  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Kamala Harris mocks Trump call for mass deportation of illegal immigrants

Trump has repeatedly pledged to carry out the country’s largest-ever deportation operation after record-setting numbers of illegal US-Mexico border crossings under President Biden.

Polling shows that the idea has majority support among voters ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

A Scripps News/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found that 54% of Americans “strongly” or “somewhat” support the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, while 43% are opposed.

A CBS News/YouGov survey released in June found that 53% of Hispanic registered voters favor expelling all undocumented immigrants — and 50% support the construction of federal holding facilities to house them before deportation.

“Kamala Harris is out of touch,” said Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

Secret Service told local cops it would secure Butler building where would-be assassin took aim at Trump: Grassley

Officials from Butler, Pa., claim the Secret Service said it would secure the complex of buildings from where would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks took a shot at former President Donald Trump July 13.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) revealed the claims by local law enforcement in a letter to acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe on Tuesday.

“Butler County law enforcement officials stated that at separate times during the walkthrough when they reiterated their concerns to the agents and counter-sniper about securing the AGR complex buildings, the agents responded: ‘We will take care of it,’” Grassley wrote.

2024 Sees Significant Decline in OD Deaths, First Decline Since 2020

For the first time in decades, public health data shows a sudden and hopeful drop in drug overdose deaths across the U.S.
"This is exciting," said Dr. Nora Volkow, head of the National Institute On Drug Abuse [NIDA], the federal laboratory charged with studying addiction. "This looks real. This looks very, very real."
National surveys compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention already show an unprecedented decline in drug deaths of roughly 10.6 percent. That's a huge reversal from recent years when fatal overdoses regularly increased by double-digit percentages.
Some researchers believe the data will show an even larger decline in drug deaths when federal surveys are updated to reflect improvements being seen at the state level, especially in the eastern U.S.
"In the states that have the most rapid data collection systems, we’re seeing declines of twenty percent, thirty percent," said Dr. Nabarun Dasgupta, an expert on street drugs at the University of North Carolina.

"Jesus is a Jew" vs "Jews killed Jesus" vs "God is (not) dead"

Please note: I am not saying I agree with any of what I will write below. Those are just some logical thoughts on how to build on some of the other misconceptions people have. Even though the starting point is what has been said, if I follow the logic I get to some really exotic things that have never been said. So I like to explore them just for their originality. With this prelude here it goes:

People say you can't say "all Jews killed Jesus" because Jesus was a Jew. But actually, even though Jesus was a Jew, He was one of the Jews that killed Jesus. In particular, "Jews killed Jesus" ==> "Jesus killed Jesus" ==> "Jesus killed Himself" ==> "Jesus chose to lay down His life" ==> "Jesus left the earth instead of spreading His teachings"

So maybe their thing is that they overlook the fact that Jesus' death provided sacrifice for our sins and, instead, they focus on the fact that due to Jesus' death, Jesus isn't around to spread His teachings any more, and they are angry at Him for this. And in this context, yes, they can be angry at the Jews other than Jesus for killing Him, but they can also be angry at Jesus for laying down His life. So they are angry at the Jews, including Jesus.

Now, you might ask: why are they angry at Jesus for withelding the rest of His teachings (by leaving the earth) instead of being thankful for him sharing what he did? Well, perhaps its both, just on different levels. Would you be angry if someone gives you 1000 dollars, but then you learn they had a billion that they chose not to share?

And being angry at Jesus for withelding His teachings (by leaving the earth) goes hand in hand with being angry at other Jews for not fulfilling their task as God's chosen people. And yes, it is possible that antisemites know that Jews are God's chosen people and thats why they are angry at them for not fulfilling their task as such. They are a lot more angry at Jews for rejecting Jesus than they are at atheists, perhaps because they subconsiously know that Jews are God's chosen so they aren't fulfilling their task. So, if they are angry at other Jews who don't fulfill their task as God's chosen people, they can be angry at ultimate God's chosen Jew (that is, Jesus) who didn't fulfill His task by leaving the Earth.

In fact they can be angry at Jewish community as a whole for not fulfilling its task as God's chosen, and simply include Jesus as part of that accusation. So, God's chosen Jewish community was about to bring about something great: Jesus. But then it had some internal struggles that caused it to withold it on multiple levels. First of all, Jewish community had an internal fight where its majority decided to kill Jesus. And secondly, Jesus, who is also a Jew, chose to be complicit at it and lay down His life. Different "bad" things went on, but they are all part of that internal problems Jews have that keeps them from being light onto nations like they are supposed to be. Hence the anger at them.

The other thing that they say is that Jesus can't be antisemitic because He is a Jew. But, in light of modern politics, you can say that Jesus is "self hating Jew" (this term has been yoused in reference to anti-zionist Jews such as Chomsky). And again, Jesus would be "self hating" in quite a literal sense, since He chose to lay down His life.

Well, at the top, I said I don't agree with what I wrote for a reason. Because I realize that ultimately God knows the best, and in God's perfect judgement it was best for Jesus to die on the cross. Jesus Himself was telling His disciples on the last supper that it would be good for them if He leaves. That plus also Jesus didn't "kill himself" in a way we would normally understand, because He resurrected and now He is alive in His glorified body. But the point is: Christian antisemites probably don't realize this. Because if Jesus' death is a good thing, then they would be thanking Jews for killing Jesus. So the fact that htey hate them instead indicates that they don't fully realize that its a good thing. They SAY they realize it, because they claim to be Christian, and this is one of the main tenats of Christianity. But just because someone understands something intellectually doesn't mean they understand it on deeper level emotionally. So it is possible that, on a deeper level, they don't truly understand that Jesus' sacrifice is a good thing (even though on doctrinal level they do) and thus they are angry at Jews for killing Jesus. Now, if on a deeper level they don't understand that its a good thing, then it only makes sense to also be angry at Jesus for leaving the earth, too.

By the way, the other misconception that is directly tied to this is the one of atheism. Remember the movie "God is not dead" God's Not Dead (film) - Wikipedia where an atheist professor asked all students to write "God is dead", and a Christian student refused. Now, I thought of a way a Christian "could" write it in good conscience. In particular, Jesus "died" on the cross, didn't he? Jesus is God. So God is dead. Now, of course, Jesus is alive in heaven. But since the souls of deceased Christians are also alive, yet those people are considered "dead", can't Jesus also be considered "dead"? And its not just a language coincidence. It actually is the reason the professor wanted them to write that. Why does atheism exists? Because God doesn't present to us the signs that we can see and touch. What does it mean to be dead? It means to live in a spiritual realm (in heaven for example) where your existence can't be proven. So Professor Radison's wish to write "God is dead" is a direct consequence of Jesus in fact dying on the cross (if Jesus didn't die on the cross, He would be around to prove His existence to stop people like Prof Radisson to want to write this).

To make it clear, I realize that this line of reasoning can be refutted by pointing out the Biblical passages about resurrection and about Jesus being the first fruit. So Jesus shouldn't be compared to souls of the deceased right now, He should be compared to the deseased after the resurrection in the future, and then they won't be dead. But as you can see we are now getting into subtleties. So saying "God is dead" might not be denial of Christianity as such, but rather not knowing those passages about first fruits.

Now, how does it relate to what I was talking about earlier? Here is how. The fallacy of being angry at Jesus for leaving the Earth, is logically connected to not realizing that what Jesus is doing in heaven counts (because we can't touch it). Wanting to say "God is dead" also logically connects to saying that what Jesus does in heaven doesn't count (to the point of saying He doesn't exist). And also: if Jews killed Jesus, then Jesus is dead (after someone kills someone, that person is dead). On the other hand, if Jesus is alive then Jews didn't kill Him (nobody did), they attempted to but they didn't succeed. Also, if Jesus is dead, then Jesus was a self hating Jew for bringing about His supposed death (see one of the earlier points). But if Jesus is alive then no He is not self hating Jew, he was doing something that fulfilled His ultimate purpose. And then we go back to the end of the movie where that student asked Radison "why do you hate God" and Radison says he hates God for not saving his mother from dying. To which student says "how can you hate someone who doesn't exist". So that confirms my point that hating Jews for not fulfilling their purpose and hating Jesus for not fulfilling His purpose is logically connected. Except that it is done by different people. Atheists (like Radison) hate Jesus for not fulfilling His purpose, while Christian antisemities hate Jews (otehr than Jesus) for the same thing.

What I am suggesting is a theoretical hybrid between an atheist and a Christian who would hate Jesus for not fulfilling His purpose (like atheists do) and hate Jews for not fulfilling theirs (like Christians do). And said hybrid would be able to say "yes Jesus is a Jew, and I hate Jesus for the same reason I hate other Jews".

Kamala thinks the government has the right to walk into your home to make sure your guns are compliant with said government's rules.

my long time fellow camper and "unit mate" died

I go to an organization called for people with disabilites. I have been going for 25 years due to a moderate case of cerebral palsy. Tonight I learned that another long-time patriciate in my age group ( we call them units) died. He played in our monthly baseball games. He LOVED base ball as shown by the fact that he almost always hit them "out of the park" will certainly miss him at the games the first one of the semester is Saturday

Do you think the government should be allowed to come into our homes and conduct gun safety checks?

For example, stopping by and checking to see if we keep our guns locked up or not?

Prayer Request- Victim of a Crime

HI everyone, I would greatly appreciate your prayers- I have been the victim of a crime. I have cell phone service from Verizon, I just received a bill from them for $176 due Sept 23, I checked the bill and it looks like I am being billed $100 a month for an Apple iPhone 15 that I did not buy and never received. I spent like 2 hours on the phone with Verizon this afternoon and I talked with Customer service, they sent me over to their fraud team, the fraud team sent me to customer service, then they sent me back to fraud again, and then back to customer service again. They told me it had been over 180 days since this all started so due to their regulations they could not do anything about the fraudulent charges, this started in February and I did not realize what was happening until recently. They are now saying they can remove the iPhone from my account but they will charge me $900 for it which I cannot afford, I am already maxed out on my credit card. If you wouldn't mind pray that justice would be done and the fraudulent charges would be dropped and I would not have to pay the balance of the cell phone which I never purchased. Thank you!

Kamala First Democrat In Decades To Not Get Teamsters Endorsement After Members Back Trump

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced on Wednesday that they will not be endorsing any candidate for president this fall, the first time that they haven’t made a presidential endorsement in nearly 30 years.

The announcement came after the 1.3+ million member union released internal polling data that showed that its members shifted from supporting President Joe Biden over former President Donald Trump to overwhelmingly supporting Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris after Biden dropped out of the race.

Very cowardly of the Teemsters.

Teamsters union declines to endorse in presidential election, breaking decades of precedent

Ahead of the decision, the Teamsters shared internal data showing that a majority of members supported Trump over Harris. According to an electronic member poll that was initiated after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, about 60% of members believed the union should endorse Trump while 34% supported Harris. About 6% said they supported another candidate.

Strange times...

Finding any Denomination and joining/getting baptized there

I believe in the basic things, Trinity, Jesus is God in the Flesh, he died for our sins, was buried and resurrected from the dead. The Bible is the word of God.
but beyond that point I am not sure on any doctrine.

I like to look at the oldest denominations first and see what they teach. Even if I later on have my beliefs lined up with a different denomination, I figured I learned something.

It doesn't make much a difference what denomination we are baptized in right?

Abortion pills and medical negligence killed woman, not pro-life laws, doctor says

Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday amplified claims by several news outlets that a woman has died as the result of pro-life laws. But doctors say that the Georgia woman, Amber Thurman, died because of the abortion pill and medical malpractice.

ProPublica’s disputed report claimed that Georgia’s restrictions on abortion delayed access to medical care, causing the death of a woman named Amber Nicole Thurman. Thurman died at age 28 in 2022 after being hospitalized due to an infection after she took abortion pills, according to the report.

Thurman received the abortion pills out of state in North Carolina because she was more than six weeks pregnant, the report says. Georgia law limits abortion after six weeks, but Thurman was about nine weeks pregnant when she procured the chemical abortion, according to the Washington Examiner.

If you believe that Jesus does not assert that it is possible for you to forgive other people when they sin against you, and you wish to wager on it,

I am taking wagers here. This OP is NOT about whether Jesus asserts that it is possible for you to forgive other people when they sin against you. I'm assuming you don't think so. This post focuses on wagering on what you believe.

Matthew 6:

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Let proposition P1 = Jesus asserts that it is possible for you to forgive other people when they sin against you.

P2 = not P1.

Between 0 and 10, how much weight do you put on each of the above propositions? The stronger your belief in a proposition, the higher the weight. Your weighting scheme will determine the betting odds.

Fasting

Hello everyone,

I have been having severe anxiety over wether or not I need to fast. Recently I felt like I love food too much. Specifically in regards to going out to eat or ordering out. I sometimes have felt like food is something I really desire and something that I also look forward to, to bring me satisfaction which I know is a sin and is wrong. I repented of my idolatry and I am trying to re-frame my mind around food being what it is, just food. However, I am not sure if God is calling me to fast or not. I feel like I am not fully repenting if I am not fasting. I was thinking about fasting from restaurants but I have two events coming up that require going to one and I am not sure if I should not go to them or not since all this worry started after I had made these plans. I just need advice on what to do. I never struggled with gluttony or overeating, I know my limits. The idol is more an idol of the heart, thinking that food will bring me satisfaction when it wont. I also have never fasted before so I have no idea where to start.

White House Defends Trump Threat Label Amid Violence

“It’s been only two days since somebody allegedly tried to kill Donald Trump again and you’re here at the podium at the White House briefing room calling him a threat,” Doocy said. “How many more assassination attempts on Donald Trump until the president and the vice president and you pick a different word to describe Trump other than ‘threat’?”

Obviously they have no concern for Trump's safety.

Any Spirit-filled Christian that was previously addicted to crack cocaine - or ministering and witnessing to one who is - available to give me advice?

Please advise. This is new to me. The worst I ever used in my BC days was weed - and having difficulty understanding the utter hold this poison has over them.

Asking also for anyone who reads this to please pray for Mary and Margie, for deliverance from this, salvation, and assurance of salvation, please. And the Holy Spirit's wisdom (and patience!) for me.

Thanks and God bless!

Earth's new 'mini-moon' will orbit our planet for the next 2 months

Earth is set to gain another moon by the end of the month — a small asteroid that will be snared by our planet's gravity until the end of the year, scientists say.

The mini-moon, an asteroid called 2024 PT5, was spotted by the Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) on Aug. 7. The space rock will make one complete orbit of our planet between Sept. 29 and Nov. 25 before escaping Earth's gravity.

Would Vance be President

As you all may or may not know the earliest ballots have already begun going out with more early voting to happen well early. At this point, given that if some time between now and the time of the election Trump is killed ( not that I want that nor would I even if I were not a Trump supporter, but I would assune that if that were to happen it would be treated as if Trump was president? That is to say that Vance would take the top of the ticket by default and if Trump "won" it would just go to Vance just like it would if something happened to Trump at 12:01PM on January 20th 2025.?

California Passes AI Deep fake Laws: More Being Considered

California has passed dome AI deep fake laws, banning the use of AI for
creating some products.

Most of what is bannded, so far, is the abuse of actor's voices and images,
and the generation of fake sexual images, and the use of AI for some
criminal activities.

Still being considered, is a bill that would require AI products to be certified
as safe from being used as tools for other criminal activities.

It's about time. The big software companies have long had their way, being
free to create software products that may as well be tailor made for the use of large,
criminal entities.

Software products that are so potentially dangerous, as AI is, should be regulated
in the same way that conventional weapons manufacture is.

Public Speech, Threats by NutBars, and Moral Responsibility

(NOTE: I am using the term "NutBar" to informally refer to a person who may
be unstable in a number of different ways, without trying to imply other terms
that may violate this sites sensibilities as to unacceptable language....)

This response by a political candidate, underlines the moral fog under
which American politicians are operating.

And, that this moral fog should not be artificially perceived as applying
only to politics.

Christians should be considering the larger moral topics, that include...

1 Is it morally acceptable for a candidate who has used the white supremecist
language of Hitler, to object to being labelled as having used the same Aryan
supremecist language that Hitler used, between the World Wars?
Is it right for Christians to call a spade, a "spade"?

2 Is it right for a political candidate to object to SOME statement by an opponent
(in order to try to make some political hay), while ignoring their own similar
statements (that could be politically damaging). Is not this a form of hypocrisy?

3 Is it right for a candidate to vociferously try to defend their freedom to say
ANYTHING in public, supposedly under the blanket coverage of "freedom of
speech", while attacking their opponents (supposed) similar freedom of speech
(because it supposedly may trigger some nutbars in America to try to engage in
criminal activity)?

This action actually asserts that a candidate may arbitrarily hold someone
personally responsible for SOME statements that they have said, while they
hold THEMSELVES not personally responsible for similar statements that they
have said in public.

The issue is whether or not an individual in America, personally has the right to adjudicate
whether or not some statement made by someone else, violates the basic legal principle
that we are ALL responsible for what we say. Anyone who claims this personal right, is
putting themselves above the fair rule of law in America (which DOES have the legal right
to adjudicate specific responsibilities, for what each of us says).

4 ***** Perhaps the most CONTENTIOUS issue that this article suggests (for
Christians to consider), is whether an individual is morally-ethically responsible for
the actions of some NutBar, if that individual speaks honestly and truthfully about
some topic or situation, and some NutBar sees or hears that language, and "goes
ballistic" and tries to carry out some illegal operation.

5 Do American Christians have a moral-ethical OUGHT, to speak clearly about
moral-ethical issues, after being careful to verify that what we say matches the
facts? Do American Christians have some moral-ethical OUGHT to suppress
honest ME evaluations, because some Americans may not like a historical
Christian worldview, and find it offensive.

Do American Christians have a moral-ethical OUGHT to speak against ridiculous
conspiracy theories, that have NOT been demonstrated with solid evidence?
---------- ----------

The promotion of a ridiculous conspiracy theory (about Immigrants eating pets in
Springfield), has resulted in multiple bomb threats to schools in Springfield.
Obviously, there are NutBars out there who believe this conspiracy theory, cannot
or do not want to try to verify it, and somehow identify with making bomb threats
as some sort of "striking a blow for truth". How can Christians support this use
of conspiracy theories?

There are Christians who still support the conspiracy theory that Trump won the
2020 presidential election, despite careful investigation that could not turn up
ANY substantial fraud. Trump and his friends, have to date filed about 60 lawsuits
charging fraud in the 2020 election. BUT none of these lawsuits could present
any relevant or accurate evidence, of fraud. How could Christians still support this
conspiracy theory? There are NutBars who (obviously) are willing to gather at the
Capital Building, and riot, and kill, and destroy property in order to show their
support for this conspiracy theory. Is it wrong for Christians to appose this
conspiracy theory lie, even though there are people who would carry out
criminal acts to show their support for this conspiracy theory?
---------- ----------

Instead of getting caught up in some assertion by some political figure or
another, Christians ought to be dealing with the basic underlying issues of
morality-ethics.

To be silent on these important underlying ME issues, is to tacitly
agree that they do not exist. And THAT, is unaceptable for Christians.
