They're just changing the appearance of the site because of the new software - an upgrade of the existing software. Nowhere did anyone (other than A4T) mention in any way that there would be a shift in focus to social networking. Just the opposite, in fact, the new statement of faith says the focus will be Christian inreach.

Don't get upset about something that's not even happening.

its still a forums mainly its the CF Homepages/profiles thats will be the most differant

as for living avatars that will in theory only improve cf characters aslong as we keep the current items look (which we will)

then there won't be much differance

I'm not too keen on social networking. I'm very careful when I'm on MySpace, very selective of what I do there, but I think the upgrade here is a good idea. I look forward to the new changes.

several sites (smaller) have made the transition already

in basic CF forum/post wise is the same as now except slighlty more stuff

the only social networking stuff comes into play with CF profiles they add the comment features ability to have an entire album of photo's etc and the ability to form social groups

If i had time I'd screenshot my current project which runs 3.7 Vb yet currently its not public due to being half done

I've got a sort of unrelated question that might be put somewhere else, which is fine. But I've heard snipets of having something else besides reputation on the forums called "karma" or "karmatic" or something, wouldn't that be a little false since this based on a Christian forum? Since we don't believe in karma, or luck. Just wondering, know that things are still up in the air. Basically just something to think about if haven't brought up already. Good job guys! I never would imagine to even start putting the site on a different server, I'd go crazy!

There is no fundamental change in the site!!!
It is NOT going to focus in any way on social networking.
A4T, I don't know where you are getting this information, but please, don't panic! The forums will remain the same... with some added features.
The profile page will change somewhat.
But that is all!!
The vision and purpose of the site remain the same.

It is necessary... you may have noticed that the site at the moment develops more bugs by the day!
The main purpose of the upgrade is to have a stable site which doesn't fall over regularly

We are going to keep the VB concept of "karma" (individual user rating), but change the name. Don't know the new name yet.
