  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If we're including self-invoked. Most people curse themselves. But that's beside the point, since I am addressing the smarmy christians who pipe up, "I'll pray for you!" I shudder at the thought of what that actually means. I do not imagine it is anything good, but rather a curse. And I believe all curses are demonic, whether supposedly rooted in teh bible or not.

what power does pray have beyond the one who is being prayed to? If to God, the ask yourself would He answer an Evil request?

Ask non-christians and Wiccans who practice magic and they will tell you.

I find it laughable and disgusting that so-called "christians" would counsel others to pray imprecatory curses, I mean "prayers". Seems much more like the work of Satan than that of God.

Also, to answer your question, I'd suggest you ask those who advise and practice imprecatory curses.

I can answer the questions I asked myself.
Just looking to gage your understanding of the topic.

Scary.

Gives a whole new shudder to the thought of what it means when some nay-go-gooder pipes up, "Ima gonna pray for you!" Please, keep your "prayers" to yourself, thank you. :)
noticed your comments, you are correct we are to pray blessings not cursings.

"Would you challenge God who makes all the rules, whose ways are higher than yours, whose thoughts are higher than yours? Would you challenge Him to justify Himself if He stood in front of you?"

Yes.

Why does God not accept my challenge? Why does he wait until the moment I die to say "haaaaaaaa, I told you so"?

You really perceive things this way? From what I've seen of you so far you are both smarter and more knowledgeable than that. You really need to have the flaws here pointed out?

When I question God's allowance of innocent death I am talking about the immense physical pain and emotional sorrow of loved ones. I think a loving God would not want us to go through this.

Look around the world and see atrocious brutality in every aspect of life; insects, fish, animals. Obviously what you think of a Loving God is skewed.

Oh and I know ... "classic dodge of the question." There, feel better now?

He heals nobody now. As in zero people.

And you have no proof that he healed anybody when he existed or how he did it. Not sure why you'd believe in something that has no proof. As in zero proof.

You should question that! Especially the first 4 words. Or would you rather just dodge that issue? (Classically, perhaps? Some nice Handel maybe? "He Shall Feed His Flock," from The Messiah?

Precisely. Aging is a disease that 100% of us have, and the death rate is 100%. This is God's design?

It is reality. How do you explain it? You'd heard the Christian perspective before you asked the question.

Wow, this came out of nowhere. Nothing Drich said has any connection to this whatsoever.

Smarmy. Now there's a word you don't hear every day. How are you using that?

And I believe all curses are demonic, whether supposedly rooted in teh bible or not.

You're Jewish so therefore you hold satan to be a faithful servant of God, and your pet peeve here is debunked. ;) (FYI)

I'm not Jewish. Where did I say that? Just because I have a very good understanding of Judaism doesn't make me a Jew yet officially. I considered converting and still am, but I am still officially a Gentile "dog" as your lord put it so kindly. :)

Those who are truly his disciples, receive grace from him,....perform works in his name, in order to promote the welfare of others, according to the gift that each one has received from Him. Some truly and certinally cast out devils. The result is that those who have been cleansed from evil spirits frequently both believe and join themselves to the church.Others have foreknowledge of things to come: they see visions, and utter prophetic expressions. still others heal the sick by laying their hands upon them, and the sick are made whole. What is more, as I have said, even the dead have been raised up and remained among us for years. What more can I say? it is not possible to name the number of gifts which the church throughout the whole world has received from God, in the name of Jesus Christ, who was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and which she exerts day by day for the benefit of the Gentiles, neither practising deception upon any, nor taking any reward from them [on account of such miraculous interpositions]. For as she has received freely from God, freely also does she minister [to others].
