  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

really not praying to Mary???

Prayer is conversation...so um, why would I say...'Converse ask Mary."...I rather say "Converse to Mary."

So are you saying we do not worship Christ? We worship the Trinity above all. And through our worship, we are given the grace to know that the Mother of the Lord, is IMPORTANT to God, to which we should greet her with love, respect and care.

AND beyond have affection for Her, we may also speak to Her to ask that she speak for us.

As God exalts the lowly, we imitate Him.

WWJD?

We all know Jesus would love, honor, cherish, respect, and adore His mother.

You say God loves you...and with the finite ability to know the love He has, you accept that.
But we are missing the relationship, and the most powerful love He has for His MOST INTIMATE Daughter, Mother, Spouse.

If I wish to have someone on my side who has 'PULL' with God...I dont think any other on earth can match up to her.

And although I seek intercession from family, friends, and strangers alike...I always ask Our Lady to pray for me.

HERE are some miracles I have witnessed;
Brain tumor did not kill someone. She is fine now.
Bacterial menenghitis disappeared from a 6 year old on his the last stage.
A blockage in my MIL's heart disappeared, and she didnt need surgery....

These and more I have witnessed through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.

You may not believe the Lord is pleased with His Mother's requests...but I beg to differ. :groupray:

Oh please, splitting hairs over the capitolization I added for emphasis... I apologize for not using the bold button instead, if it bothers you so much.

Does this mean that scripture affirms that no other name has any power what-so-ever? Show me the verse?

You are fabricating errors. That is the plank. Every supposed error you find is simply a lie, it is not an honest rendition of anyone's beliefs. That is bearing false witness.

This accomplishes nothing. I have not attacked the beliefs you articulated. Simply put, the prayers don't reflect the beliefs you espouse. Further, they do reflect the beliefs of some.

I am not inclined to continue in this vein. 2 Tim 2:14

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Ac 4:12

This goes directly to the prayer.
This is reference to someone else that claims to be a MESSIAH. It is saying don't pray to Buddha, it is not saying don't ask Jesus' friends and confidants for moral aid.

You are turing the whole issue on it's head, if Jesus' closest associates are worthless, what does that say about Jesus Himself? It is really Jesus Himself that you are belittling here, not just someone else's devotion to Him.

Sorry, I should've included the prayer portion.

O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying.

Are you saying that Jesus' closest associates can have no effect on your salvation? If so, then you are effectively asserting that Jesus Himself can have no effect on your salvation. If you don't trust His help, then you don't trust Him.

Oops...this quote system has me all messed up..:D

This time I manually quoted .......last time I thought I was quoting someone else.

 Someone who said...why do we say 'to'' instead of 'ask'.

LOL...maybe I will fix that. lol Sorry.

Safeguard doesnt mean the absolute. BUT SAFETY!

O Mother of Perpetual Help,
She is always helping.

grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name,
AS I said previously...she has 'PULL' with all the right connections. ;)

which is the safeguard
When we know, speak to, and seek help from Mary...we know she is safeguarding us by helping us draw closer to her Son.

That is an experience ONE must go through to understand it.
Trust me.

of the living and the salvation of the dying.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is WITH THEE, and Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is thr fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the HOUR OF OUR DEATH. AMEN.

Ancient prayer....but we invoke Her to be there for us in prayer for our deaths, that we may have the time to confess our sins, and be forgiven b4 judgement.

ITS never been known to fail.

My grandfather said once...
How great it will be to draw close to Our Lady, and when we die and meet our Lord, Jesus will say.."Come in, I have heard so much about you from My Mother."

Just a polite way to say, when we show love and devotion to His Mom...IT pleases Him exceedingly.

Not that salvation rests on this...but that it pleases Jesus when we greet His Mother, and pay due respects, and love and honor.

AS He does.

Not true.

My child trust me, but not the people who work for me.

Jesus' Helpers are humans, and are imperfict.
Who would I trust ?
An Imperfict human, or the Creater of all ?

Bad analogy. Are you a school? Is it explicitly the job of your workers to help your children?

Jesus' Helpers are humans, and are imperfict.

An Imperfict human, or the Creater of all ?
Then why ask ANYONE to pray for you? This contradict's the assertion in scripture that you should do this.

And I add that this means the Lord did not inspire His men...and or scripture NT is in error.

For a break in the action. Re: prayers for the saints...I'm not the sharpest pencil so I have a question. For bible scholars...Every time "saint" is used does it mean those both who are alive in Christ in the dead in Christ(meaning those alive on earth vs depatarted) or a reference to one or the other..How can you tell?..Thanks..Kim

Are you kidding? Jesus, who is God, who dwells in us by the Holy Ghost is going to say He has heard so much about us from His mother? Sounds like your talking about some regular god to me.
