I would like this thread to be open for any of the lurkers that have questions about evolution, science and it's impact on Christianity.
1. How does evolution account for the doctrine of Original Sin?

2. How does evolution account for the Adamic Nature?

3. How does evolution explain Ussher's time line?

4. How does evolution explain Jesus being a man?

Maybe it had better start then.

There are too many hurdles that evolution has to clear, if I am to accept it as a viable explanation for anything other than my Roundup losing its efficacy at year's end.

Why do you continue to insist that evolution must replace Christianity if it's to be valid? Evolution is a theory that explains the diversity of life. That infringes upon your faith because it shows that mankind wasn't created specially in some god's image. That's only a problem if you insist upon trying to take the Bible literally. As you do. Well, whenever convenient for you.

But to insist that a scientific theory that explains how life changes should somehow try to explain your religious dogma?

You're losing your mind AV...

Christianity runs on the doctrine known as Original Sin, which is explained in Genesis 3.

From Original Sin, we get the sister doctrine of the Adamic Nature; and from those come the doctrine of Vicarious Sacrifice.

All hinge on Adam being a literal human being.

Evolution accounts for the diversity of life on this world. It's also used in the medical field. Geology accounts for the change in the earth and the science used in finding our resources like oil and metals.

I agree AV1611VET, and while they're at it they can also account for Santa Claus, Superman and Batman, Big foot,
the Tooth Fairy, Unicorns, Dragons, things that go bump in the night and lots of other things I can't think of right now.

Please just honest questions about the subjects, I tire of the standard creationist vs evolutionist claptrap.

Your thread failed right from post #3. Sigh!

That's just it, who would know which is the wheat and which is the chaff? there's no reason to think any of them are for real because they all came from some ones imagination.

The bottom line for all religions is: If only.

Sad, but not entirely unexpected :(

Well, I was trying to reply to your post (imagination of creation) in the other thread. But it is super noisy there and I have to quit. I really hope people would save some time and electrons in order to give post of better quality.

Are you working on your Master or a Ph.D. ?

Post #3 was spot on though. I'm not sure how the questions could have been answered better, as the theory of evolution has nothing to do with the things that were asked about. It's like asking "How does gravity account for smallpox?". There's no answer but "It doesn't".

Peter :)

Yep. 4 year BSc, then immediately on to PhD. I figured if I don't have to do a Master's, I won't :)

Wow. I always figured that one had to take a Master's, before the PhD, since that's the route everyone seems to take. But perhaps it works differently in my country, or perhaps I'm simply too ignorant about my options.

Peter :)
