  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The piano interlude is pure genius!

For the best??? :o :o  I think that her arrival caused all the friction within the group. They probably would have lasted much longer had she not been brought into the picture (God love her).
I guess I get that. But they seemed to be growing out of it, and all bands usually end up breaking into their solo projects. It was better they just got it over with before people just lost interest in them as people.

^ interesting, John lennon was depressed in life and had his problems but if the theif on the cross put his faith in Jesus and was saved and if John believed in his heart that Jesus is the saviour he can be saved. But didn't he wrote a song in the 70's called "God" declaring that he's an athiest?

God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I'll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I don't believe in magic,
I don't believe in I-ching,
I don't believe in bible,
I don't believe in tarot,
I don't believe in Hitler,
I don't believe in Jesus,
I don't believe in Kennedy,
I don't believe in Buddha,
I don't believe in mantra,
I don't believe in Gita,
I don't believe in yoga,
I don't believe in kings,
I don't believe in Elvis,
I don't believe in Zimmerman,
I don't believe in Beatles,
I just believe in me,
Yoko and me,
And that's reality.
The dream is over,
What can I say?
The dream is over,
Yesterday,
I was dreamweaver,
But now I'm reborn,
I was the walrus,
But now I'm John,
And so dear friends,
You just have to carry on,
The dream is over.

I am a fan of The Beatles, My only real experience with them was the remake album "1" I liked it quite a bit, the later songs more than the earlier (apparently it was in chronological order) From what I have heard I have liked John Lennon. I wish he had gotten saved, he really seemed like he was seeking the truth. Even if he did get jaded towards the end of his life...no one deserves murder though and he was a good singer.

The Beatles were arguably the best band that has existed although obviously it's just subjection.

But their influence on western music and pioneering production techniques (recording/sampling) influenced all music genres.

Their melodies and musical structure are great, and to have 3 first-class song-writers in one band is pretty unprecedented.

and to have 3 first-class song-writers in one band is pretty unprecedented.

Queen had four - they released four singles from their album The Works (A Kind of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, I Want to Break Free, Hammer to Fall), all written by different band members and all made the top 20. Then there's also Iron Maiden with Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith.

So while it's unusual, the Beatles weren't the only band with 3 songwriters.

I can't stand The Beatles or any other similar bands.
That's simply because you're too young to appreciate the quality stuff when you hear it. ;)

I have heard more than enough of it to know that I'm not missing out on anything.
Oh you but you are... You are missing out on the Real Thing, not some of the superficial meaningless fluff going aournd these days.

I don't listen to anything that could even be remotely considered "superficial meaningless fluff;" I have a tendency to not listen to anything that is really popular because such music is too simplistic and uninteresting to me. Also, I am plenty old enough to appreciate classical music, which has been around for hundreds of years longer than The Beatles, so my age has nothing to do with it. It's just a matter of personal taste. Just how you and so many other people seem to think that it's not possible to enjoy quality music without liking The Beatles or other such "classic" bands, so also do others say that you can't be a metal fan without liking Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeath, and Judas Priest (none of which I like); such thinking is utterly ridiculous.
