  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What would it take for Orthodoxs to come under Pope

The Orthodox Church will never come under the Pope. It would happen when you know where freezes over. The two churches would only come together if the Roman Church gives up its errors and will agree only to be the Patriarch of the Church of Rome and not the universal head of the Church. The Church of Rome again would only be one see of the Orthodox Catholic Church.

Hi. I would like to ask what it would take for the Orthodoxs to once again come under the Reign of the Pope? Thanks.

Before 2012 between the Months of March and May Jesus himself will bring all Christianity together under Peter.

Faulty premise. They will tell you they were never "under" the Pope.

We don't have any errors to "give up". The Orthodox would have to once again recognize, as the ECFs once did, that the unity of the Church is made manifest in the chair of Peter.

One is of Peter, one is of Paul, but all in all we are One with Jesus.

:D is that being under the chair of Peter?

Frightened... under a chair.

I am Antiochian... I'm already under The Chair of Peter.

Peter's first chair.

Forgive me...

I will never... under any circumstances, submit to The Church of Rome.

I will burn in hell first.

To share in her communion would be to share in the violence and trouble she has caused in her history. I will not be party to that.

Forgive me...

Obviously, the Apostles, including St. Peter himself, did not see the primacy of Peter as him being over everyone else, since the first bishop of the Church was James. According to the RC teaching, shouldn't Peter have been the first bishop of the Church, which (of course) is the Church of Jerusalem.

And as ALL the ECF's repeatedly and strongly reported ROME as the Chair of Peter.
And I am of course referring to the Eastern fathers at that.

I'd be more than happy to commune with those who follow the Bishop of Rome...once the schism is healed. It's really that simple for me.
As we would as well.

:sigh:

Do you read the Church fathers, per chance?
I am seeing alot of self interpretations in here to deny Rome of the chair of Peter.
That is a new found [probably infiltrated thru protestantism] idea.

Do the Orthodox have anything like Cardinals that are over the Bishops as the RCs do?

I am of Christ, but I still recognize that Christ made the unity of the visible church manifest in Peter and none other.
