  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

These aren't rules, but simply things that turn me off. There are a ton more too that wouldn't necessarily keep me from dating someone but they'd have to be awesome despite them.

Liars, and guys that play video games in excess (anything over a couple hours a week)

I won't lie. I've probably played more hours of video games than anyone alive. My skill level in video games is so incredible, I've ranked #1 in the world on multiple ladders of several different game. I'm even programming my own video game: www.roamingdragon.com

When Starcraft 2 comes out, I'll game it intensively(50+ hours a week), and then game any tournament that I can get to. The ultimate goal for me is to go to South Korea in a year or two where they have television stations dedicated to video games, and one that plays only Starcraft 24/7.

The nice thing is that while most girls don't understand gamers, there are girls that do. Some girls even think a game player that dominates everyone he plays against is sexy. :)

My ex was a gamer. When he was single he played WoW and xBox like continuosly but when he was with me, he'd only reserve it to a couple hours a week or whenever I wanted to spend time online.

I don't mind guys who play games. It's only when they'd prefer to play all the time, than spend time with me.

Trust me, NO girls are going to continue to find it sexy once you sacrifice time spent with them for more videogaming. Oh yes, and what you have just described to us, in this thread, is called an addiction.

I don't play video games as
Really that is what turns me off
About my nephews even though I
Love them dearly.
Why would you be turned on by your nephews in the first place?

second that,

Ex hardcore gamer here. Thank God I learned there was more to life than playing out my dreams in a box. James you have God given talents, do not limit them to confines of a TV/Computer screen.

After 9 years of marriage, he'd still prefer the video games... his loss. All I can say.
Never stop telling yourself that. Saddly some people do not have their priorities straight.

The key is that you both share a common interest. Just like a wife of a baseball player likes to watch her husband perform on the field, a wife of a gamer likes to watch him play. And it goes around back again so you have to enjoy watching her play games.

Sure, there is more to life than video games, but when you live in the country there isn't much else to do than watch nature then you have to have a hobby.

Finally, when you make a video game. Nothing tells a girl gamer that you love her like giving her special gifts in the video game that you programmed just for her!

Aworkinprogress: The key about video games is that they cost next to nothing to play, whereas gas costs a lot. To get more evangelicism bang for my buck, I think video games are a key component of my life.

If I had the resources or any idea on how to preach to random people, I'd be doing it for sure. Until someone gives me a good idea on what I should be doing next, I'll just stick with cyber-evangelicism. Making a video game that draws people to you is a good way to give them Jesus. Just like if I excercise such domination in the competitive video game field, it draws people to you. I used to be famous online for my gaming, but I didn't know God existed so it was sorta a waste. Now that I know God exists, if I can regain my fame then I can use it as a tool to draw more people closer to God. The biggest key is that God has warned me(twice) to be focused on Jesus in all my dealings with video games. I'm cool with that because I'm a total fanatical zealot for Jesus.

I disagree,

Key component to your life should be the relationships you create.

My exgirlfriend was a gamer, but she drown herself in it to fill what was missing in her own life. I don't know if she still plays to this day, but it was obvious that she did it for the relationships with her guild mates. I know I was guilty of that as well to extent.
