• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And yet its the godless who accuse Christians for being intolerant bigots when they speak out against murder, against greed, against gluttony, against selfishness, against the pornography industry, against strip clubs, prostitution, sex trafficking, and against numerous other sordid vices that men are loathe to relinquish.
Yes, because all Christians are united in one opinion... oh wait. Tell me, do you think broad-brushing makes your opinion more, or less, likely to be true?

Maybe God really is speaking through Christians and trying to encourage the rapists and hustlers and pimps and thieves and robbers and murderers and greedy godless to amend their ways.

Maybe God's words are falling on deaf ears....
Maybe God's the one compelling people to rape. Maybe God's got his hands tied counting grains of sand. Maybe idle speculation is just another way to distract from the enduring truth: you believe in a being that can, but won't, stop the rape of children.

On one hand, the godless want the godly to "stay out of their business" and to "mind their own business", and to "stop preaching" and yet now you want God to magically jump smack in the middle of virtually everyone's business when they are about to do something evil.
You do realise that "mind your own business" is a maxim that doesn't apply to the prevention of rape, right?

You completely ignore what is said to you, yet complain about Christian's attitude about atheists?

I think you forfeited that right.

Why? Am I being abusive in some way? Am I using ad hominems? Am I telling you what you believe rather than asking you? What's the problem?

I want to make sure you answer my question directly so I can proceed. You say that you deserve to go to hell. Do you expect to end up there?

The bible frequently (around a thousand times) refers to God as Almighty. You claim that He is not. How do you account for the difference?

All Judgment has been given to the Son. Any Christian saying otherwise is speaking out of turn.

That happens to be a Name - and what it means, is most powerful. All mighty would be what you are trying to construe that as, and the Bible never says that. I gave you a good list that directly restricts your false notion, which you completely ignored.

That does not pass as legitimate communication.

So let me see if I understand you. The bible says god is almighty, but he's really not?

People complain when God does something about it, and they complain if He does not.
Let´s just say that all these people have no right to complain. That, however, doesn´t change anything about the facts that they point out:
If there´s a God this God doesn´t prevent the sort of things this very God considers evil. That - while it may not be a reason to complain (particularly not for a person who doesn´t even believe in it) - is an essential problem of your god concept.

To be honest, and in the interest of legitimate communicatiob, that does not answer my question. I'm sure you won't mind me asking again. You say you do not deserve heaven. Where do you expect to end up?

Yes, so I'm sure you will understand my confusion when Webster's list the Biblical word Almighty as being synonymous with all-powerful and omnipotent.

You use "god concept" a lot, but you obviously don't understand it because your statement here poses no problem.

That is a question of Judgment. All Judgment has been given to the Son, who is not a poster on this website. Therefore anyone addressing a question on this issue is speaking out of turn. I thought I made that quite clear already.

Webster was born quite some time after the Bible finished being written. All you will do is confuse yourself by referring to English definitions of Hebrew words.

"It"? Maybe I haven´t understood yours. There are god concepts by the millions. You are invited to outline a god concept to which this doesn´t pose a problem.

This is great!

So he doesn't answer the question. His first point is a straw man. His second point is just evil - god allows your daughter to be killed in a car crash, so you and your wife can be closer.

I'm simply baffled that you think this guy is making valid points.

So he doesn't answer the question.

How did you come to that conclusion? Did you actually watch the video?

His first point is a straw man.

And this took place at what time during the video?

His second point is just evil - god allows your daughter to be killed in a car crash, so you and your wife can be closer.

Why is that evil? Should God surround every car on the highway with an invisible forcefield or foam bumper and inject every driver with a shot of adrenaline so they dont fall asleep at the wheel? Or maybe He should instantaneously detoxify every drunk that gets behind the wheel? Or maybe He should just make every car in the world disappear so there can be no automobile accidents?

People cry and whine for having to have their cars inspected for road worthiness and protest helmet laws for motorcyclist my friend. I assure you, people would not go for any of the above, you know, people wanting to be autonomous and all.

:cool1:

Okay, so suffice it to say: even though you deserve hell, there is a reasonable chance you will never see it. Is that a fair interpretation of what you've described?
