What is the age of the Earth?

I did't vote because I didn't find an answer to fit..We know it was formless and void so only God knows the actual age...We know that time started at creation because of the day and night and second day..We can''t be sure if yom is a 24 hr period but we know there were days. God created with age when he brought people/animals into the picture...I could get along with saying the earth itself is old but I think creation is young. Thousands not billions of years. This is just my opinion, I am not a scholarly type. Blessings in Christ..Kim

I am a Christian and I believe the earth was around God knows how long (really long) but right before He made man and creatures, He cleaned it off, put the waters in place, and That was more recent than billions.

Two points: one there are some things that point to a young earth as well, though I do grant that more of the majority of scientists do hold to an old earth.

So, here is my question for you: I will grant (for the moment that is) that the "facts" as you say point to an old earth. Let's go back to the creation of Adam and Eve. When God made them, He created fully formed adult human beings. 2 seconds after their creation if we inspected them we would find that the "facts" showed them to be much older than 2 seconds. So if God can create an "aged" human, why can He not create an "aged" Earth?
