The Lutheran Missal Project

More on the Lutheran Missal.

"The Lutheran Reformation was never about creating something new—whether a church, a system of theology, or a way of worship—but about recovering what had been lost. Unlike the radical reformers among the Calvinists, the Lutheran reformers sought to retain, wherever possible, the treasures and traditions of the Church. The chief treasures of the Church are, of course, the Gospel of Christ and the Holy Sacraments. These we must never give up, even though it cost us our lives. But there are many other salutary traditions that the Reformers considered a valuable part of our inheritance in the faith. Regarding the Lutheran observance of the Divine Service, or the Mass, as the Reformers called it, our Confessions state: “We do not abolish the Mass, but religiously maintain and defend it… And the usual public ceremonies are observed, the series of lessons, of prayers, vestments, and other like things” (Apol. XXIV, 1)." The Lutheran Missal Project - Christian Culture

The Passion according to Zechariah

"Among the gems that have been uncovered in our work for The Lutheran Missal, one shines with particular brightness: the compilation reading from Zechariah which beautifully weaves together a string of prophecies concerning our Lord’s passion. That the Holy Spirit foretold the events of the Crucifixion is no surprise to Christians familiar with Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53." The Passion according to Zechariah

Houston-area school board votes to remove 13 chapters from state-approved science textbooks, citing controversial topics

Cy-Fair ISD trustees vote to omit textbook chapters about topics such as climate change and vaccines

State Rep. Jon Rosenthal worked as a mechanical engineer before entering politics, and his father was a mathematics professor at the University of Texas. So studying science, and teaching it, are endeavors that are important to him.

Trustees for the third-largest school district in Texas, which is served in part by Rosenthal, voted to omit a series of science textbook chapters that address subjects such as climate change, vaccinations, cultural diversity, depopulation and humans' impact on the Earth and its ecosystems.

Those topics were referred to as "controversial" by multiple Cy-Fair ISD board members, whereas Rosenthal said there is a "strong consensus around all of those topics" within the global scientific community. The five textbooks in question also have been approved, in their entirety, by the State Board of Education.

Julie Hinaman was the lone Cy-Fair ISD trustee to vote against omitting the materials, saying she did not understand "why one board member chose to override the recommendation of our highly trained educators who selected these materials for next school year."

Benny Hinn reveals his '2 biggest regrets' from ministry, apologizes for false prophecy

Controversial televangelist Benny Hinn said his two “biggest regrets” in his decades-long ministry include promoting prophecies he now admits “were not accurate or from the Lord” and pushing “prosperity theology."

“The two things I regret most in ministry: I was not too wise a number of times with prophecy,” the 71-year-old charismatic preacher told Stephen Strang, host of The Strang Report, in a recent interview.

“I had guests come to the crusades that I think brought harm to not only people’s lives but also to my reputation because their prophecies were not really prophecy. They went outside the borders of redemption.”

“And then there were times when I thought God had showed me something that He wasn’t showing me. And I spoke it out,” Hinn said. “But in 1 Corinthians 13, we clearly see that we all prophesy in part. That means we don’t see the full picture. And sadly — and I wish I could go back and fix it — but sadly, there were some prophecies I gave that were not accurate or from the Lord.”

Favor and favoritism

Genesis 18:

3 He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.
Strong's Hebrew 2580: Graciousness

What is a favor?

It is divine grace that God bestows on certain humble persons.

Proverbs 3:

34 Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.
Genesis 6:

8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
Similarly, In the Greek language, we see in 2 Corinthians 1:

11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
Thayer's Greek Lexicon:

STRONGS NT 5486: χάρισμα
χάρισμα, χαρίσματος, τό (χαρίζομαι), a gift of grace; a favor which one receives without any merit of his own;
Both the Hebrew and Greek words for "favor" have their roots in the concept of grace.

On the other hand, what is favoritism?

Acts 10:

34 Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism
Strong's Greek 4381: One who shows partiality. From prosopon and lambano; an accepter of a face, i.e., one exhibiting partiality.

Favoritism is partiality. Similarly, in the OT, Deuteronomy 1:

17 Show no partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God.
Does God show divine grace (favor) to some?

Yes.

Does God show judgemental partiality (favoritism) to anyone?

Never.

PHOTOS: Catholics gather at site of Jesus’ ascension in Jerusalem

On the solemnity of the Ascension, Christians in Jerusalem ascended to the top of the Mount of Olives, where tradition places the exact location of Jesus’ ascension into heaven. It is the only day of the year when they have the right to celebrate the liturgy in the Chapel of the Ascension, which is currently under Muslim control.

The octagonal chapel visible today is what remains of the Crusader-era church. (The first church dates back to the fourth century.) Inside, a rock is venerated on which it is believed that the last earthly footprint of Jesus before ascending to heaven is imprinted.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 8, local Christians began gathering at the site of the Ascension. In the absence of the custos of the Holy Land, the custodial vicar, Father Ibrahim Faltas, performed the solemn entry and presided over the first vespers of the solemnity, followed by a procession that circled the chapel three times.

Job repented in dust and ashes

Job 1:

1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.
What did he do wrong? Why did he repent?

God showed up in Job 38:

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: 2 “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?"
Job was convicted by God's question about him. Job 42:

1 Then Job answered the LORD and said: 2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Job felt he had sinned by hastily speaking about things beyond his understanding due to pride.

6 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”
He humbled himself before God and repented.

7 After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends,
God rebuked Job's friends.

for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
God validated Job before his friends.

Why did Job repent if he had not sinned?

Before the eyes of God, Job realized that he had a pride issue. He was being too defensive before his friends. He over-spoke hastily without a full understanding of the situation. He repented that before God. God never accused Job of sinning. As far as his friends were concerned, Job spoke rightly to them. Job had not sinned.

Did humans invent calling God “Father”?

Catholics firmly believe that calling God "Father" was not something humans invented, but that it was revealed by God himself.

One of the unique aspects of Christianity is that God is called “Father.” Many other religions view God as a “master,” or as a distant being that is not even named.

However, Christians call God “Father,” and we believe that it is not something that humans invented or created.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church makes this clear in its section on the Our Father:

We can invoke God as “Father” because he is revealed to us by his Son become man and because his Spirit makes him known to us. The personal relation of the Son to the Father is something that man cannot conceive of nor the angelic powers even dimly see: and yet, the Spirit of the Son grants a participation in that very relation to us who believe that Jesus is the Christ and that we are born of God.

A Museum Employee in Germany Was Fired for Putting Up His Own Art

The anonymous artist hung up one of his paintings at the Pinakothek der Moderne. He's no longer employed by the museum.

Someone in Germany was so confident in their artistic abilities, they went ahead and installed one of their paintings in a museum—without anyone else knowing.

A man in Munich is accused of illicitly hanging a painting in the Pinakothek der Moderne, The New York Times reported on Wednesday. The 51-year-old was an employee of the museum, and he hung his work on the modern-art floor while assisting in the installation of an exhibit on philanthropy.

“He was carrying tools, that’s why he went totally unnoticed,” Tine Nehler, a spokesperson for the museum, told the Times. “As a technician, he was able to move around all areas of the building outside of opening hours.”

I mean, I know Biden told a story about his family lore and that's reason to question his ability to be president.

But I wonder if having a bought and paid for president like this may also not exactly be ..."awesome" for the US.

Or are we going to continue pretending that Biden and Trump are "both equally unscrupulous?

'Invasion By Design': House Democrats Unanimously Reject Adding Citizenship To Census

The legislation is expected to be dead on arrival in the Democrat-controlled Senate. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) argued that the Constitution prohibits not counting every "person" living in the country. "If we were being cynical politically, we would embrace this legislation because it's the red states like Texas in Florida, whose congressional delegation is already inflated by virtue of counting people who are not citizens," Raskin said. "We're simply trying to follow what the Constitution says, which I know is kind of a radical proposition around here these days."

Such sudden concern about following the U.S. Constitution.

There is only one Dragon/Serpent in scripture (Part 11) (Haman Hangs)

Esther 7

The king and Haman came to feast[a] with Esther the queen. 2 Once again, on the second day while drinking wine, the king asked Esther, “Queen Esther, whatever you ask will be given to you. Whatever you seek, even to half the kingdom, will be done.”
We have arrived at a very awkward moment. Haman thinks his day is set. He's relishing his high place with the King and Queen at their own private feast... and he is close to watching Mordechai do the dead man's dance. ...... And, boy oh boy is the King taken with Esther! He asks for a third time, what Esther wants, and will grant her up to half of his Kingdom.

3 Queen Esther answered, “If I have obtained your approval,[b] my king, and if the king is pleased, spare my life—this is my request; and spare my people—this is my desire. 4 For my people and I have been sold out to destruction, death, and extermination. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept silent. Indeed, the trouble wouldn’t be worth burdening the king.”
Esther releases a VERY Jewish statement of the threat of extermination, to the King. Esther even states that she would be sold into slavery, but extermination for her and all of her people is too great to bear.

5 King Ahasuerus spoke up and asked Queen Esther, “Who is this, and where is the one who would devise such a scheme?”[c]
ruh roh.... The King asks who is behind the threatening of His Queen and her people.

6 Esther answered, “The adversary and enemy is this evil Haman.”
Sooooooooo.... What does Adversary mean? Could it be....... Satan?!?! Literally, God is showing us Satan through the book of Esther. Enemy of the King!

Haman stood terrified before the king and queen.
It was then that Haman realized that he had forgotten to bring a clean pair of undershorts.

7 Angered by this, the king arose from where they were drinking wine and went to the palace garden.
The King was so enraged at Haman that He had to get up and walk

Haman remained to beg Queen Esther for his life because he realized the king was planning something terrible for him.
Haman's pride was now quashed. He was resorting to begging Queen Esther for his very life.

8 Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the house of wine drinking, Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was reclining. The king exclaimed, “Would he actually violate the queen while I am in the palace?” As soon as the statement left the king’s mouth, Haman’s face was covered.
Apparently Haman was so insane with fear that he was almost on top of Esther, while she was reclining.... and appeared to be sexually abusing Esther. This is a quick snippet to show how Satan tries to steel God's Bride's.

9 Harbona, one of the royal eunuchs, said: “There is a gallows 75 feet[d] tall at Haman’s house that he made for Mordecai, who gave the report that saved[e] the king.”
Lucky for the King, some guy had just had 75 foot High Gallows erected. (Haman is about to die by the very Gallows that he had paid to be constructed!) This is God level Justice. This is YH-H level Justice!

The king commanded, “Hang him on it.”
JUSTICE!

10 They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s anger subsided.

God gave Satan thousands of years, He gave him Authority, Splendor, Opportunity, Love, Chance after Chance after Chance..... etc... etc...

Metaphorically speaking... Satan will hang by his own gallows one day. I would normally mark this epic OP part conclusion with "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones.... But... in a sort of awkward way... it seems another song fits Verse 10. See, Jesus Love's all of His creations. ALL of them! This is why each soul that is destroyed at the end will be a story of pain, within God's heart. They hurt God so deeply, that He concludes that He must withdraw from them eternally....

Taking Back the Land

Taking back the Land

It has been brought to my attention there is no New Testament Biblical example of offensively or aggressively going into a territory led by Satan and taking it for the LORD. there are Old Testament examples, mainly dealing with Israel, but even there I must say since those Scriptures are given for our examples, and Israel had been given that land through the Abrahamic covenant prior to going to Egypt, the example would pertain to us, especially to any land we own.

Luke 10:3-6 & 17-20,
"Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again."
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

Acts 19:11-12, (This chapter deals with Paul and the disciples in Ephesus, where they spent 2 years,)
"And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them."
Acts 19:19-20,
"Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."

Now also consider the Book of Ephesians was written to the Church that had been established in Ephesus, and note the large amount of scripture devoted to power, authority over the devil, and spiritual warfare in this book? This is to a church that had been established in a satanic hotspot where according to Acts there were many unclean spirits and devils, and people who had practiced the occult, to have burned 50,000 pieces of silver worth of occult paraphernalia:

Ephesians 1:15 - 2:10,
"Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
(2) And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

3:20, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"

6:10-18,
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

Now on top of all this, when it's your own land, your own home, and you and your women you had there, 4 out of 4 who were not your wife, and your wife had begun as David and Bathsheba, had done this, "And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger: For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing...They feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.." (2 Kings 17:10-12 & 33),

Then, should you not as the owner and therefore "King" and "priest" (Revelation 1:6 & 5:10) of your domain, do, "that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did. He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. For he clave to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.,"

And further, "Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove....Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord. And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him." (2 Kings 23:15, 24, & 25)

And further, if we minister the Word in any capacity, should not this apply? "One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)" (1 Timothy 3:4-5)

My kids may be gone now, but am I not still called to rule my own home? I'm not talking about the fake deliverance nonsense of the televangelists with their holy water, and snake oil, and prayer cloths sold for money: those arrogant and possibly insane men like Kenneth Copeland, Robert Tilton, Jesse Duplantis and a whole host of other prosperity Gospel preachers. No! God forbid! For they are false prophets of filthy lucre, who devour widows houses for an envelope of dollars.

But we are kings and priests as is written twice in the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Deacons also, the Scripture says they must be ruling their own houses well (1 Timothy 3:12. So we see, there is New Testament precedence for this "taking back the land that you possess. And this shall be the 7th year since I have dwelt in my abode: she hath enjoyed her Sabbath of years, and lain fallow; the owl, and serpent dwell there, the spider, and the mouse, the bat, and the hornet.

Now it is time to "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you." (Hosea 10:12) And to return and clean out all things brought in by whorish women: for any woman who gladly goes to be with a man the first day they meet is a woman of loose morals, though 2 of the 5 did wait 7 days and 3 days respectively, and the one I was married to began in another State as David & Bathsheba. I renounce that life now, and absolutely refuse to have anyone I am not lawfully married to, both by God's law first, and then by mans.

And I will say this, because I always have more female friends than male: Anyone who is looking to live with me, even platonically so called, will receive a "no" answer. Unless she is a solid believer in Christ, and we are married first, there is no living together, because living together automatically makes one vulnerable, that's both parties, and even if nothing happened, it gives the enemies of the LORD occasion to blaspheme, for all they see is a supposed Christian man living with a woman he's not married to. Not being mean, but being faithful to GOD first!

And in such a way and with much prayer I shall go in the strength and might of the LORD Yahweh in Yeshua's name, that He get the glory, where once Ichabod was written upon the house, for the glory had departed. (1 Samuel 4:21)

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates." (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

This I shall do in the name of Jesus! Amen.

Jewish Professor at ASU Resigns, Then Confronts Muslim Student in Hijab

The background is a little fuzzy, but it sounds to me like the Jewish prof got a little sick of the "Destroy Israel and kill all Jews" mantra that's being vomited all over academia these days.....

article said:
An Arizona State University professor caught on video confronting a pro-Palestinian protestor is no longer welcomed on campus, reports 12News.

Video released on X shows post-doctorate research scholar Jonathan Yudelman getting into the face of a pro-Palestinian Muslim woman wearing a hijab.

“You don’t like it, go back to Jihad,” an unidentified man is heard saying as Yudelman literally comes within finger-length of the woman. That woman is seeing backing away as Yudelman aggressively walks towards her.

“You are literally…,” she said before being interrupted.

“I am literally in your face, that’s right,” he responds.

ASU President Michael Crow told News 12 that Yudelman “will never teach here again.” He said the professor had already resigned effective June 30 prior to the incident.

An Ancient Collapse of Earth’s Magnetic Field Led to Multicellular Animals Emerging

A fascinating new discovery offers “tantalizing” evidence for the origin of multicellular development in life on Earth.

It seems related to something that had perhaps never happened before, and certainly has never happened since: a near-total collapse of the Earth’s magnetic field.

650 million years ago, there was little going on across the Earth worth writing about, but shortly after, when multicellular life did begin to emerge and diversify in a period known as the Edicarian, it started within a 26 million-year window of time when the Earth’s magnetic field plummeted to one-thirtieth its current strength.

A team of Canadian and US researchers are using X-rays to revive the images that were captured in the 18th century on the earliest form of photography—Daguerreotypes.

Their breakthrough demonstrations have taken artifacts tarnished beyond all recognition and turned out stunningly clear images of the individuals whose portraits were captured all those years ago.

Tson-Kong Sham, the lead scientist on the project from Western University of Canada, patterned with the National Gallery to acquire Daguerrotypes that were completely tarnished for research that would involve using a synchrotron X-ray device to draw out certain elements present on the Daguerrotypes.

NOAA Predicts Potential Auroa Tonight as Far South as Alabama After Severe Solar Storm Witnessed

Having spotted peculiar activity on the Sun, a federal agency has issued an advisory that the Aurora Borealis may be seen as may south as Alabama or Northern California.

The Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC)—a division of the National Weather Service—is monitoring the Sun following a series of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that began on May 8th.

These powerful ejections of plasma and radiation have the ability to disrupt telecommunications, navigation, and the electrical grid, and the SWPC detected a cluster of sunspots that produced five solar flares in succession.
