  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you ever used those terms about anyone else on this site? What were your feelings pre transition regarding these same people?

Now, you are trying to trick me. I may be tired and blonde, but I'm not stupid. I don't have time to do this tonight.

I have a funeral to go to in the morning and my emotions are a bit raw right now.

I am sorry you had a difficult day but how difficult did your comments add to the owner of this sites day? You need to be more sensative of these people too.

That strange. You have been insensitive to others here in this thread and other threads and now you are telling me that I need to be more sensitive to the owner. Who are you to judge me or to tell me what I should or shouldn't do or feel. Back off.

Not to get mushy... or to cause you embarrassment... but thank you. It's been a rough day and your kindness means a lot to me, more than I can say.

Were you at the visitation?

I won't be able to attend the funeral, but I will pop by St. Lukes around noon to pray, since it is right by work.

I can see what you mean. However, the intention is not to "hoodwink" people.

CF, which is now Foru.ms, is still the same site, with the same people (well, some of the same people) who are friendly, with a warm atmosphere (hopefully we can return to that) and great fellowship.

A lot of non-Christians would love to be part of it. When we invite non-Christian friends to the site, we are not doing it because we want to "hoodwink" them - we are doing it because they are our friends. :) Exactly the same reason why you would invite friends to other so-called "social networking" sites. Except that this will be a site based on Christian principles, which I think a lot of non-Christians would find attractive - in fact, having a site like this based on Christian pricinples which means we will moderate tightly and ensure civility, would be something that a lot of non-Christians would be looking out for. I would think that people would be inviting their friends not purely to "hoodwink" them but because they love them and want to catch up with them online in a community setting. There is no "false advertising" as such - we are what we are, an online community. The reason why the name was changed is to address the claim that I was "false advertising" - so I addressed it.

Hope that makes sense. No matter how I type something out, someone's going to find a different interpretation - let's hope I got out what I was hoping to mean.
That was very clear the first time. I'm glad you chimed in. Keep your eyes wide open as I am sure you do. Love Christ but do not assume all those around you have the same intent. I think you know that anyway.

Erwin, there have been some really important questions. By snooch and CaDan. It'd be good to get some answers on that particular issue.

Nothing strange about it. Choose your words more carefully for others and perhaps others will do the same.

That makes sense Erwin. I know that your heart is in the right place.

I appreciate what you are saying and I do like your vision.

But how are we going to have Christian principles with the wiki system. I'm sincerely asking.

Are there or will there be some wiki guidelines in deciding and discussing the forming of the rules?

This wiki thingie really confuses me. LOL

Thanks.

I attended Peter's wake at St. Joseph. I think that is the same as the visitation. (I need to learn Catholic terminalogy).

Thank you for your prayers for Peter and the other victims. It's been a struggle.

What questions ? Is he going to change the site back? Answer already entered NO! What other questions do you want him to answer. How many different ways can the man say NO in a nice way? He is trying to be too nice that is the problem. He has come right out and said this is the way he wants it and it does not matter who likes it. It does not get any clearer than that. Is the decision right or wrong ? I think it was a mistake and poorly executed but how much do you need to torture the person . He has made his decision.

Implementing this will take more than a name change and a change to a wiki-based rules drafting system.

Wiki is not the way to go. I agree there. It is too inconsistent and slow.

Anything based on a "majority-rules" perspective is inconsistent... this is the problem with democracy. Nothing is stable and nothing is assured; only what the people want, when they want it.

Which I assume is what most Christians are worried about with regards to the lack of the Nicene Creed on this site.
