Mr. Robert Marshall reports that he was brain dead and given a powerful message then sent back to tell everybody who would listen about
his meeting with Jesus.

I believe that his story of resurrection from a brain dead state, is one that can inspire many of us to pray with a whole new level of urgency and faith.

I know that I needed to hear his testimony so that I would begin to wake up much more.

Catholics in Nagasaki, Japan, have replaced a bell in a cathedral bell tower there almost exactly 80 years to the day after it was destroyed by the atomic blast that leveled most of the city at the end of World War II.

An international effort to fund the construction and installation of the bell at Urakami Cathedral raised $125,000 in just over a year, with the funds coming from over 600 individual donors, according to Williams College Professor James Nolan.

Nagasaki was one of the two Japanese cities, along with Hiroshima, largely destroyed by the U.S. atomic bombings at the close of World War II. The city was bombed on Aug. 9, 1945, marking the second and last time an atomic bomb was used as an act of war.

Nolan told CNA last year that parishioners at Urakami Cathedral managed to dig up one of the original bells after the bombing and save it; the bell was installed in the cathedral’s right bell tower after it was rebuilt in 1959.

President Donald Trump’s National Garden of American Heroes could potentially come into fruition within the next several years with the recent passing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which allots $40 million to create a park that Trump first proposed during his first term.

According to the executive order, this national garden would consist of over 200 individuals who embodied “the American spirit of daring and defiance, excellence and adventure, courage and confidence, loyalty and love.”

Among those on the list are five Catholic saints: St. Junípero Serra, St. John Neumann, St. Katharine Drexel, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, as well as three Catholics whose cause for canonization are ongoing: Venerable Fulton Sheen, Venerable Augustus Tolton, and Servant of God Dorothy Day.

Catholic marriage and family expert Brad Wilcox is calling for efforts to make having a family in the U.S. “more attractive” in the wake of “troubling” data released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showing that U.S. fertility rates are at an all-time low.

“It's troubling that we're actually hitting a record low here when it comes to fertility in America,” Wilcox, a sociologist who directs the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia, said in an interview with EWTN News Nightly Anchor Mark Irons on July 25.

An Amnesty International report published on Thursday concluded that the Iranian regime’s deliberate use of cluster bomb warheads against Israel last month violated humanitarian law.

“Cluster munitions are inherently indiscriminate weapons that must never be used,” stated Erika Guevara Rosas, Amnesty International’s senior director for research, advocacy, policy and campaigns. “Iranian forces’ deliberate use of such inherently indiscriminate weapons is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law,” she emphasized. Some 100 countries worldwide have already banned the use of cluster bombs due to the danger they pose to the civilian population.

The Amnesty International report criticizing Iran is noteworthy because the human rights organization has a history of hostility towards the Jewish state.

A recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) report highlighted critical national security failures in its Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) program that allowed approximately 800 known or suspected gang members to enter the United States.

The report, titled “Criminality, Gangs, and Program Integrity Issues in Special Immigrant Juvenile Petitions,” examined more than 300,000 SIJ petitions submitted from fiscal year 2013 through February 2025, according to a USCIS press release on Thursday.

The report found that 198,414 SIJ petitions were approved between fiscal year 2020 and 2024, and that half of SIJ petitioners in 2024 were over the age of 18 when they entered the U.S. without inspection.

If the sun still rises, God’s covenant with Israel still stands.

That’s the startling logic of Jeremiah 33where the fixed order of creation is offered as proof that God’s promises to the Jewish people are unbreakable. Yet in an age of rising theological confusion and mounting hostility toward Israel, many in the Church have begun to waver. Replacement Theology is back, often dressed in more “respectable” robes. But let’s be clear: if God can abandon Israel, then no one is safe. If He breaks that promise, why wouldn’t He break yours? Has God truly revoked His covenant? Has the Church replaced Israel in His plan? Or is the continued existence of Israel as certain as the sunrise?

The answer, resoundingly and unmistakably, is found in the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah:

“Thus says the Lord: ‘If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their captives to return and will have mercy on them” (Jeremiah 33:25-26, NKJV).

These two verses are both a prophetic rebuke and a theological anchor. God Himself sets the terms: Only if the rhythm of day and night ceases — only if the laws that govern the cosmos unravel — then, and only then, would He cast off Israel.

Gabbard doubled down Wednesday, saying that Obama’s national security team “knew it would promote this contrived narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help President Trump win, selling it to the American people as though it were true. It wasn’t.”

As details of the Russia collusion hoax drip out from the White House, the whole thing keeps looking worse for the Obama administration.

Who are these thieves and robbers and strangers Jesus spoke of here? Some of them are pastors of “churches,” and teachers of the Scriptures, and “Christian” book authors, and evangelists, and many who profess faith in Jesus Christ with their lips but whose hearts are far from God and who are teaching a false gospel of human flesh and not of God. They are within the gatherings of the church, the body of Christ, but they did not enter by way of the cross of Christ, by death to sin, and by walks of obedience to God.

For they are teaching a very diluted and altered gospel message intended to tickle itching ears and to not offend sinful flesh. They are teaching that all we have to do is to “pray a prayer to receive Christ” or to acknowledge that Jesus Christ was our sin offering for us on that cross, and that he rose from the dead, and now we are saved for eternity and heaven is our eternal destiny. And not only do they not mention the necessity of death to sin and obedience to God, but they say that no works are required of us by God.

But that is a lie of Satan who wants all people believing the lie so that they will join him in hell on the false promise of eternity in heaven with Christ/God. Generation upon generation, the people of this world have been fed this “cheap grace” gospel of human flesh, promising so many people that heaven is their eternal destiny based on a profession of faith in Jesus Christ or a mere acknowledgement of what they have been told he did for us on that cross, but with no repentance and obedience required.

So, if we are Jesus’ true sheep (his true followers), we will not listen to these voices which are saying that all we have to do is to pray a prayer to receive Christ and now we are good to go to heaven, no works required by God. But we will listen to the true Shepherd of the Sheep, Jesus Christ, who is also the door into a genuine faith relationship with him and to salvation from sin and to eternal life with God. And we will listen to the teachings of the New Testament apostles who taught the gospel of Christ in truth.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

By God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in the darkness (sin), we are liars. And if we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, and no longer in sin, who has the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

So, don’t believe the lies. All of us are going to have to stand before God one day and he is going to judge us, not by what we profess with our lips, but by our deeds, by what we do. All those who have given lip service to God only, but who continued in deliberate and habitual sin, and not in walks of obedience to God, they will not inherit eternal life with God. All those who, by faith in Christ, died to sin, and are walking in obedience to the Lord, in practice, will have salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

How do you support someone who's deep in sin, and doesn't seem bothered by it at all? Is prayer the only answer? I unfriended my niece's "wife" on Facebook. I'm hoping it doesn't provoke a hostile reaction. She was posting graphic, inappropriate stuff (in my opinion) that I have no desire to see. I love my niece, but I'm hoping she'll get out of this relationship for her own good.

We are talking about students who faithfully paid their "income-based" loan payments for a set period of time. If the student pays a suitable percentage of his income until the expiration period, the rest of the loan is forgiven.

But the Trump Administration is unforgiving--especially, as we all know, to the poor and middle-class. I don't see any wealthy entrepreneurs paying taxes on their pandemic loan forgiveness.

As of 2026, they will receive tax bills for the amount of the forgiven loan--estimated to cost them $7 to $12,000.

These little "gotchas" pass unnoticed...but when they are added up, any tax cuts will evaporate for the 99%. The Labor Department is making lots of worker-unfriendly changes. Stay tuned. I'll be looking them up.

Evangelization doesn’t always mean avoiding the noise. Sometimes it means listening for what’s beneath it.

Ozzy Osbourne has died. The voice of Black Sabbath — a band that leaned into scary-movie aesthetics by naming itself after a 1963 Boris Karloff film — has gone silent at 76, just weeks after the band’s final show. While most headlines focus on the mayhem, debauchery and decades of chaos, I find myself thinking back to something quieter … relatively speaking.

The Opening Riff​

I was a teenager when I first heard Sabbath’s thunder. I played bass in a garage band in high school — exactly as glorious and awkward as it sounds. We’d cover their songs (usually not very well), but there was something in those riffs that felt bigger than the music. I couldn’t have named it at the time, but I know now what it was: longing.

They didn’t just sound heavy; they sounded like they were searching for something. That became especially clear the first time I went to Ozzfest in Camden, New Jersey, in 2000 — with my dad. He was far from being a “metalhead,” but he was a good sport and came with me. That day was a lot to take in. The volume, the imagery, the intensity. I didn’t quite know what to make of it all — but it stayed with me.

Swedenborgianism is a sect I have always found particularly fascinating, probably because of how small and obscure they compared to other controversial groups like LDS and JWs. I've been studying it mostly out of curiosity.

The main reason why Swedenborgianism isn't considered a part of mainstream Christianity is that they have a different and understanding of God from Nicene Christianity. Idk what I'd label their view as, since one can argue them being anything from moralists, to partialists or Unitarians. Swedenborgians would say that they do believe in the Trinity, but not in the Nicene sense of three persons all being the same God.

To elaborate, Swedenborgians believe that (at least from what I can understand) Jesus Christ is both God and Man. They also believe he was born of a virgin. However, that is where their commonalities with Christians end. Swedenborgians reject the Father and the Holy Spirit a separate persons. They believe the Father refers to Christ's divine nature, the Son is his human nature, and his activity/power is the Holy Spirit.

The reason why some dispute them being modalists, is that moralists think God takes different modes (he was the Father in the OT, became the Son during the pre-Resurrection NT, and is now taking the form of the Holy Spirit.) Swedenborgians don't think Christ takes different modes.

While Swedenborgians do believe in the Resurrection, their understanding of it is still different from Nicene orthodoxy. They believe that Jesus really did rise from the dead, but he discarded the human body he got from Mary, and now has a divine human body.

As for Scripture, Swedenborgians generally take the Bible to be authoritative, but Emmanuel Swedenborg himself only regard the Gospels and Revelation as part of the New Testament Canon.

I don' fully understand their approach the Scripture, but it has something to do with correspondence and finding spiritual meaning in the text over a literalistic hermeneutic.

Kiev has ordered the pro-Russian UOC to sever all ties with the Moscow Patriarchate by 18 August. It currently has around 10,000 parishes, a number now equivalent to that of the autocephalous Orthodox Church. Defending Metropolitan Onufryj – who has always maintained a balance between rejecting war and maintaining ties with the Russian Church – is Larisa Brodetskaja, a veteran of the Ukrainian armed forces in the resistance against Moscow’s troops.

Rozanskij (ZENIT News – Asia News / Kiev, 07.24.2025).- Ukraine’s State Service for Ethnic Policy has ordered the pro-Russian Orthodox Church (UPZ) to sever all ties with the Moscow Patriarchate within a month. It is giving it until 18 August before being dissolved by the authorities for ‘violating the law on freedom of conscience and religious associations’ due to its affiliation with the Russian Church, whose activities are prohibited on Ukrainian territory as they are linked to the aggression of the Muscovite enemy.Pope Francis merchandise According to the latest checks, the state services have again found ‘clear signs’ of this link between the Kiev Metropolis of the UPZ Church and the ‘banned’ Patriarchate, and the month’s notice is the last chance allowed by Ukrainian law, with a maximum extension of one month.

I have no idea, but two gentlemen from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell and one from the Economics department at Purdue seem to think so. They have written a [peer-reviewed!] paper (second link) “Does television cause autism?”, which has found interest at Slate, which they boast as an “exclusive.”

Waldman’s (and others) paper, which is a couple of years old, is a prime example of how to get carried away with an idea, so it is worthwhile to review it. It’s best to download the paper so you can follow along (the paper is freely available).

The genesis of the idea was noticing that autism rates at birth in the state of California started to increase in the early 1970s, picking up pace until 2000, when their data stops (see their Figure 1).

Texas GOP Rep. Giovanni Capriglione admits affair, denies abortion allegations​

A conservative news site published an interview with a woman who alleges a 17-year affair with the Southlake representative, who said this week he wouldn’t seek reelection.

Three days after state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione announced he was dropping his reelection bid, the conservative news site Current Revolt published an interview with a former exotic dancer who alleges she had a 17-year affair with the Southlake Republican.

The woman, Alex Grace, alleges that Capriglione paid her for “meetups” and “funded several abortions for his own personal gain.” She declined to provide additional details on the alleged abortions in the interview, saying, “you’re just going to have to go with my word.”

Capriglione said he was “not above scrutiny,” but threatened legal action, seemingly against Current Revolt as well as Grace, for what he characterized as “lying and defaming me.”

Oregon officials cannot prevent a conservative Christian mother from adopting solely because she objects to LGBT ideology, a federal appeals court panel has ruled.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Thursday that Jessica Bates was wrongfully denied an adoption application by the Oregon Department of Human Services, reversing a lower court decision.

Circuit Judge Daniel A. Bress, a Trump appointee, authored the majority opinion, writing that Oregon was wrong to require adoptive parents to agree to "respect, accept, and support" the self-identified gender identity and sexual orientation of a child.
