It was in Hamlet they did murder most fowl
So our nature's are changed by faith.
This alone is necessary
But God asks us to go do good for no good reason: It doesn't add to our salvation. And we should be doing it anyway
If you can find the Bible quote that says "Works are really cool/great/neat/fab-o" let me know.let me just say, works are great, really.
The same way an athlete changes his flesh by working-out. Or do you think an athlete just says "I believe in myself" and then doesn't practice/train/diet?but how on earth, do u change the flesh, with works!?
Has anyone here experienced salvation in connection with a belief? Did the belief actually cause it?
On this I can agree - there are plenty of examples of the athlete in the NT - not to gain salvation but to grow in Christ after salvation.<snip>

I guess you don't believe it means what is say's and you don't know what it means.. so I'll move on the hundreds of other scriptures that say's we are not saved by works... maybe you will believe those... but if what you are saying is that you don't believe All scriptures, then please say so... because there would be no need for me to show them to you if you don't believe all of the bible is God word.
Another thought I had on eternal life. It looks to me like eternal life is something we acquire. And it seems to me that if its something that we acquire then its something we can reject. This is just totally me and may be way off base, but I see eternal life as something that goes on whether we have it or not and if we have it and decide to opt out it still goes on. In other words the eternal of eternal life does not depend on our possession of it. It's eternal whether we have it or not.God calls it eternal life... so I take it that it's eternal life... if it's not eternal then you are right... it's temporary life... one thing we do know is that eternal does not mean quality.... it means time...
Hi guys, I am a Christian but I have a question about whether or not belief in God is enough to be saved.
Here are some verses that show that belief = salvation.
You guys get the point. And this sounds great. But, what about this?
The way I understand it, "belief" in Jesus Christ isn't enough to be saved. True belief in Jesus will result in fruit that is evident by a lifestyle change, a heart change: that you want nothing else to do with the world that satisfies the needs of the flesh but really only care about satisfying God and being led by the Spirit.
However, if this is the case, what do we make of the first 3 verses I posted? They clearly seem to state that belief is all that is needed for salvation.
Can somebody please shine a light on this issue for me? I think how we understand salvation really changes how we live our lives and especially how we evangelize to others (in other words, if belief isn't enough to be saved, we shouldn't be spreading that as a final end).
Thank you for your help.
The thing is one has to have faith and works. Not just faith. Not just works.
Saying "I'm a Christian" and doing nothing, or doing bad doesn't help.
I fully agree, great post.
