the Trinity or the Rapture?
I don't know why, really. I suppose in all truth it shouldn't.
My guess is that basic (or accepted) doctrine isn't your brand of humor.
Pish. As usual, AV, it has nothing to do with you.
Maybe not with you, but I even get my post count ridiculed by some.

(Like I even care.)
Only your strange ideas.
"Strange" assumes you know what's "normal."

We've derailed enough, so this'll be my last post on this line of thought:

Meaning you pick and choose; or meaning Jesus walking on water isn't your kind of humor, but God taking the Flood waters to a remote destination is?

Meaning, I've heard "standard doctrine" so much in my lifetime that it has all but lost humor because of repetition. Your ideas a fresh to me, and therefore are still funny. In a few years, probably, I'll stop laughing.

Who "in their right mind" would believe Jesus walked on water?

Anyone ignorant of Biblical symbolism -- but that list is long and unremarkable.

I wouldn't be surprised if aliens existed on other planets, but I, also, wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, either. I'm fairly neutral on the subject - but, I will say that I like fictional aliens. A lot of their designs are so cool!

There's no evidence that ETs exist and even less that they're sentient and visiting us.

Perhaps we're the only ones.
Perhaps we're the first (someone has to be the Vorlons).
Perhaps we're the last.
Perhaps the universe is teeming with life, we just haven't come in contact yet.

If you believed the waters are now on Neptune; how would you explain it?

I'd start by explaining why I believed it -- as opposed to desperately trying to get everyone else to do my homework for me.

You have a dream, a vision, something that you want to create, something that you want to bring from obscurity and you believe in your vision, you believe in your dream but you still wait for the time that everything will come together, you still wait for when everything is perfect.

Everything is already perfect. Everything is already together. All you need is to take a step of faith, all you need is to step out in faith. Join me as I write about my experience in stepping out and making the miraculous happen. Visit ingracefully.blogspot.com for more.

It should perhaps be remembered that there is one miracle central to Christianity - namely the Resurrection. Therefore, if that miracle is accepted as historical, there is no prima facie reason for believing that other miracles might not also be historical.

Well-stated for truth.

I have a feeling though, they like to giggle -- and giggling at basic doctrine would just make them look foolish.
