You can deny it all you want, but the dictionary says otherwise.

"Atheist doctrine" is in the dictionary?

All I'm asking is, is there a science book somewhere that has a chapter on the soul of a human being?

Not that I am aware of.

Is this taught in biology, or anthropology, or [whatever] class as science?

It was never taught in any of the classes I took while getting my BSc.

You've either been taught it, or you haven't.

I haven't been taught that humans or any other apes have souls. I also have not been taught that humans or any other apes do not have souls.

You've either been taught it, or you haven't.

You would know --- I wouldn't.

I think you already know the answer. No, there is no science book that discusses the soul. It is not taught in biology class.

I think you already know the answer.
No --- I don't "already know the answer" --- thank you.

I don't think like an atheist thinks, and I don't have nearly the education one has.

I'm just asking an honest question.
No, there is no science book that discusses the soul.
And how would you know?

I'm not trying to be funny here, but, no offense, I am not going to accept any answer a non-atheist gives me --- unless it is "yes".
It is not taught in biology class.
Okay --- um --- could you be more specific?

Maybe you didn't have it taught in Biology 101 --- but what about Advanced Biology --- or all those other types of Biology classes that others took that you didn't?

Anyone besides Skaloop and Mark Kennedy want to answer this?

So far, I have an atheist that says NO:

  • a Buddhist that thinks it's a trick question
  • a Seeker that doesn't know your doctrine
  • an Agnostic who says you don't have any doctrine
  • a Christian who thought the title should be reworded
Anyone else?

Reword your question and you might get a few more answers. Frankly, no-one should be answering your question due to its poor assumptions and bad titling.

I gave you my opinion. That is all. The problem is that you do not think like a scientist, not that you don't think like an atheist. If you stop confusing those two, things will become clearer, I am sure.

I'm not trying to be funny here, but, no offense, I am not going to accept any answer a non-atheist gives me --- unless it is "yes".
What dioes atheism have to do with biology classes???

I have never taken, nor heard of any biology class, that teaches anything about the soul. I have never read any biology textbook or scientific paper that addresses the existance of a soul. And I have a PhD in biology. Take whatever you want from that.

Fallacy of plurium interrogationum. Shameless.

AV, you could have asked this in a much more civilized, much less provocative way. This is why many people think you're a troll. If you have an honest question, why not ask it honestly?

I think the assumption of the thread was that it might call attention to someone.

Then what in the name of Helstrom's Chronicles gives you the right, no offense, to answer NO to my OP?

Since there is no atheist doctrine, he dipped into his own beliefs for the answer. Atheist doctrine is whatever you want it to be.

I did not answer "no" to your O.P. I responded to a question you asked in this thread about Biology classes and books.

you know what... being that I don't know a whole lot about souls, my answer might be incorrect. A response to this will help me answer your OP. So;

According to those who believe in souls, when a human embryo splits into two separate entities, say, five days after conception, does the soul likewise split in two, or does a new soul get implanted..? In other words, do identical twins have half a soul apiece, or is one of them soulless at conception? (Just a simple Either/Or will do, please --- this isn't an invitation to spout.)

[Ain't this a pity?]
Yeah, what happened to the days when a guy could ask a loaded question and people would just fall for it?

pity.

I really don't know the point of the OP. Atheists genearlly do not believe in a "soul." Biology does not address the concept of a "soul" and science in general cannot address intangibles. That is about it, in a nut shell.

(Just a simple YES or NO will do, please --- this isn't an invitation to spout.)
