  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The belief that there is no god is based on the fact that you have no independently objective evidence to suggest a god/s exists. To believe a god/s exists because based on incredulity is one thing, to assert that it exists and claim you know it does, is delusion.

I have independently objective evidence.

Yes you are fooling yourself and no you are not an uncaring person but your Christianity makes you put yourself first.

Christianity is all about egotism, it makes you think the universe was put there by God for you and other Christians,
God loves only Christians and will make everyone who is not a Christian suffer in hell for not believing in your God,
how egotistical is that??????????
You'd rather believe Ms. Nature configured this universe and we're just mold growing on cold, dead surfaces?

I would rather believe the preponderance of the evidence.
In other words, you'll let others do the work and then just go along with their decision ... is that correct?

Then you'll beam with some kind of academic pride that you're being wise?

No, it's nothing like religious belief.

So then Christians believe in a delusion that has been reported by eyewitnesses as their own delusion? It's a delusion within a delusion?

What if we also have experiences similar to their delusions? Like encounters with spiritual entities that can't be explained?

Wait, are you calling Christians (or anyone that has faith in a God) delusional?

This is the passage I use when talking to anyone who claims to have been saved at one point, then changed their call sign:

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

1. once enlightened
2. tasted of the heavenly gift
3. made partakers of the Holy Ghost
4. tasted the good word of God
5. tasted the powers of the world to come

You went through this, did you not?

HitchSlap made the delusional claim. I think you directed your question at the wrong poster.

Well, you've asserted a god/s exist, can you objectively demonstrate this?

Could you please describe an encounter with a spiritual entity?

So if I described it to you and told you that what I
experienced/saw/heard was real, then what would you
say?

That you think I am delusional?

Perhaps I could describe the numerous experiences
other Christians I know have had. Are they delusional
as well with the same delusion?

Perhaps the real answer is that yes, the Bible is telling
the truth.

Yes, people having emotional experiences happens quite frequently. So what? How do you know it was a supernatural spirit that was responsible for it?

Christians know what they should see, hear, feel, from reading the bible and from history, so similar delusional experiences isn't at all strange.
