  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Introduce yourself if you are new to the Seventh-day Adventists section of CF.

Hello. I'm Rottiedog and I'm new. Obviously. I read the post about "you might be an Adventist if..." and I'm either not an Adventist or am a really bad one because I didn't get any of the jokes. There are many terms that are foreign to me. For example, I was invited to attend a women's retreat and everyone was going on and on about how excited they were to have one of the head honchos of 3ABN as a speaker. I nodded and tried to mirror their enthusiasm. But, finally, I said, "what's 3ABN?" Another term I've learned is "haystacks". I always thought these were supposed to be yellowish-looking things that sometimes have needles in them but have learned that they can also involve lettuce and vegan cheese. The other day I accidentally said that enjoyed "Pathfinder Sunday" (oops). If you ask me what I believe I can tell you what but not why (and sometimes not even what).

I'd consider myself an extremely non-traditional Adventist. I like keeping the Sabbath but I'm sure that many would say that I don't really keep it (I just bought my kid a yo-yo as a reward for good behavior and grades in school - - I couldn't quite make it to the store before sundown). I'm a sort-of vegetarian but will eat pork fried rice with my family (picking out the pork) if it means avoiding a war. I have tatoos and ride around with my church's chapter of the Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry. I'm not so sure I'm into modern-day prophets but consider Ellen White to have been a really insightful writer. As for the state of the dead and annihilationism, well, I guess I could be considered a paneschatist - - it'll all pan out in the end.

So, that's about it. Happy Sabbath to all and to all a good night (sounds like Christmas, eh)?

Hi all! Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been on CF for several years but have not always been active on it. Sometimes I just don't have the time. But I enjoy coming back. I have fond memories of this place.

I was born into a 7thDayAdventist family and have never really strayed from the belief even though I have not been an active church goer since I was 12. I moved from Montana to Alabama when I was 15 and I just didn't like the churches there. I attended several Baptist churches because they were in abundance but did not like them at all. So I just didn't go.

Now, I've been through a divorce from a short marriage (no kids) and have moved back to Montana. I hope to rejoin the church here. I like the Adventist beliefs, always have. They've always stuck with me even through all these years and lack of church attendance.

It's nice to be here.

Hi Ciara. I'm new to CF. Welcome back.. Hope you like Montana the second time around. Don't know about the SDA churches there. I live in California where there are some that are really fun. Mine has a motorcycle ministry, a huge Pathfinders group, and a senior pastor that jet-skis in the summer. God bless.

I pray that this time you pray, study, and search the Word and do not become caught in doctrines of men but the Word of the Almighy. I am glad that you return and I will pray for you as you pray for me.
Blessings on your return,
stinsonmarri

Hello, I'm new to the whole idea of 7DA and the first few things I heard we bad but it was from a relatively hostile source so I was looking for some of the general doctrine to make up my own mind.
