Science Reconfirms Two-Parent Home is Better for Children than Same-Sex Options

“It is dangerous to be right when everyone else wants so badly to be wrong.”

The phrase certainly applies to anyone who expresses traditional sexual values in an American university.

A case in point is Dr. Mark Regnerus, a professor of sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2012, Dr. Regnerus published the “New Family Structures Study“ (NFSS). The study compared the effects of being raised in homes in which the parental figures were two same-sexpartners to those in homes in which the parental relationship was that of intact two-parent married heterosexuals.

Poorly Done Studies

In researching his study, Dr. Regnerus dared to point out that most studies were based on very small samples. He also noticed that many of their participants were “convenience samples,” who could be easily contacted and cared about the survey’s outcome.

Where Do You Draw the Line? Betting and Ethics in Modern Sports

With betting becoming more mainstream than ever — integrated into broadcasts, apps, and even athlete partnerships — I’ve been thinking a lot about the ethics of sports betting.

Some questions that come to mind:

Is it ethical to bet on college games, especially when the athletes aren’t paid?

What about stuff like injury props or betting on “will X player leave injured”?

If you know someone close to a team and they give you a heads-up, do you act on it?

And where do we draw the line between smart betting and morally gray areas?

Personally, I keep it simple. I run combos through a parlay calculator I’ve been using that pulls live odds and shows payout + win probability:

This Calculator

It helps me stay focused on the math, not the drama — but I still think about the ethics sometimes.

Curious where everyone else stands:
Do you avoid certain bet types for ethical reasons? Or is it all fair game once it's on the board?

Adultery in Your Heart

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.” (Matthew 5:27-30 NASB1995)

Late last night the Lord began preparing me for this passage today. He was giving me a picture in my mind of someone who is egocentric, full of pride, morally unclean, a liar, a deceiver, malicious, a manipulator, not trustworthy, and someone who fakes their Christianity to appear good when they are really evil of heart and practice. They know the truth of the gospel, and they can even recite the gospel truth to others. But in their pride they are not submitting to the gospel but they are continuing in their sexual immorality.

Rather than submitting to God, humbling themselves, turning from their sins, and walking in obedience to the Lord, they hold on to their pride and to their sin. And they continue to drift, to descend, to go under, and to worsen. The feeling was also that they continued on this course because they were feeling sorry for themselves, moping, perhaps blaming others for their predicament, rather than to take responsibility for their own actions. This is someone who is resisting God and a heart transformation of the Spirit.

Then I had this image of someone scattering the seed of the gospel of Christ to this person, but they kept resisting and resisting the witness for Christ who was spreading the message of the gospel which would set them free if only they would be humble, repent, and obey God and die to their old lives of living in sin and for self. But truly it was God who kept giving the witness the message of the gospel, with the intent to bring down the adulterous from their prideful position so that they would die to sin and obey God.

And all this was going through my mind even before I knew what passage of Scripture the Lord would lead me to write on this morning. And then I read this passage of Scripture, and it fit with what I was seeing in my mind. For adultery is not just having sexual intercourse with someone not your spouse. Adultery is looking with lust for another. And this reminds me of pornography addiction, which a high number of people are being controlled by today, even a high number of people who profess faith in Jesus Christ, even pastors.

But the only way anyone is going to be free from addiction to sexual immorality is if they are willing to humble themselves, to forsake their pride, and to surrender their lives to God to do his will. And this may mean giving up some things which habitually serve as tempters to draw them right back into sin. For there is a need to throw off all that leads you to sin, as well as the sin itself, if you are serious with God about being totally free from all addiction to sin. But sadly, not everyone will yield to God. And God will have to be good to his promise, and he will send them to hell. Breaks my heart!

So, don’t be someone who plays with sin assuming that because you made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ that you can keep on in your sin and that God will give you a free pass to heaven. The Scriptures make it very clear that if sin is our practice, and not obedience to God, regardless of what we profess with our lips, we will not inherit eternal life with God. But many people are gambling that that is not the truth, and that the truth is that they will still go to heaven because they “prayed the prayer to receive Christ.” So, please don’t gamble with your destiny. God will keep his word!

The Love of God

Let's look at the issue of God's Love - in the Greek - Agape.

For some reason I once believed that only the saved who were indwelled by the Holy Spirit and motivated by the very Love of Jesus could express Agape.

I was aware that the works not motivated by the Love of Jesus come to nothing. 1 Cor 13:3

Then as I pondered on Jesus teaching about loving ones enemies, He mentioned that even sinners love those who love them. Luke 6:32

I admit I was somewhat surprised to read that in that verse - the Greek is indeed Agape.

So I had to conclude that there was a function of God's Love in 'common grace' that promoted social cohesion among the unsaved.

Yet we are called to a love far beyond that - given that Jesus said 'greater love has no man than he lay down his life for his friends.' and went on to demonstrate this supremely on the cross.

Now a strong moral ethic in todays culture is called reciprocity - meaning returning a favour - this is what the unsaved do.

But Jesus is calling us to love far beyond that.

You will note that the sin of Sodom was indifference to the poor.

The poor had nothing to give.

Reaching out to the poor then is primary to responding to God's Love.

Yet the priority is first to the household of the saints. Gal 6:10

In that we often fail miserably - the goal among the saints is for equality 2 Cor 8:14

Maybe if we attended to this, the love among the saints would be more visible to the world. John 17:23

Then we would have multitudes drawn to faith.

Family is all about looking after and being looked after.

This is the Agape of God.

The unsaved know this...

That is what they are looking for.

Whatever You Do

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:16-17 NASB1995)

We who believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives were not put here on the earth to live for ourselves, to go our own way, to chart our own course, and to choose our own path. And we are not saved from our sins and promised eternal life with God so that we may go on living in sin and not in walks of obedience to our Lord, living to please the flesh and not God. God did not draw us to himself so we would continue to live for self and not for God. But he called us to holy living and to walks of obedience to God.

For God created us for a purpose, and that purpose is that we might honor God with our lives, that we might follow our Lord in obedience to his commands, and that we might accept his commission (calling) for our individual lives to go where he sends us, and to do and to say what he commands. But the only way we will know the will of God is if we are students of the Scriptures, and if our ears and hearts are in tune to hearing the Spirit of God speak truth to us in our hearts, willing to obey him.

But being students of the Scriptures is not to be just an intellectual exercise, to just gain knowledge. There are people who know the Scriptures, who have even memorized much of the Scriptures, and who have even taught, or are still teaching the Scriptures. But it is all head knowledge. For it is not being applied to their lives. They know how to speak it, but they don’t live it. They can preach it to others, but they don’t put it into practice in their own lives. They know how to sound spiritual, but they are still walking in sin.

So if we are those who are letting the word of Christ richly dwell within us, then we are those who are taking God’s words to heart, and who are putting the Word into practice in our daily lives, by the Spirit. And this is not to say that we will do it perfectly, but that we are walking the walk and not just talking it, and sin is not our practice, but obedience to God is our practice. And so we are those who are teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom so that we might all live for the Lord, doing his will, for his glory.

And when this speaks of us teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, this is not about us all attending a “worship service” where we all sing in unison the songs preselected for us to sing, usually by one person, and usually more about praising God, which is good, but which is not directed at ministering to one another, but which so many of the old hymns actually do. This is about each of us having a song or a poem to share with the rest which will help one another to walk with Jesus.

So, when this says that whatever we do, in word or in deed, we are to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, the “whatever” does not include sinning against God, and disobeying his commands, and ignoring his calling upon our lives so that we can live however we want. The “whatever” needs to be according to the will and purpose of God for our lives, according to his calling upon our lives, and in agreement with the teachings of the Scriptures on how we are to live lives which are pleasing to God, not to please the flesh.

Futurist Only Leaving a Rapture note for unbelieving family

Hey, I got convicted today about leaving a Rapture note for my mother who is kind of on the fence about Jesus, so a letter outlining to her what is going to happen in the world if/when a Rapture does occur is necessary. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. Shame on me.

Of note, today I saw a post about Rapture that I thought was very interesting, so I'll share it now. In Revelation 4:5 it says: From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing

i find it very interesting that the seven lamps (presumably from Rev 2 & 3) are in the throne room BEFORE Tribulation occurs in Revelation. That would seem to indicate that the 7 churches have been taken in Rapture.

okay, on to my note to my mother. Give me feedback and let me know if you've done the same for unbelieving family/friends to help them navigate the perilous trib. Some people may disagree with what i am about to say, but the only response I can give is; desperate times call for desperate measures. I would do anything, at this point, to preserve my mother's soul.

DEAR MOM
If you are reading this, I have disappeared in what we Christians know as "The Rapture." Great evil is about to come upon the Earth soon, if it is not already present. You must leave this world quickly. You cannot take the Mark of the Beast, that will be required for buying amd selling. If you take the Mark, you will burn forever. Do not tell [brother], he will not believe you and will probably encourage you to stay and take the mark. There should be public executions with guillotines. Go and cut your head off, for the sake of Jesus, the only God who is true. If the mark is being enforced without these public execution areas, you must kill yourself instantly by getting into a head-on collision while driving. That is the only way I can think to end your life immediately. You must not take the mark. Die for Jesus and I will see you in Heaven. You were and are a good mother [name]. Do as I say and leave this world soon. DO NOT TAKE THE MARK.

Love your son, [name]

I believe that Messiah Yeshua - Jesus in His resurrected and glorified body has the technological capability to resurrect all of the dead who lived ten years ago.

I believe that Jesus can do this without even working up a sweat and then.....
I believe that Jesus has the power and technological capability to create a new time line that branches from that resurrection of all the dead from July 29, 2025 that will fit with every word in Ezekiel chapter thirty seven?!

I am going to put this discussion in Controversial Christian Theology because I have a great deal of respect for Christian Visionary Pastor Rick Joyner who was given some specific statements that got me thinking in this way with a greater clarity.

Rick Joyner..... "The Power of His Word

“You seek to know and walk in My power so that you can heal the sick and perform miracles, but you have not even begun to comprehend the power of My word. To resurrect all the dead who have ever lived on earth will not even cause Me to strain. I uphold all things by the power of My word. The creation exists because of My word, and it is held together by My word.

“Before the end, I will reveal My power on earth. Even so, the greatest power that I have ever revealed on the earth, or ever will, is still a very small demonstration of My power I do not reveal My power to cause men to believe in My power, but to cause men to believe in My love.

“If I had wanted to save the world with My power when I walked the earth, I could have moved mountains by pointing a finger Then all men would have bowed to Me, but not because they loved Me or loved the truth, but because they feared My power I do not want men to obey Me because they fear My power, but because they love Me and love the truth.

“If you do not know My love, then My power will corrupt you. I do not give you love so you can know My power, but I give you power so that you can know My love. The goal of your life must be love, not power Then I will give you power with which to love people. I will give you the power to heal the sick because you love them, and I love them, and I do not want them sick.

“So you must seek love first, and then faith. You cannot please Me without faith. But faith is not just the knowledge of My power, it is the knowledge of My love and the power of My love. Faith must first be exercised in order to receive more love. Seek faith to love more, and to do more with your love. Only when you seek the faith to love can I trust you with My power Faith works by love." [Pastor Rick Joyner, The Final Quest].

God's Commands, My Delight!

“If Your law had not been my delight,
Then I would have perished in my affliction.
I will never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have revived me.
I am Yours, save me;
For I have sought Your precepts.” (Psalm 119:92-94 NASB1995)

We who believe in Jesus Christ are under the New Covenant God has with his people of faith (Jew and Gentile by faith in Jesus Christ), so we are not under the Old Covenant liturgical, ceremonial, sacrificial, purification, circumcision, dietary and Sabbath laws of the Old Covenant. But the New Covenant is not lawless. We still have commands of God which we are required to obey as followers of Jesus Christ, which are mostly God’s moral laws. So, by faith we must die to sin and walk in obedience to our Lord.

But this is not something to be seen as a drudgery or as something to be avoided or dismissed just because we are now living under grace and not under the Old Covenant Law. Obedience to our Lord and to his commands should be our delight, i.e. something we want to do because we love God, because we want to serve him with our lives, and because we know that obeying our Lord is the right way and the good way and the best way.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Obedience to our Lord is of upmost importance under the New Covenant, not just under the Old Covenant. And the subject of obedience is stressed often throughout the New Testament writings. For obedience is a sign that our faith in Jesus Christ is biblical faith which saves. It is also an indication that we are, indeed, in an intimate relationship with God, by faith in Jesus Christ. And it says to God that we love him. And it means that we know him.

Many people today who profess faith in Jesus Christ are not teaching the importance of obedience to God. Many are teaching that we do not have to obey God, by faith in Jesus, and that we do not have to repent of (turn away from) our sins. For they are teaching that a verbal confession of Christ as Lord is enough to save them from their sins and to promise them heaven when they die, but regardless of how they live. If some do teach repentance and obedience, it is often taught more as a suggestion, not as a command.

But the commands of God are for our good. They encourage us to walk in the ways of the Lord, and to forsake our lives of living in sin. And this brings us much peace and joy and victory because we are no longer living under slavery to sin but as servants of the Lord and of his righteousness! We now belong to Jesus, our lives are surrendered to him to do his will, and by the grace of God we are able now to walk in the ways of the Lord and not in sin.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

Pope Leo XIV: The Quiet American

Almost three months since Pope Leo’s election, he has appeared about as rarely in the news as a new pope can.

VATICAN CITY — The moment it was announced from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica that the College of Cardinals had chosen their Chicago-born confrere Robert Prevost as pope, I shared the widespread excitement of my fellow journalists, Catholic and otherwise — most of all, the Americans.

The result was even more newsworthy than if the cardinals had picked an African or Asian, as thrilling as those outcomes would have been. From a purely journalistic point of view, the election of a U.S.-born pope — something that conventional wisdom had said was impossible right up to the moment we learned it had happened — seemed like the discovery of a gold mine.

Americans would, for the first time, hear the leader of the Catholic Church speak English as his native tongue, and his every utterance would be parsed, justifiably or not, as commentary on the actions of President Donald Trump, himself a one-man jobs program for reporters. The two men would appear almost constantly on a figurative, and at times literal, split screen. Rome would become a media capital to rival Washington and New York.

Or so many of us thought.

Today, almost three months since the election of Pope Leo XIV, the media reality defies those expectations. Apart from Catholic outlets such as the National Catholic Register, which have naturally covered him with the intensity and enthusiasm demanded by their mission and audience, Leo has appeared about as rarely in the news as a new pope can.

Violence continues to escalate in West Bank as settlers target Christian village

Israeli settlers attacked the Christian town of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, early Monday in what has become part of a rising wave of violence sweeping through the West Bank.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of settlers infiltrated one of the town’s neighborhoods around 2 a.m. on July 28, set two civilian vehicles on fire, and spray-painted Hebrew graffiti on walls. One message read: “Mughayyir, you will regret it” — a reference to a Palestinian village that was previously targeted in a similar attack.

Jeries Azar, a journalist and one of the victims of the attack, told ACI MENA, CNA’s Arabic-language news partner, that flames consumed his car parked outside the house while his family was asleep.

Scripted Spirit?

Hi, I've been going to church my whole life. In particular, I have stayed at the same church since I was a baby. What I've noticed now that I'm an adult is what I believe to be an, "attempt," to move the spirit in this church and many churches. A way of supernaturally calling on God whether it's his will or not. Too often do I feel lost in the delusion of the spirit then the actual holy spirit. Maybe, it's just me. Also, this idea of throwing your problems before God's feet. Great! But, then isn't there supposed to be a resolution? When there isn't too often I'm questioned for a lack of faith. Well... My God, Jesus Christ, actually solves problems and doesn't see ours as meaningless. I tire of these things at church. On a personal note my private life life is not well. I'm unhappy, which is likely what attributes to these aforementioned feelings. Yes, also, for any of you reading, I am too smart for my own good, or at the very least too smart for most people in this day and age, and I'm only 36. Anyway, have at thee. Any takers are welcome.

CBS News investigation of Jeffrey Epstein jail video reveals new discrepancies

In the weeks after Jeffrey Epstein died at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan, in August 2019, then-Attorney General William Barr said his "personal review" of surveillance footage clearly showed that no one entered the area where Epstein was housed, leading him to agree with the conclusion of the medical examiner that Epstein had died by suicide.

CBS News also digitally reconstructed the Special Housing Unit, or SHU, where Epstein was held, using diagrams and descriptions from the 2023 report on Epstein released by the Justice Department inspector general. The CBS News review found the video does little to provide evidence to support claims that were later made by federal officials. Additionally, CBS News has identified multiple inconsistencies between that report and the video that raise serious questions about the accuracy of witness statements and the thoroughness of the government's investigation.

Coming from a source like CBS instead of conspiracy theory sites may re-spark and legitimize certain questions people had.

Gender ideology goes against the fundamentals of the Christian faith

A friend recently told me that my refusal to accept concepts like “nonbinary” and “transgender” is hurtful. Similarly hurtful is my refusal to use the wrong pronoun for men and women, such as using “they” to refer to a particular female athlete who identifies as “nonbinary” and has “chosen” they/them as her pronouns. The implication is that, even if I disagree with gender ideology, it is uncharitable not to use a person’s chosen gender identification and pronouns. What is the harm in using preferred pronouns and gender identity for people who are doing nothing other than expressing their lived experiences? The person who made this suggestion is a faithful and knowledgeable Catholic whom I greatly admire and whose devotion to Christ and his Church is beyond dispute.

But I cannot accede to the request. Nor should my friend or any other Catholic Christian.

Words derive their meanings from the broader political or theoretical narratives in which they are coined and used. When one uses the language of those narratives, one is — at least implicitly — affirming their truthfulness. The language of gender ideology is rooted in a fundamentally false and dangerousideology. Its purpose is to eliminate the very notion of sex, and even what it means to be a human person. Even aside from its falsity, the practical, harmful implications of gender ideology are legion. Among other things, gender ideology is the tool for oppressing women, abusing children, and falsifying sex-based categories and data, such as athletics and other forms of public sex-based recognition. Moreover, it makes a mockery of medicine, forcing health care workers to go down a clinical rabbit hole of nonsensical and dangerous babble, compromising sound medical care.

If, for example, we use the term “cisgender male,” we implicitly endorse the false notion that there is another kind of male, namely a “transgender” one. There is not. Similarly, if we refer to a man by female or plural pronouns, we are affirming a truth claim that a man can change his sex, or that he is “nonbinary.” He cannot and is not. To use these false words and phrases is not just a matter of legitimating a person’s life choices. Rather, to use them is to participate in the very false theory that invented them and gives them meaning. Worse, of course, it is the affirmation that the theory is true. But if gender ideology — and the language it has engendered — is true, then Christianity is not. One cannot simultaneously hold to a religious tradition and yet affirm the propriety of language the provenance of which rejects that tradition as false. This is not a matter of accommodation or politeness. It is a matter of speaking truth against ideological falsehood.

All great world-historic facts and personages appear twice. The first time as farce, the second time as travesty

This is a humorous meme, not meant to actually stereotype all guys, conservatives, or people scared of cities. Or conservative guys who are scared of cities.

This is a humorless rightwing pundit, opining about a mass shooting with 4 + shooter dead in NYC perpetrated by someone from out of state.

Pachamama Deniers Double Down!

They’ve Invented a Hoax to Explain Away the Scandal You Watched in HD

There’s a new apologetics style on the rise in the Church of Leo. It’s called denialism, and it comes in the form of smiley, thread-ready explanations that explain away every scandal as a misunderstanding, every contradiction as a nuance, and every public sacrilege as a charming cultural misunderstanding.

Take, for instance, the latest entry from a user known as “Pope Respecter.” He claims the Pachamama scandal was a “hoax.” A nothingburger. A figment of traditionalist imagination. He assures us that there was no idolatry, no scandal, and definitely no public ritual honoring a naked fertility idol in the Vatican Gardens.

Man who fundraised to get baby through surrogacy exposed as pedophile

Yes, I know it's not everyone's preferred source...nor is it mine. However, there aren't any mainstream outlets actually discussing this story.

State documents indicate that Mitchell, age 30 at the time, was arrested and charged in early February 2016 with three felony counts of possession of child pornography; endangering the welfare of children; corruption of a minor; felony sexual abuse of a minor; and felony photographing/videotaping sexual acts in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Now, to be clear, I don't have any personal issues with gay couples adopting kids. Obviously forum rules would dictate that one can't advocate for that sort of thing -- so that's not what I'm doing, but I have mentioned in the past that being adopted to a two-parent home is preferable to getting bounced around from foster home to foster home for 18 years.

My main issue is it sounds like Pennsylvania has some weakly structured laws, where a man who would've been totally ineligible to adopt a child into their custody, is granted a loophole due to surrogacy situations being treated differently.

"The couple obtained legal parentage of their child through a pre-birth order, which bypasses adoption checks that would have flagged the conviction"

It could also potentially be a black eye for GoFundMe (they've since taken down the campaign, but the screenshot of it is above and is still accessible through the web archives)

Should surrogacy options be off the table for these types of situations if they're not going to go through the same vetting procedures that adoption would provide? They're both creating the same end result -- being a person gaining custody of child that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

And that doesn't even delve into the well known challenges regarding babies being separated from their biological mothers.

Why would God allow Satan to torture Job?

Q: Why would God allow Satan to torture and torment Job when he knew Job was a wonderful man and if God is, indeed, omniscient? (New Jersey)

A: First of all, it’s not known whether Job was a literal historical figure. Many Scripture scholars believe that the Book of Job in the Old Testament is essentially a sort of fable — that is, it was not necessarily recording events that actually occurred, but rather telling us a story to illustrate some deeper truth.

This would make the book of Job similar to the parables that Jesus was so fond of telling later on in the New Testament (e.g., we don’t need to believe that the Good Samaritan or the Prodigal Son were real people in order to understand and appreciate the point Jesus was trying to make).

On that literary level, the entire Book of Job is a consideration of the meaning of suffering in the life of the faithful, and in that sense it’s actually asking the same question you are!

For those unfamiliar with the story of Job, his namesake book opens by introducing Job as an “upright man” who “feared God and avoided evil” (Job 1:1). Job was also very prosperous: “Seven sons and three daughters were born to him; and he had seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she-donkeys, and a very large household, so that he was greater than anyone in the East” (Job 1:2-3).
