Hi there. My name is Amanda. I'm 23 and have just begun my search for God. The Adventist church is where I seem to have found the path of truth. I'm still very uneducated in all of this, but I'm working on it. I spend every day reading a little more, and finding the truth and love. I came here to speak to like minded people and find a caring community who can help me along my path.

I hope to get to know a lot of you, make some great new friends, and share this new found faith.

Hello Amanda. Welcome to the group. I am relatively new here as well. This forum has not been very active but maybe we can do something to change that. I think after summer is over we will probably see more postings here. I am looking forward to getting to know you here. I have been an adventist for many years. If you have any questions I will be glad to help you out if I have the answers. Have a wonderful day and be richly blessed.

Hi, My name is Frank (my screen name is my name spelled backwards) As I said in the "Happy Sabbath" forum I fellowship in Te Aroha, NNZ. We are a small group of older Adventists, the youngest being over 50 and the oldest over 80, about 8 to 15 meet every Sabbath for Sabbath School, Divine Worship and a shared lunch. I was acting Deacon until last Sabbath when I was ordained into that position. My Wife Maureen was also ordained as Deaconess.

Hi Everyone,

I'm an SDA from Michigan. Good to see there are so many on this forum. As I read the different posts, it looks like we need to get a little activity going.

So, what outreach activities are you involved in, either personally or as a church group? I'm starting a stop smoking program that I plan to do both as a business and a ministry. We desperately need this type of ministry in our community. Right now I'm just beginning to collect information. Is anyone else involved in this type of program? I would LOVE to hear from you.

Thanks.

Welcome Marty. I used to work with a group of churches in what we called The Total Health Education Foundation. I was the executive director. We ran stop smoking plans at hospitals and other locations as well as other health eduction programs such as stress management. I am encouraged by your committment. Have a wonderful day and be blessed.

Michael

Hey, happy Sabbath all! I don't know why on earth there should be "different" types of Adventists - "Traditional" "Progressive," etc. We are all in the same family; and only have to "love one another," as the good Book says.

Hi Eagle55,

It's sad that we do have different types of Adventists, but Satan is doing what he does best. . .he's working to divide the remnant and draw God's people apart from His truth. Loving one another is definitely important, but loving God and the truths He reveals in the Bible is even more important.

Remember, we are Christians, following Christ. I'm honored to be able to know the King of kings, whether that's traditional, progressive. . . whatever!

Yes, I know what you mean, but if you look into it deeply, you would find quite a lot of differences within our ranks. There are many discussions regarding the "right" kinds of music, dress, jewelry, ordination of women, etc, etc.

Those of us who stick to the historical opinions on these topics are considered traditional. Those who advocate change, regardless of how we are counseled, are considered progressive. They favor more secular types of music. They seem to be more worldly looking. . . not sure where they are spiritually. Only God knows their hearts. (And I certainly don't mean to imply that you can tell whether a person is a Christian or not by what he/she looks like. Many people "look" like Christians, but their hearts are far from God.)

I do consider myself more traditional than progressive, because I know that God never changes. I do believe that if something was wrong 100 years, or even 50 years ago, that it's still wrong today.

God is good!

Well; guess I can't sell you any of the pups we will soon have by the looks of your avatar! ;)

That's funny! No, we don't need any puppies. My husband is a dog trainer, and we have all the dogs we need. The pups in my avatar are not ours, but they do represent what we do for a living.

What kind of puppies are you expecting? You never know. . .sometimes people ask us where they can get a puppy?

I also would like to know about all this "Reps" and "Power" stuff. I have almost none!
