  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have seven, and will undoubtedly be getting more, im saving up the £1.5k needed for the Sleeve I would like done, and when I take my second Initiation I plan on getting the Four Paraphernalia of the Lord's tatood as well, in ye olden time it was branded , but that tradition fell out of favor, I see no harm at all in reviving it with a tattooing trend.

I have 6 thus far and plan on at least 3 more. I have shared them in threads before but here is a pic of the last 1 I got.

The key is the thing that brings me to salvation, heart for Christ, wings for God, and flames for the Holy Spirit.

I used to want one, but my tattoo idea was just to put remembrance of my grandfather, although now after becoming closer with the lord I can say I have no desire for a tattoo. My reasoning behind it is that I feel that since God has created me in his image, I should not want to get anything that would distort my image from him.

But that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, I don't need to look it up since I am in no position right now to get one, but If you are, maybe scriptures, and the opinions here will help you.

I would only say this... Your body is a holy temple unto The Lord, best act like it. So be be careful what you adorne your temple with. I personally have eph. 6:16-17 on my left shoulder. I lastly would say if you would ashamed to stand before Christ with it, don't get it. (Now that last part I would say only applies thoughs who are believers. If you got before you were saved, that is what grace is for.)

I have 7. Havent gotten any since I got saved but I would like to. What are your views on tattoos? Do you have any? Did you get any after you became a Christian?
I look at us as 'stewards' to take care of a body that has been 'loaned' to us from God ... so never felt right about altering it with a tattoo ... hmmmm wwjd?? pretty sure he'd save the cash to donate to the united way or something a little more productive and less vain?

Altering it with a tattoo does not preclude one from being a good steward of the body, nor need it be spiritually unproductive. And what Jesus would or not do is moot, since he was a Jew and obliged to keep the Law. Gentile Christians do not have this obligation.

Well according to Leviticus 19:28 it would most likely be considered spiritually unproductive:
Lev19:28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Is this really that complicated?

yes it kind of is...

If your someone who holds to the Context issues... Which I am... Then verse only applies to Jews...Which it does... Since I am a gentile and under the law of grace which Jesus laid down, that does not apply to me. What does apply to me is to abstain form polluted idols, Sexual Immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. That is specifically what the first council of Jerusalem said that gentiles had to follow when coming to Christianity. Paul and Barnabas specifically fought against the law being placed on gentiles. Their argument was that the Jews could not keep it so why are you forcing it on them when that is not what Christ preached. Also Peter was heavily involved in this as well.

Thank you -- this is good -- I did not know this ...
