  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

CAMBRIDGE — Two students at Central Kings Rural High School fought back against bullying recently, unleashing a sea of pink after a new student was harassed and threatened when he showed up wearing a pink shirt.

These kids are awesome. Way to stand against bullying. The funny thing is, the kid who was originally harrassed probably wasn't even gay.

Way to go!

Yes, bully not exist in private schools. ??

Can be better. Many politicians, John Conyers (D-MI) most notably, who support public schools are the first to send their kids to private schools. Homeschooling is good too. Why subject a child to being around homosexuals who claim they are being picked on, a bunch of bullies (maybe) and a politically driven school administration? Its a no win situation. Best, in my opinion, not to put a child in the middle of these types of fights.

Hey...but who am I to judge? A parent wants their little Suzy or Billy to get involved in these battles, doesn't matter to me one iota.

Is article about public versus private education. My English not good. Thought about students standing up to bullies. I misunderstand.

Private schools, some public schools, have uniform policies. Pink shirt then not be problem. But not understand your statement:

:Why subject a child to being around homosexuals who claim they are being picked on, a bunch of bullies (maybe) and a politically driven school administration?:

Does mean no homosexual students attend private schools.

Seem you distract from article. Why school fault boys picked on kid wearing pink shirt? Do kids not pick on other kids on street and in private schools?

It makes me want to puke!

What a tragedy. Our kids stooping to things like this to try to look like rebels?

I know all you left of center think this is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but you are wrong.

This just makes our country weak and pathetic. This is just absolutely pathetic. I am glad my uncle Mikey and my dad are not alive to see something like this. My uncle was killing japanese in WWII and my dad was in during Korea. Me and all my bothers served in the U. S. Army and all I can think of is how weak we have become. Absolutely pathetic.

Who goes out and buys pink (knowing that it represents homosexuality) shirts and hands them out? Who is you father? Who raised you? How can a young American male do something like this??? Where is the disconnect?

This story almost just gave me a stroke!!! My wife has just told me to calm down.

I am getting nauseated just thinking about this.

This is still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

If someone is picking on you, you tell them to knock it off. If they get violent you punch them square in the face! This does two things; one it will probably stop the violence right there; two, it probably stop further violence from the bully. He will know you are not a soft target anymore, and he will leave you alone and find another target!

Buy a pink t-shirt? How absolutely pathetic.

Its a color. And these kids basically just stood up to other kids for attacking and bulling a new kid. I find it incredibly sad that anyone could get so upset over what is basically a show of solidarity and human friendship because of a color.

What a cool thing to do. And a very creative way to do it! I'm glad kids can use their heads like this and find ways to disarm bullies instead letting things escalate to the point of violence. And it brought the student body together. It's a win-win situation. Except for the bullies and the poster who's stroking out over the idea of wearing pink! ^_^

Best way to handle this is to opt out of public schools. Why put up with any of this?

That's your answer for everything, as though all the problems a student faces in school will magically disappear in private school. It's an axe you grind constantly.

With all due respect to your unca Mikey and Dad, violence is not always the answer. Considering this is not a one-on-one situation, it is likely the victim of harassment was on the short end of a stick.

FYI, pink does not equate to homosexuality in men.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? I ask because your lack of perspective on this issue is ridiculous.

This issue has nothing to do with homosexuality or "attempting to be rebellious". It has everything to do with students who decided to band together in order to show their support for a fellow student that happened to wear a pink shirt.

Your long, needlessly emotional and poorly-reasoned posts are tiresome.

Wrong Happy! It is a known fact that Pink is associated with femininity or females. When a baby is born they are either wrapped in a blue blanket for boys, or a Pink blanket for girls. Don't even think you are getting away with that cheesy argument.

The homosexuals wear what color of a Triangle? Opps! That would be Pink! The militant homosexual group are called the what Angels? Pink! The Pink Angels!

So don't try and pull this lame argument that Pink is not associated with homosexuality.

I bet these kids' dads are ashamed of them.

This wasn't always true, its just a reflection of our current culture. In the past, pink was the masculine color and used for boys. Blue was used for girls. It was thought that pink was fierce (since its close to red).

The only place Pink is associated with homosexuality is in the closeminded bigoted brains of the people who fear them. Do homosexuals where pink... sometimes. Do other people where pink... yes.

And in the end I'm happy that the students found a clever non-violent solution rather than resort to the thuggish tactics you advise. The world doesn't need more violence.

And I guarantee that these kids Dads are proud.

A clear sign of being close minded.
You go off on a tangent, babble foolishness, and refuse to respond appropriately.

Using your logic, women who wear blue are obviously lesbians.

Colors of clothing are a sign of personal taste, not an indicator of sexual orientation. It can be argued that men in pink is not a social norm and unfashionable, but that opens the discussion of how public perception changes over time.

Traditionally, blue and pink are colors differentiating boy and girl babies. Placing a pink blanket on a male baby does not mysteriously make him gay.

So the homosexuals don't wear Pink Triangles? There is no such group called the Pink Angels? These are only in peoples minds. Right.

I can assure you their dads are ashamed of them, if they have dads. They were probably raised by their moms, and only had women around to be roll models.

Just another sad day in American history.
