You are the last person who should be coming in here trying to correct people, especially using sarcasm.

Why am I not surprised by the players here and their attitudes, and the cliques which are already so self evident.

Tom show me one recent post of mine where I spew hatred. Please do. I was a total ass in the past. I suck at interaction on message boards pretty badly. But it is something I am working on. Here in this thread I am trying to get fellow Christians to show love instead of spewing hate and venom. I would have thought that was something you would agree with regardless of our respective positions on the changes happening. I have said over and over that there is respectful disagreement and then there is what is happening in this thread. I am trying to encourage people to show respect. I am not even trying to get people to change their minds. What kind of witness to the world are Miracle's posts? What kind of example are they to the unsaved? So I used sarcasm in mine for effect. Show me where I have been hateful since my return to CF barely 24 hours ago.

I believe what you're talking about is sarcasm, not mocking. He could just as easily have said that he didn't feel your agenda was all that pure and you'd apparently have nothing to say. But he used sarcasm to make the point and that seems to be the only fault you can find with his statement.

Sometimes people are hurt by the truth. But we still expect the truth in most cases. You don't go to a doctor to have him tell you that you're in great shape when he knows you have a fatal illness. But somehow, when someone makes comments we find to be wrong, biased, prejudicial or just unsupportable, we're not supposed to point that out lest they find it hurtful. If they're big enough to say it, they should be big enough to hear the response.

The whole board just got a great big dose of stupid. There is no hope here.

The hope would be that people can find better ways to express their opinions about the opinions of others than to use insulting comments about the person's intellect. You may not agree with EdmundBlackadderTheThird's opinions. But attempting to paint him as anything but intelligent isn't sincere and isn't compelling to those who recognize the lack of civility you've demonstrated.

I am actually using this thread to show my children, who are ignorant of internet drama, the difference between loving words and hurtful words. I have brought them over, let them read posts, not selecting them and by and large the posts they pick as hateful have been from people like you who claim to be Christian and want this change not to happen.

You do what you like fleshy. You show your love in the likely manner I would expect from you....goinggoinggone...

My oldest daughter actually cried when I explained to her that some people really feel like this towards atheists and she asked me "Doesn't Jesus love everyone" and I was able to comfort her and explain that the views being presented weren't Christian in the least and yes we are to love everyone.

I do love everyone flesh and for you to assume otherwise is your perogative, because you are not my judge or my jury. So I don't care less. But you are now teaching your child to judge who is and who is not Christian. Hmmm. Quite the sad day.
If you are looking for perfection I will only let you down. I'll do my best to lead you in the right direction. Don't look at me look at HIM (for those who don't know "Him" =Christ)

I don't want your example or any example like yours being held up for my children to see as Christian behavior.

Mark, I already have. Your great big guilt trip of Miracle Storm for her opinion. I don't see it any less hateful than what you claim of her own comments. Come on ... "You made my nine year old cry by your comments." Oh jimminy. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the inanity of it all.

Internet drama indeed, and you've certainly helped it along quite nicely.

First of all, Porterross: You know, I have yet to agree with you on 90% of what I've seen you say in this thread, but I respect you for what you've said to me in your last response. I'm glad I'm not alone in the "benign abrasiveness" category. I wish you lasting peace.

CF would be better off with NO RULES, and simply installing a set of ignore filters (posts, threads, people, avatars, signatures, etc etc) which people can set to ignore things as to tailor their CF experience.

This post makes me sad. I've always really valued your opinions, nyj, and I've valued that EB the 3rd, too. So many of us are showing sides that I've never seen before. I'll be the first to admit that I am no exception to this (although I think that anyone who knows me can vouch for the fact that I do sometimes get nasty and indignant ). I just wish that this mission of "uniting all Christians" hadn't become so...divisive.

From my perspective, he's flushed that which should be flushed and is starting clean with some very good ideas. You're welcome not to like them. I remember you from a long time back, (pretty sure it was you). If that was your idea of a good example as to how things should be done, then I would suggest that your disagreement with these newest changes speaks well of them.

I've been saying, for quite some time, that Erwin needs to be intimately involved in HIS board for it to work properly. Even with these changes, he's not going to be intimately involved as far as I can tell. He's placed the onus of CF's success on the members, not himself, not a volunteer staff. He'll work on the technical aspects, but not the social aspects, and the social aspects are IMO the most important ones of all. If the members cannot behave themselves, he'll come in and set up yet another system ... we've been through this wash/rinse/repeat cycle now several times. The clothes never seem to come out clean though.
