  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, I baked them like my cousin told me to, but you bake them in a small pool of oil, so they actually fry (we like them soft on the inside and crispy on the outside).

You cook them in a 500 degree oven, so, YES, there was some smoke, but the weather here has been so amazing that all the windows are open and it cleared up as quickly as it poured out of the oven.

My aunt used to fry them in a skillet. I don't remember tasting much of a difference. Maybe I'll try to fry the next time and see if I notice one now.

Don, will you post your recipe? I am vastly curious.

Good morning, everyone. I have a pointless interview today. (Pointless in that the firm is not actually hiring; they're just meeting me in case they one day decide to hire somebody.) But I'm not bitter or anything.

I had a crazy busy last few days.
Thursday I took a half day off work. So we had our marriage counseling, got our marriage license, drove out to Cal Poly to pick up my diploma (because the stupid USPS returned it to them), returned shower gifts, and updated our registery.
Friday night, after work, we drove around returning some shower gifts and did a little shopping for the honeymoon...
Saturday we had the cake tasting, at which her mom just about drove us all crazy trying to convince us to pay for a ginormous cake. Plus, she ate just about all the cake (I had to dig around to find a piece of our favorite for Val to try), after which she gave us the excuse that she hasn't picked out a dress yet because she plans on losing wieght... :D Then we went to Joann's to try and find ribbon, and then went to the Angels game.
Sunday we had some of the bridal party over and spent the day putting together the invitations that my bestman designed for us.

This may be the first time ever that work is less stressful than the weekend.

Good afternoon, tavernae regular visitors and other friends (as you noticed I'm too tired to greet everyone).

I'm just back from a 3 days week-end I spent with the MJO (some kind of french equivalent of OCF) and that was great. I had never seen so much orthodox people about my age in the same place at the same time.

There were people from all jursidictions and with different nationalities/roots and everybody mixed and got along well, there was a very good spirit and interesting discussions, I made dozens of friends. I was a bit demoralized those last times by the juridictional mess of western countries and the UK recent events, but this week-end gave me great hopes that those problems will be history when my generation gets in charge.

you think you're a geek? i'm thinking of writing a plugin to display the date on my computer clock in the old byzantine julian calendar, the one that dates the years from the creation on Sept. 1st, 5509 BC. and to do the same for web-logs.

Shall I ask you your recipe, Melethiel ?
There are so many different ones, and I'm looking for a good one.

My recipe? Borsch is not a recipe. To suggest such is outrage. :p

Seriously, there are as many recipes as there are cooks, and each cook has many different ways to do it. I've never made it exactly the same way twice.

Yeah, but how many times have you waited in line on the opening day of a movie, dressed in costumes of characters from the movie? And extra points for anyone who has any of the following in their closet, a Star Trek Uniform, Storm Trooper armor, B5 uniform, Battlestar Galactia uniform (new or old), Stargate unform (the movie, SG1 or Atlantis) or a t-shirt with a Blue Sun logo.
