Why teach creationism in public school science classes?

I've only been saying this for five years.

For the 11th time: Creationism should not be taught in science class -- it should be taught in history class.

The point is though, atheists don't want it taught at all, unless it is taught under the same umbrella as mythology.
Because its not history

Do you want the Koran taught in history class too? how about Beowulf or Gilgamesh?

Sorry, but I've been saying this to you since I saw you make this claim, history is also based on evidence and the evidence we have has falsified creationism.

Besides, the beginning of the universe (natural or not) is not taught in any history class I've ever heard of.

Actually perhaps the history of Creationism should be taught in history class. That the 5,000 year old earth idea is fairly recent and is based on a British clergyman adding up the geneologies using a British understanding of how they should be understood.

I wonder how well a lot of faith based ideas would fare if it were widely known that their view is not what the Church has generally held over the centruies.

teaching what people believed about the bible and when is a great idea. knowing the history of the bible (not to be confused with the bible being history) is a quick path to being a non believer.

The history of pseudoscience would be fun maybe.

But creationism isnt even that.

I agree with you. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that AV does not mean that at all. I am fairly sure he wants Creationism to be taught as something that actually happened.

I agree, creationists want creationism taught but not questioned.
Oh, please -- I have my own thread where I take (or took) questions.

I can't remember if I requested it closed or not.

If you'd like ... cough ... I will be more than happy to dig it up, or start another.

Creationism, along with the Flood, are my fortes.

You probably did after the novelty of masquerading as an answer man wore off and you got in over your head.
