So this thread really is not about science, but an ill concealed attempt to bash Christians?

This is funny. Did you see the video raze posted? I am responding to it. Interesting how it's suddenly "persecution" when they're taking what they're dishing out.

Maybe if we could have a thread about science where some people didn't start blabbing on about how the bible says it's wrong, and instead stayed on topic...

Now, how about instead of raze trolling the forum and trying to get a rise out of intelligent people, he can try to actually support the accusations the video makes with some evidence?

I said a good while back that this thread seemed to be a debate regarding the existnence of God, and that is what it seems to be to me. Each side is trying to make the other side look foolish for their particular beleifs. This is foolish IMO, because no one here really even knows what exactly the others believe. Those kinds of situations seem to be looking to belittle others for personal resentments carried forward from other undesirable resentments experienced in life. If he is trolling, then you should ignore him.

Lol, I guess not... perhaps I was too focused on the duck. Quack! :p

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
(Hbr 12:2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

If violating women against their will is your idea of romantic love

Good. Now you're focusing on what matters. Now to support your unsupportable interpretation you'll need to establish that your favorite "rape" verses first of all in some way state to violate another's will, and then you'll need to find records of this being done lawfully, in the Jew's own records.

Which you can't, because it didn't happen. And btw, how many times did a Jewish parent (lawfully) stone their child to death? Any ideas? ;)

Ah, yes, the classic "I didn't steal it, I was merely borrowing it" excuse.

Borrowed with permission does not a theft make, nor does it need an excuse.

No, how 'bout you stick with context, or is that against your religion? The video I posted was in response to a video posted by Frenchybearpaw, Mr Ihatechristians hisself. Impossible to miss that bit of context, and in fact the video was on the list of related videos of the one frenchy posted.

Neither video has much merit at all.

I am beginning to come to the conclusion that atheism is anti God, anti Religion & anti Christianity. At least there seems to be a lot of atheists on here that are anti all those things. I can understand why there are very few people that want to jump on their band wagon. To me it does not make any sense to pick the most powerful force in the universe and announce that your now an enemy of the God who created us all. That is pretty much the opposite of the way I was raised. Even though we were not taught any religion, we were not taught any anti religion either. At least not to the degree that we see it here.

If you were not taught any religion where did you get the idea that there was a God who was the 'most powerful force in the universe'?

Remember telling lies for Jesus is still lying.

If you are a creationists then you MUST have been indoctrinated whether you realise it or not.

I agree... and I have noticed two types of atheists. One type just has no belief in God, no knowlege of God's existence. The other one has made atheism a religion that is opposed to any with a belief in God.

Perhaps a thread should be started that has a topic that is not about how wrong scientists that have faith in God are then.... Maybe something like the Shroud of Turin and a review of the peer reviewed studies..

You can tell right from the OP, it's the science of bashing Christians. Delphiki comes to CF to work on his PhD.

Stop being so sensitive. The OP is about adhering to a belief even when it is shown to be false.

No one has conclusively shown your God to not exist (it's impossible to do so anyway), but people have conclusively shown Creationism to be false. So this thread applies more to Creationism than Christianity.

Now putting that back in context:

"the idea of you "listening to my reasons" for knowing the Truth is just plain silly. Jesus made it plain that the ONLY starting point is Scripture, and you refuse to listen to what it has to say for some reason ...

And all you want to do is blame others. Not until after you sort through what sense you can make of the Bible, will the testimony of others (including perhaps me) have any relevance. That is not the path you're choosing here, and you have no one to blame for that but yourself."
Indeed. A book that mentions a talking snake, man walking on the water, wine turning into wine, a sea that splits open (and later engulfs an entire army) doesn't sound very credible. If the god protrayed in it sends two bears killing 42 children just for mocking a prophet, then that god isn't a very moral god. The attitude of the same god vis a vis Job isn't very honorable either. And the same book portays as the most moral man Lot, who gives his two daughters to a raping mod. No thanks. I have higher standards of morality.
But look at it the other way: a day has only 24 hours. So I have to spend my time well: 7 hours of sleep, daily job, kleening the house, sex with my girlfriend, reading books and posting silly things on the internet. If you want me to make time for the bible, you 'll have to convince me.
No, reading Scripture is not the beginning. You, I, everybody must first have a reason to even consider reading it. You can't say "read the scripture, we talk later".; You 'll have to talk first.
And by your own claim, that can't be that difficult. As you wrote:
The Christian Faith is 100% rational.

As you can guess from my faith icon, I value rationality very high. It's your big chance.

I could be wrong, but I think more Christians beleive evolution to be true, so I don't think many would be posting here. I thought this topic was about evolutionary Christian science.

Hi Driewerf :)

When you said this: If you want me to make time for the bible, you 'll have to convince me.

...are you saying that if I can come up with a rational reason to convince you, you would read the bible?
If your reasons can stand the scrutiny.
As you can guess from my faith icon, I value rationality very high. It's your big chance.
