  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't have an Intel Mac yet. I have been thinking about getting an iMac for awhile. My mom has had a Windows XP machine since 2002, and I have an iBook G4... we would both be happy if we had an iMac to replace her computer.

I looked at the iMac and but thought I'd just supply my own monitor and keyboard. Call me old fashioned, but integral units like that make me a bit nervous...like my dvd/vcr unit that the dvd player part died on it :(

I actually have the smaller processor, but this thing really hums compared to my old compaq. My wife and I were goofing around it this last night and found a speech option where ya highlight a passage and it reads it to ya...pretty neat.

Wonder what else I'll find if I keep poking around? :D

I know exactly what you mean about that speech program. We have all Windows machines here at work, but there is a manager who bought an iMac for his office and they were trying that feature out one day, I just heard a ton of laughing from their office and they were all around the iMac.

Oh very nice. How do you like that? I just got an iBook last year, otherwise I would love to get a MacBook. Maybe we'll get an iMac for my mom and I to share... I'm hoping to move away from home and go back to school in September though.

I seem to remember helping you decide to get your iBook!

Sadly, my PowerBook died recently. My friend in FL has it now and he's a Mac guru. He says the hard drive and possibly the firmware is toast. He's gonna have a guy he knows look at it that knows even more about Macs than he does to try and fix it. If not, hopefully I'll be a Mac user again some day! I'd looooove a MacBook. *drools*

I am really considering going away from home to go to school in Newfoundland so I don't think we'll be getting an iMac... but maybe a MacBook for me!

They have courses January 22, February 19, March 19, August 6 and September 3. I am planning on going in August so I'll be able to have enough time to prepare.

No, I don't make reports or anything... and when I did I would use my mom's computer mostly.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I was going to buy an iMac back in like October/November and never did, and then decided to wait until after MacWorld.

And now I've applied to go to school in Newfoundland, taking a computer program so I'll probably want to get an Intel Mac so I have something with Windows for homework and stuff.

I called my high school to send my transcript over and then I also have to write an "admission test"... and it has MATH questions! So I'm a bit stressed.
