Prayer Request

Please pray for me as I've been having demonic dreams lately. An example of one is where a priest wanted to sleep with me and put me into a spotlighted circle surrounded by people dressed in black (in the shadows). I was trying to fight the situation, but was overtaken. The people in the shadows just stood and watched without speaking.
That's just one example of the dreams I've been having lately.
I pray the Rosary each night and listen to the Bible on YouTube before sleep. I don't know what else I could do to stop these demonic attacks. My daughter-in-law also saw 'shadow people' in my bathroom walking around. It frighten her so that she ran into the living room to sit with me.
Any prayers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What If… Progressive Catholics Got Their Way?

In my articles, I aim to articulate the Church’s magisterial teachings in relation to current and recent cultural movements. Given the recent attack on the Church’s moral teaching on the human person, many of my writings veer into topics of human sexuality and ethics. My critics (mainly from the progressive camp) lament this focus as “culture war” rhetoric and accuse me of using Church teaching to “bully” marginalized people.

Recently, Henry Karlson, a progressive Catholic, published an article titled Accepting Change: The Journey of a Faithful Christian. In it, he made the following claim:

It seems many follow the Christian faith, not out of love or devotion to God, but out of selfishness; it is a mercenary faith… This is why they have no problems promoting and engaging all kinds of evils, such as promoting and establishing laws which harm others – be it someone who is poor, or someone who is a different gender, different sexual orientation, a different nationality, or even, a different religion.

Karlson goes on to label “Christian Nationalism” (a clear swipe at conservative Christians) as a form of “pseudo-Christianity.” The types of “evils” this so-called pseudo-Christianity promotes (referenced in the linked article) include the Catholic dioceses of Bismarck and Fargo opposing North Dakota’s House Bill 1386, a pro-LGBTQ bill.

In this and many of his writings, Karlson treats progressive Catholicism as the most authentic expression of the faith. While he doesn’t explicitly say this, anyone familiar with his work can see this is the underlying assumption. In this, he aligns himself with others at America Magazine and the National Catholic Reporter.

Disney/Marvel's "Ironheart"...a modern retelling of "Faust"

Disney's "Ironheart" has come and gone, unlikely in the extreme to get a second season, so it must be judged according to what we've got.

There is a lot to dislike about Ironheart, beginning with its overeuse of outdated racial stereotypes that should have gone away in the 70s. The characters are a perfect example of writers who don't know anything about real people...they're writing characters based on characters they've seen in other media.

I couldn't get over the basic premise of the show: A technological genius named Riri Williams can't think of any way to make money except to join a Chicago criminal gang. Other people from the hood with even a smidgen of talent--like athletes and rappers--do better than that.

The writers portray Riri as completely self-interested and unable to accept responsibility for her own actions. She lies to those who love her most, putting family and friends in danger.

Moreover, it seems the writers have a glimmer of this: Halfway through the series, they actually have several characters spell out to her what her problems are, and instead of turning over a new leaf (the usual trope), she doubles down. Ultimately, she literally makes an deal with Marvel's analog of Satan to resurrect the dead friend she can't seem to live without.

It seems to me that the writers intend to tell this story as a classical tragedy of a protagonist eventually dragged to destruction by the inability to overcome their own character flaws.

If not...they're just stupid.

How Tied In Is Pam Bondi to Scientology? What Did She Do for Pfizer?

Many of President Donald Trump’s most fervent supporters are deeply frustrated by the feds’ slug-like progress in cleaning up federal law enforcement and decontaminating our fascist, rogue Deep State. Consider that on Day One of his administration, President Barack Obama both demanded and got the resignation of every U.S. attorney in the country. He moved swiftly to purge conservatives from federal bureaus and fill up the ranks of the permanent government with carefully vetted loyalists — many of whom are still in place, despite this being the second Trump administration.

Those apparatchiks colluded with anti-Trump Republicans, including Senators Lindsay Graham and John McCain, to concoct the Russia collusion hoax that led to Trump’s first fake impeachment. They also tried to imprison General Mike Flynn, among other Trump supporters they targeted. The same coalition drove the narrative that the January 6 election integrity protest, hijacked by FBI infiltrators, was the worst attack on America since September 11, 2001, or perhaps even Pearl Harbor.

The Swamp remains undrained, and many of those spooks and hacks are still prosecuting good people. For instance, the Department of Justice was hunting COVID panic hero Dr. Kirk Moore, who helped patients evade immoral vaccine mandates, until last week. It took the heroic activism of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green to pressure Attorney General Pam Bondi into dropping this Biden-era case; Bondi claimed she’d actually been unaware of the prosecution. Do we think the Obama or Biden team would have taken seven months to halt a comparable Republican witch hunt?

However, there have been some good developments of late:

I Belong to No Organized Religion, I’m a Catholic

Go here to read the story. Our poor seminarians, too often at the mercy of the obviously mentally deranged:

Clergy in the Archdiocese of Denver are divided over the handling of a controversial “blood oath” ceremony involving a vice rector and seminarians during a ski trip last year.

A group of seminarians studying at Denver’s St. John Vianney Theological Seminary were taken on the trip in January 2024 by then-vice rector of the seminary, Fr. John Nepil, during which they were woken in the middle of the night and invited individually to swear a “blood oath” in a ceremony involving a dagger and a man in a yeti costume.

The most alarming phrase in this bizarre tale is “Clergy in the Archdiocese of Denver are divided.” Paraphrasing Will Rogers, I belong to no organized religion, I’m a Catholic.

No, that’s not quite accurate. Children are being starved to death
...
A wholly unfit operation called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, established three months ago and operated from Delaware, is the sole distributor of aid to the civilian population, a joint US-Israeli operation. By its own admission, it is inadequate to the enormity of the task.
Since their operation began, after a two-month-long total blockade on aid by the Israeli government, more than 400 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli Defence Force while attempting to fetch aid from one of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s food hubs ...
Humanitarian aid trucks from agencies of global standing including Save the Children, Unicef, Oxfam, the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, loaded with medical supplies and the type of nutrition, such as peanut butter paste, specific to alleviating and reversing the malnutrition of infants, wait at the border of Gaza, barred from entry by the government of Israel.
According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, 470,000 people in northern Gaza have reached Phase 5 – catastrophic food insecurity. Not threatened by famine. Not at risk of it. In it.

Know there is holiness in a messy job well-done

Every day at 5:30 a.m., without fail, the rooster’s call woke me up, a piercing alarm against the backdrop of a delicate dawn. Quickly throwing on my ratty jeans and T-shirt, I stumbled out of the cabin, half-awake, and headed toward the cow barn.

In my sophomore year of high school, I and three other girls spent two weeks as eco-ambassadors working on a 200-acre dairy farm in upstate New York. We needed this early start to get the cows in their stalls, feed them hay and pellets, clean and prep their udders for milking, connect their teats to the milk pumps, record the gallons produced, and when the ladies finally returned to pasture, clean up all the droppings that they left behind. And cow patties are big. And messy.

After the milking, we attended to the hungry goats, chickens, ducks and pigs. The rest of the day was spent mending broken fences, planting and weeding, and other necessary tasks before the morning’s labor repeated itself during the evening chores.

Needless to say, by the time the day was over, I was covered from head to toe in sweat, muck and mud, my clothes stained with pee and poo and God-only-knows what else. In brief: I was dirty.

When my parents arrived to bring me home, they chuckled, wondering how long it would take to air out the cow smell from the car — and from me. The two-week stint in high school, meant to teach us the ethical and theological confluence of working the land sustainably, awakened in me a love of and a deep dedication to a simple, pure, truly natural life.

And such a life is often messy.

Do I have to sing at Mass?

When the opening hymn rings out at Mass, it is not uncommon in parishes today to see many in the congregation stand, hymnals in hand, yet remain tight-lipped, their voices silent. Of course, this isn’t true of everyone. Every parish has its familiar figures: the one who sings as if it were an audition, the one who races ahead of the tempo or the one who holds notes just a bit too long. Congregational singing certainly is not perfect, but there is a beauty in these imperfections, and even more so, it is something the Church values greatly.

The Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgyemphasizes the importance of sacred music, so much so that it states: “Bishops and other pastors of souls must be at pains to ensure that, whenever the sacred action is to be celebrated with song, the whole body of the faithful may be able to contribute that active participation which is rightly theirs” (No. 114). In other words, the Church understands that singing is not something accidental to the liturgy but is a necessary component of what it means to worship. St. Paul encourages this, urging us to “sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts” (Eph 5:19-20).

Nonetheless, what I often hear from self-deprecating parishioners is, “Father, you don’t want me to sing!” Now, the Church always seeks to balance competency with confidence. Someone might want to be a lector, but she could struggle as an orator, just as a nervous singer might fear his voice would only distract from the beauty of the liturgy. Herein lies the beauty of congregational singing and the wisdom of basic hymnody. As the General Instruction of the Roman Missal reminds us, sacred music fosters unity above all else. If you are a hesitant singer, what you should seek to modulate is not your effort, but perhaps only your volume. Be prudent in the confidence with which you join a song, yet join in nonetheless. Your voice, even offered in quiet humility, lifts up the prayer of the Church.

Jerusalem church leaders visit Taybeh: Christians’ presence in the Holy Land is at risk

Church leaders in Jerusalem say they hold Israeli authorities responsible for “facilitating and enabling” settler attacks, warning that police silence in the face of emergency calls constitutes a form of complicity.

On Monday, the heads of churches visited the predominantly Christian town of Taybeh, east of Ramallah. The delegation was led by Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III, joined by diplomats representing more than 20 countries. U.S. representatives canceled their participation at the last minute without explanation.

The visit carried a serious warning about the escalating threat to one of the oldest Christian communities in the Holy Land. Both church leaders and diplomats called for accountability for Israeli settlers and an end to the threats targeting a deeply rooted Christian community in the region.

Australian bishops call on government to enforce country’s surrogacy ban

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has urged the Australian Law Reform Commission to ban all forms of surrogacy, including “altruistic” arrangements, in a nine-page letterhighlighting the “profound harms” of the practice.

“The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference calls on the Law Reform Commission to recommend the prohibition of all forms of surrogacy in Australia,” the bishops write in the letter, which was shared with CNA.

“A woman is not a machine for reproduction,” the bishops argue in the letter, “she is a person made in the image of God, called to bear life with love, freedom, and dignity.”

“Surrogacy reduces this sacred role [of motherhood] to a service contract—an arrangement that denies the women’s full humanity,” the letter says. “Surrogacy attempts to divide a woman's body from her identity, as though she could be a vessel without being a mother.”

CARA study: Mary’s role strongly shapes vocational paths in U.S. Church

A new study has found that “reciting the rosary privately” is the most popular Marian devotion among those discerning a religious vocation.

The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University published its June 2025 report: “Impact of Mary, Mother of the Church, on Ecclesial Vocations,” which includes results from six surveys with 1,091 respondents, 65% of whom were diocesan personnel in the U.S. — including bishops (9%), diocesan priests (40%), permanent deacons (10%), and deacon directors (7%).

U.S. religious men and women accounted for the other 35% of respondents including religious priests (6%), major superiors of men (8%), and major superiors of women (21%). The majority of respondents are Latin Rite Catholic (95%), and 5% are Eastern Rite Catholic.

The surveys were conducted by CARA in collaboration with the Diocese of Saginaw from March to May 2025.

Contemplating a crucifix led to conversion of young Chinese atheist

Originally from China, Shushu arrived in Spain in 2016 at just 23 years of age with the sole purpose of studying the history of the Spanish language. What she didn't imagine was that she would have a transformative encounter with Christ Crucified, which would lead her to embrace the Catholic faith.

"We have no merit; it's all because the Lord guides us. His mercy is immense," said Shushu in an interview with ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner, at the shrine of Our Lady of Covadonga in Spain.

The young Chinese mother was there with her husband Josemi and son, Emmanuel, to share the testimony of her conversion from atheism to Catholicism before thousands of young people gathered July 4 for the opening of the Marian Eucharistic Youth Day (JEMJ, by its Spanish acronym).

It all began on Oct. 31, in the city of Alcalá de Henares. Shushu had only been in Spain for a month and had attended a Halloween party, drawn by curiosity and the festive atmosphere. However, the grotesque zombie costumes, the clatter of chains dragging along the floor, and the shrill, mournful music disturbed her.

Irish team begins search for children's remains at former home for unwed mothers

A team of 18 archaeologists, anthropologists, and forensic scientists have begun excavating an old septic tank this week at the former St. Mary's Mother and Baby Home run by the Bon Secours Sisters in Tuam, County Galway, western Ireland, now the site of a housing development.

Over the next two years, according to The Irish Times, an excavating machine will go through the site in search of remains for 796 children allegedly buried, in the words of the Bon Secours Sisters “in a disrespectful and unacceptable way” between 1925 and 1960.

The Bon Secours Sisters have released a statement apologizing for the treatment of the deceased babies, and their mothers during that time.

The goal of the excavation is to find, analyze, identify, and provide a decent burial for the children's remains — many of them newborns.

Theologians refute misconceptions about 1,700-year-old Nicene Creed

Theologians have refuted misconceptions about the Nicene Creed and the council in 325 that created it, as many churches celebrate the 1,700th anniversary of the influential document.

In a recent episode of the Dallas Theological Seminary's “The Table"podcast, Malcolm B. Yarnell III, research professor of systematic theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael J. Svigel, DTS professor of historical and systematic theology, discussed the Nicene Creed's origins and impact on modern society.

Yarnell explained that while it was “the most universally accepted creed” in Christianity, “it has been challenged at various points through Christian history.”

GOP Leaders Call for Epstein Files, Then Block Vote: Live Updates

House Speaker Mike Johnson drew criticism this week after initially backing the full disclosure of the government's Epstein files, then blocking a vote that would have allowed their release. His reversal comes amid growing MAGA tensions as President Trump calls the Epstein saga "boring" and urges his base to move on.

What to Know:

  • Johnson told a podcast he supports transparency, but blocked the House vote.
  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene echoed his stance, then voted against disclosure.
  • Trump now calls the Epstein controversy "boring" and a "hoax," blaming "fake news" and past supporters.
  • DOJ and FBI previously released a memo stating that no client list exists, and that Epstein died by suicide.
  • Rep. Thomas Massie is pushing for a vote through a discharge petition.
  • The reversal has fueled GOP infighting over how to handle the controversy.

America Doesnt Want More Children.

Thats the impression I get. If you have children, will they get a good education with small class sizes, access to health care, a reliable housing situation? Maybe, maybe not, unless youre rich. Its a lot of maybe and doesnt sound like the right environment for having kids. Apparently a lot of people agree.

The proposal is included in a discretionary budget, a year-to-year funding proposal that is different than the mandatory funding included in the recently passed Trump-Republican megabill.

Residents of the Appalachian region spoke out against the funding cuts, saying the commission is part of the momentum that is bringing growth to the region, from skilled trades and leadership development to technical support and grants for local programs.

In Him Alone

Testimony

On September 11, 2012, the Lord put it in my heart and mind to write a song titled, “For Our Nation,” which, in video form, chronicles some of the history of our nation from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, to the assassination of JFK, to the attacks on the Twin Towers on 9/11/01, to the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq, to Hurricane Katrina, and perhaps more. The song also points to the reality that some or all of our US presidents (left and right) have lied to us and have betrayed the people of this nation, and are not people, generally speaking, that we should be putting our faith and trust in.

At this time I had also joined Linkedin, where I began sharing some of the songs that the Lord had been giving me to write. A music producer, by the name of Gerry Peters, in Nashville, TN, contacted me about professionally recording some of my songs. I immediately told him, “No,” because I knew I was not recording material. At one time, in my younger years, I had a good voice, but now I was 62 years of age, and my voice had seen better days. But he responded to me by asking me if I had prayed about it. Sadly, I had to admit that I had not prayed about it, and so I then did pray about it.

As soon as I began to pray, the Lord began to flood my mind and heart with all sorts of Scripture verses and with Christian songs which all gave me the message that I was to go. So, I said, “Yes.” And then I prayed about what song, and the Lord led me to record, “For Our Nation.” And so Mr. Peters and I began the process of working on the song together until we agreed on an arrangement. And we did this long distance via emails back and forth where he would share with me what he had and where I would approve it or not, and to where I could suggest something different or in addition, etc.

My husband, of course, had to be in agreement with all of this, and he was. But when it came close to time for us to drive to Nashville, TN, to record this song, I lost my voice. It was gone. I could not sing. So, I prayed about it, and my husband and I talked about together, and I told the producer about it, and we all agreed that my husband and I would go on faith, and we would trust the Lord to give me the voice, when needed, or to trust that the Lord had another plan and reason for us to go to Nashville, and that he would work it all out for good, for his purposes and for his glory.

So we drove to Nashville, and we got a hotel room, and I still had no voice. The next morning, I still had no voice. Right before I was to record, I still had no voice. So I stood at the microphone, totally on faith, and when the music started, the voice was there. The voice that God wanted for this song was there. And I had to sing, not only the melody, but the background voice, as well. Then Mr. Peters wanted me to keep going, but the voice was gone again. What we had was enough for what God wanted. The Lord said it was finished. And then we took the recording home with us.

At that time I was also trying my hand at putting pictures with these songs to help illustrate them. Eventually that ended up being more than I could do, so I did not continue that practice. But for this song, the Lord gave me the exact pictures he wanted to go along with this song, and the pictures are what help tell the story. I live in a very broken nation. And we have had presidents who lied to the people, and who did crooked things, and who betrayed the people of our nation, resulting in some of the things pictured in the song. So we must not put our trust in “princes” who lie and betray.

But our trust must be in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him alone!

For Our Nation

Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding

Exclusive: Trump team withholds $140 million budgeted for to help state/local entities fight fentanyl overdoses

Exclusive: Trump team withholds $140 million budgeted for fentanyl fight

The Trump administration has delayed and may cancel roughly $140 million in grants to fund fentanyl overdose response efforts, according to four staff members with close knowledge of the process at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"These are lives at stake," said one CDC staffer, who has a role administering the addiction grant program, known as the Overdose Data To Action program, often referred to as OD2A. "The announcement [of delays] alone could trigger layoffs and program shutdowns. It could really start a chain reaction that's hard to come back from," the CDC staffer said.

The money currently being withheld accounts for roughly half of the funds allocated by Congress for the OD2A program, which supports fentanyl response efforts in 49 states, the District of Columbia, as well as dozens of city, county and territorial public health departments.

Without the promise of new funding, many public health departments grappling with the deadly opioid-fentanyl crisis say they've already paused new spending.

[E.g. an official] statement said Vermont officials have been warned by the CDC that OD2A funds will be delayed and may be cut. Vermont has paused spending "until we have more clarity about the future of this funding."

The interruption of OD2A funding also follows passage earlier this month of President Trump's spending plan that includes deep cuts to Medicaid, the government insurance program that funds most alcohol and drug addiction treatment in the U.S.
