  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Show me where we get to deny people their rights based on a book written before modern civilization and a book that steals pieces from almost every religion before it. The bible does not give you the right to deny me or anyone else of their rights.
I did not make the claim that the Bible gives me rights to deny someone of a right.

You are quite simply in error.
So, WHERE am I in error? WHERE in the Bible does it say homosexuality is okay?

I thought they wanted to get married because of their "love" for each other, not for insurance.
And they want their marriage to get the same legal recognision given to other marriages.

Gay couples can already be married in a Church (even a Christian Church) that is willing to preform gay marriages. They can already get a religious marriage, if they desire one. So people are advocating for same sex unions to get the same legal rights as straight unions.

No, I have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex. I do not have the right to marry a family member, even if I love them. I do not have the right to marry a friend of the same sex, even if I love them.

Whatever else happens, I urge you to drop this type of claim.

It is fallacious, outrageous, and in my opinion, evil to its core, because it is meant to dehumanize others.

Do you plan on getting married, and if so, for what reason?

Love?

What if your right to marry your beloved was taken away by my actions, but my right wasn't. How would you feel about that?

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

And with that marriage comes benefits, you get them so should everyone else.
The benefits are based on the fact that heterosexual couples can, in general, procreate without outside assistance. Homosexuals can NEVER procreate on their own. Then why not ban marriages where they don't have kids, you ask. Because that would be too hard to weed out all those marriages. The fact remains that homosexual couples can't reproduce. That's the foundation of the family, marriage, the benefits for a family.

No. The legal benefits given to parents are separate from the legal benefits given to married couples.

Actually in many states the benefits are there whether the kids are or not and yes homosexuals can procreate or adopt just as anyone else can unless of course you are like me and really are not very fond of kids and have no desire to have any, heck I do not even like going to my friends houses that have kids.

He does not speak of homosexual monogamous relationships AT ALL.
And yet He does speak of heterosexual relationships, giving guidelines and such. Why does He not speak of homosexual relationships except when He condemns that behaviour?

The passages used to deny gay people of their rights are not remotely clear yet you act as if they are in fact law.

You have yet to show me where He condones homosexuality at all, so I will assume that He does not because I have never seen anything like that in the Bible and you fail to show me where.
