Again to my point, what did all those seekers do before internet message boards? Where did they go? Who did they talk to? What did they read? How did they find and stay on the straight and narrow?

There is a lot of bunk on the net, for sure. That's one more reason people shouldn't be giving internet message boards the same treatment and status as churches.

I've been saying, for quite some time, that Erwin needs to be intimately involved in HIS board for it to work properly. Even with these changes, he's not going to be intimately involved as far as I can tell. He's placed the onus of CF's success on the members, not himself, not a volunteer staff. He'll work on the technical aspects, but not the social aspects, and the social aspects are IMO the most important ones of all. If the members cannot behave themselves, he'll come in and set up yet another system ... we've been through this wash/rinse/repeat cycle now several times. The clothes never seem to come out clean though.

Hey, I agree 100%. If Erwin is really interested in taking the board in a new, better direction, he really needs to be directly and personally involved.

There is no perfect system, of course... the clothes will always be a bit dingy. But I think that full accountability of anyone with power and the ability of the Membership to influence change are both great things.

I wish I had never popped in here to check things out. So much anger, bitterness and hatred. I'm grieved.

Don't read too much into it. As a general rule, the majority of people dislike change. Even people who aren't happy are often more opposed to change because it represents the unknown. I think it's a positive thing to let people air their concerns, blow off a little steam and say some of what has been on their minds for months -- which they couldn't say until now. And while few seem to be refraining from exercising their new-found freedom of speech, I find it somewhat interesting that some are using it to express their distaste for having it given to them.

Here are my thoughts...

I have only been on this forum and I have not been too overly impressed. I used to hang out at the Rational Response Squad forums but I soon got sick of how bad everyone treated each other. I came to this site and the only real difference I noticed was that people here believe in Jesus. Maybe I have been hanging out in the wrong threads but I saw very little pure, Christian love here (and I have been guilty myself). I begged the mods to just delete my account because I really did not think that this website was good for my Christian walk, but they refused to do so.

For me, the old CF was quickly becoming one giant stumbling block. Maybe Erwin looked at this forum and saw the same thing I did, so he decided to change it.

I think that these are some very positive changes we are looking at. I don't see why everyone is so worried about "trolls" posing as fake Christians... Do you really think that they don't already exist here? I have heard all sorts of heresy on this site before the change but, ya know what, I know the bible well enough to know what is right and what is wrong. If you do too, then there is nothing to worry about.

I think that loosening up the rules, doing away with unnessacary warnings and letting the "heathen" in can be a good thing... whether or not we are ready for it is a whole new question. The way I see it, if we struggle so much with dealing with each other how well are we going to deal with Atheists, homosexuals and cultists? Regardless, it is our job to reach these people and they should not be rejected if they want to come here. Remember, Jesus ate and drank with the heathen. That doesn't mean we should be like the heathen but we should not be afraid to interact with them in a loving way. The rules are clear, if they break the rules, they'll be banned... develop a backbone and let them come... lets just be sure to always have the same love that Jesus showed.

I am happy that there will be less rules. I have never been on a forum with so many rules and so many warnings. It seems like most new threads I post get deleted because of some rule I didn't even know about. I don't know about you guys, but I am not a soft, cuddly kitty cat... I am an adult and I can make decisions for myself. The fact that so many ideas were banned from this site adds great validity to the heathens response to our faith... that we are not allowed to think for ourselves.

I think these changes are positive but we should all just calm down. If our Christian "fellowship" depends on a stinkin' website, then we are in big trouble. Most of us will never see or speak to each other in person (and internet conversation doesn't count for true fellowship)... so we should all just get over it.

And here we have it. Miracle knows the will of God for CF. Your agenda is nothing more than your own interpretation of scripture, to which you are welcome, but it is no less valid than mine. Oddly enough and in the end you and I likely agree on less than a lot of the posters here. I think the only things we are likely to disagree on are this change and what Christian behavior looks like.

I am only trying to get you to see that spewing venom towards the unsaved, as you are doing in this thread, isn't going to bring any of them closer to Christ. In fact you are likely to be driving away. Grab your Bible, you like I have one handy, and look up Matthew 12:30 particularly the last part. I hold you no ill will Miracle. I only want to see Christians showing the love we are commanded to show.

I do love everyone flesh and for you to assume otherwise is your perogative, because you are not my judge or my jury. So I don't care less. But you are now teaching your child to judge who is and who is not Christian. Hmmm. Quite the sad day.

I am teaching them to judge whether actions are loving or not and not the hearts and souls of others. I am not always a perfect Christian. My actions are not always those of a Christian. This object lesson was because my son was picking up a pretty nasty habit from the kids here in the neighborhood and I wanted to show him what the habit looked like in adults. It is the "If you don't this you aren't my friend" habit. This is what I see in your posts.

By their fruits you will know them. I never said you are not a Christian. I said your actions are not like those we should display as Christians and there is a world of difference in those statements. I don't want you to stop objecting. I am not debating here to change people's minds. I like the changes but that doesn't matter at all. I am trying to get Christians to stop looking like jerks for all the world to see and little else.

How ironic you would allow your nine year old daughter to be upset so over this mess and even involve her in it. How very sad. If I'm upsetting her. I do apologize, but I do not hate these people darling. I don't agree with the new "vision of CF" Explain that to her fleshy.

I didn't realize how upset it would make her to be honest. If I had I would have never brought her over. But since I did I thought it would be a good illustration. Children know the difference between loving actions and hateful actions. Her reaction was enough to make me not give up trying to get people to disagree respectfully while this thread plays out.

I don't have anything to hide. Do you want to talk about me breaking staff confidence? Do you want to talk about me abusing my position while on staff? Do you want to talk about me losing my temper a couple of weeks ago on my website? Do you want to talk about how imperfect I am? You have no information of which I am afraid. Your empty threats are nothing more than ad hominem attacks. I welcome them though. I have changed a lot since you last interacted with me. If you wish to bring up the past then you have my full permission to do. In fact if you will stop being hateful towards those who don't believe as you do and turn all of your venom on me then by all means start posting about my faults! Start right away!

I have no problem with full accountability of staff. Those that know me know I tried to keep things on the level and fair when I "served my time". As for the membership taking the reigns, I also have no problem with that. Except for the fact that IMO Erwin made the same exact mistake he made the last time, but just in the opposite direction. Last time, the power was in the hands of a few, and no one could stop them. This time, the power is in the hands of cliques (i.e., voting blocs), and no one will be able to stop them ... unless they want to go all political.

So, where the politics used to be in the staff fora (and trust me, it was ALL political), they'll be board wide now ...and everyone will be effected.
