  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Beatles are great, but they get too much credit for the psychedelic movement.

Listen to Pink Floyd's "Piper at the gates of dawn" and compare it with "Sgt. Peppers" which were recorded at the exact same time in the exact same studio a room down from each other.

Pipers is far more experimental .

i use to love the beatles, but i have totally outgrown them, Pink Floyd are much better.
I agree that Pink Floyd is much much better then The Beatles, but you can't outgrow them cuz they're The Beatles.

(and I think it's hard to be more experimental then a lot of Pink Floyd's music. Not that it can't be done...but they were just so experimental...)

Pink floyd went through various stages

No Floyd album ive heard sounds alike like another one,

Even "The final cut" which is very depressing and "The division Bell" which can be very uplifting.

And that's what makes them great :) And also makes it so hard to pick a favorite album...

  :o bu... bu... but Yoko ono is what ruined the Beatles.

i disagree, Paul ruined them, he tried to take control of the group towards the end and the rest didn't want any of this. Ringo,John,George all remained friends after the break-up, Paul distanced himself from them. Listen to Georges song "Run of the mill" and John's "How do you sleep" there both attacks at Paul.

Its a bit her fault too.

Just like Pink Floyd there basist tried to take over the band, the rest of the band didn't want any of this.

I've just placed an interesting piece of Beatles memorabilia on Ebay, you might enjoy seeing it. It's the original Apple Records promotional package that was sent to radio stations in 1968, including "Hey Jude" and Mary Hopkin's "Those Were the Days". I received this when I worked at a radio station and kept it all this time. You can find it by putting this item number in the Ebay search window.

I like the Beatles and all but, honestly, I never got the whole Beatle worship thing.

Sure, they were a good band.

But the Stones have a better catalogue over a longer period of time.

Many of the things they did studio-wise, Buddy Holly and Les Paul were already doing.

There are a lot of bands that were much better. We just tend to think of the Beatles the way we do because they were innovative at the time.
