  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a question and problem

I want to learn to better Obey God. Only for me learning from the bible is massively difficult. Some parts of the bible I find interesting other times it's boring (I'm not knocking the bible or trying to be rude or hurt Gods feelings.). It doesn't help I'm not book smart. I learn more from others then from books or just figuring things out for myself. Sadly the bible is not something I can figure out on my own. Some things I understand quickly but there lots of things I can't break down. So let me give you an example.

So take Genesis's. I can read the book of Genesis's and understand the surface layers of things. However when I try and learn what other hidden things are being taught I got nothing. My brain just doesn't work that way. It's why I did terrible in school. If some one explains something to me I can understand it. Trying to unravel the bible hidden stuff is way beyond my abilities. It actually makes me feel stupid. Some times I might pick up on something but most of the time I don't.

People given me advice on how to study the bible and that advice would probably work for most people but not me. For most people studying the bible is like going up a steep hill or a mountain hard but do able. For me its like defying gravity and learning how to fly. I don't know what to do. Right now I just try and learn from others and expand my knowledge that way. I don't know what to do?

How to love GOING to church?

In short, it's a real struggle for me to go to church and has been for years. If left up to me, I'd be inconsistent at best or absent, at worst.

God has told me that he wants me to attend church more and build relationships there. He communicated it in a way that said He considered it URGENT for me to address. Since then, Ive been attending. But if I'm being honest, it still feels like a weight around my neck everytime I'm getting ready to go. Once I'm there, I'm content. The battle is in the GOING.

Any advice? Thanks.

(PS. I know church is not the building. That's not the focus.)

Fellowship Distinctions in scripture associated with being born again and being filled with The Holy Spirit (Read the rule-set before you post)

First the ruleset for a fellowship tag,...

Use this tag for any thread where you just want to share chit chat or discuss a topic with other like-minded members. There should be No debate at all, it is strictly fellowship in nature. The OP of these threads can report their own thread if it crosses the line into debate and staff will assist in a thread clean up (please see above for a definition of debate).

I've had this topic in one form or another keep coming up to me on here over the past year or more, so I feel The Holy Spirit wanting me to dig into it a bit and provide some food for thought on the nuances found in scripture associated with it. It will take me a bit to collect my thoughts on it and how I wish to approach the subject, but I will over time. It will involve experiences associated with scripture. It won't be some fruitless academic endeavor.

Again this is not a debate thread. You don't like the direction I'm taking on the subject, make your own thread. Don't clutter up mine with your disagreements.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov arrested in France, source says | in re criminality, "lack of moderators and a lack of cooperation with police"

There was no official confirmation from France of the arrest, which French and Russian media have also reported, saying that Durov was arrested shortly after arriving at Le Bourget airport on a private jet from Azerbaijan.

France's BFM and TF1 said that Durov, who has dual French and United Arab Emirates citizenship, was arrested as part of a preliminary police investigation into allowing possible criminality due to a lack of moderators on Telegram and a lack of cooperation with police. Reuters' police source could not confirm that.

Russia began blocking Telegram in 2018 after the app refused to comply with a court order to grant state security services access to its users' encrypted messages.

Telegram's increasing popularity, however, has prompted scrutiny from several countries in Europe, including France, on security and data breach concerns.

Pray for Our Enemies

Hello folks. Today's devotional is extremely relevant in these turbulent times that the world has been going through over the past decade, and especially over the past few years. We must set aside some time each day to pray, and sometimes, we must pray for those who we do not like, or our enemies.

Date
August 25, 2024 | Pray for Our Enemies
Verse
Matthew 5:44-46 (NIV): "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?"

Luke 6:28-33 (NIV): "Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. ‘If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.’"

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV): "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Romans 12:14-18 (NIV): "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
Explanation
The four passages you've provided from the Bible emphasize love and forgiveness towards one's enemies. These teachings are central to Christianity and help followers emulate God by loving and treating others as they would want to be treated, even those who may cause harm or pain. Here is a breakdown of each passage:
  1. Matthew 5:44-48 discusses the importance of loving one's enemies and praying for their wellbeing despite any negative actions taken against oneself. This teaching encourages followers to show compassion, kindness, and forgiveness even in difficult circumstances to reflect God's love and mercy.
  2. Luke 6:27-33 reinforces the idea of showing love and goodwill towards those who may persecute or mistreat us. The passage specifically mentions acts like turning the other cheek when slapped, giving to those in need, and avoiding retaliation against wrongs committed against oneself.
  3. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 encourages followers of Christ to pray for all people, including kings, leaders, and enemies alike, promoting peace and harmony in the world through prayer. This teaching emphasizes that even our adversaries can be saved and come to a knowledge of truth if we pray for them.
  4. Romans 12:14-18 highlights the importance of showing love towards others by blessing those who persecute us, rejoicing with those who are happy, and mourning with those who are sad. This passage also encourages followers to live in harmony with one another, be humble, avoid retaliation, and strive for peace whenever possible.
Societal Relevance
In the modern world, we can apply these teachings by reflecting on our own actions towards others and seeking ways to show love, kindness, and compassion even when faced with difficult circumstances or negative interactions. This may involve praying for those who have hurt us or cause pain in some way, forgiving them, extending grace, offering empathy, or simply choosing not to retaliate against wrongs committed against us.

It's essential to remember that prayer is a powerful tool for changing our own hearts and minds as well as the hearts of those we pray for. By focusing on these teachings and actively seeking ways to love our enemies, we can grow closer to God and become better representatives of His love in the world around us.

These verses are especially relevant to myself and others in the 21st century. Given the current political situation in 2024, and having to choose between two choices that do not line up with my moderate beliefs, I can be quick to judge both sides. However, we must pray for both Kamala Harris and Trump, regardless of whether we like them. There was one figure from the Netherlands who lived though the worst moments during WWII in the 1940s.

In 1947, Corrie Ten Boom encountered a former Nazi guard at a church in Munich, Germany during her talk about God’s forgiveness. The former guard from Ravensbrück (which his name is unspecified) approached Corrie afterwards, asking for her forgiveness. Initially having reluctance due to the atrocities committed by the Nazis to Corrie’s sister and the millions of Jews, Corrie decided to forgive the man, and suddenly she felt a great “healing warmth” flood over her. This act of forgiving one’s worst enemies made me tear up when I watched a documentary named Corrie Ten Boom: A Faith Undefeated (2013) in 2022. While most of us may never have the grace that Jesus or Corrie Ten Boom has, we can strive to pray for and forgive others just as Jesus prayed and showed mercy to His enemies, the Roman soldiers who crucified Him (Luke 23:34, Isaiah 53:12).

Lately, when hearing news about bad events in the world, I pray both for the victims, and for the repentance of the perpetrators. These prayers have helped me feel less bad about the world. In fact, it is the people that hurt the most inside or have been abused that may hurt others, so we must pray for our enemies equally so, cos our enemies may have been scarred by a major event during their younger years.

Human Babies: The Best evidence against evolution

Every wonder why human babies take so long to develop critical life abilities like, running, walking, climbing and jumping?
All other animals mature much faster, as is necessary to survive in the wild. Deer walk almost immediately, Birds fly quickly. But humans? Helpless for YEARS.

Scientists have tried to come up with outlandish tales to explain this obvious problem with evolution, but each answer they give is patently absurd.
Just remind your evolutionary friend of this fact the next time you talk.

Kamala Harris is an "anchor baby?" That's what NFRA says!

I have no words to describe what I think about their challenge.

The National Federation of Republican Assemblies says that “The Constitutional qualifications of Presidential eligibility” states that “No person except a natural born Citizen, shall be eligible, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

The document and the citing of the Dred Scott decision were initially noted by lawyer Andrew Fleischman on X, formerly Twitter.

The group goes on to argue in the document that a natural-born citizen has to be born in the US to parents who are citizens when the child is born, pointing to the thinking of Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.

My story a work in progress

So I'm 49 years old. And let's just say I have a lot of mental health issues. I have hard time controlling my emotions. I feel constant stress and anxiety and fear and lonelyness, constant state of doom, depression, sadness. A sense of wanting to die....in short I'm a mess.

My position on Jesus started to soften after watching Choosen but even then I still wasn't ready. Then recently I hit rock bottom.

A women who was married that I've had a relationship with for 10 years or so ( yes I know it's wrong and I'm far from proud of it.). Well she and I got in to a fight and we haven't talked sense.

After our fight I feel in to a state of depression that lasted for 4 days. I couldn't get out bed. It aggravated and made thing worse for me. I just hit Rock bottom. I turned to God. Asked for forgiveness.

My intent was to get therapy and medicine to help me control my emotions better and get God to help fix me spiritual. But I found out I can't afford the therapy and psychiatrist. So now God is my only hope and find some measure of peace.

I won't lie I'm struggling. Some of you may understand how mental health issues is not so easy to over come and it does not help with hibitual sin. I feel like I'm fighting a battle for my soul. There times when my mental health just hits me and I fall apart and just cry because I want all the crap in my head to be silent.

Imagine feeling alone all the time. Imagine you feel like your life is about to fall apart a sense of dread and doom. Some times is loud and clear other times it's a buzz but it's always their. Imagine being constantly afraid of various things. Or have constant self doubt. Imagine feeling anxiety and stress. Imagine that constantly some times it's loud and clear and other times it's a dull buzz but it's there. Imagine you have no control over it. If you can even remotely imagine how that would feel and how that would impact your life and your ability to exist in this world and have friends and relationships then you can kind of understand me.

I have come to learn that God loves me. That I need to develope a relationship with him. And instead of relying on myself to rely on him. To learn to let him dictate my actions and not my emotions. That is not easy when your like me.

For me this is a war for my soul and all I can do is fight as hard as I can and not give up even if I stumble and fall. But I'm not alone on this.

Right now I'm so utterly alone in this world but I think this is were God wants me. He wants me alone so he can rebuild me. To learn how to follow Jesus and put my faith on him. While I say I'm alone I know I'm not cause he with me. I am nothing with out him.

I just want to make him proud of me. I don't want him to make me rich or solve my human problems. I want a relationship with him. I want him to show me how to follow Jesus. One thing I've recently come to understand is some people treat God like he some sort of Genie. He not; he our father. Like any parent we should not seek a relationship with him so he can do things for us but because we actually want one. Part of having that relationship is following his rules and obey him.

I wish I could say that Jesus appeared to me and I had some instinstant conversion but I didn't. Maybe he will appear to me but it will he by his choice not by mine. For me this is gone he a fight a war a struggle. I'm gone fail again and again but I'm gone keep trying till I get right finally or I die.

Any way that is my story in a nut shell. If you still reading this I thank you for listening.

Prayers for this Pastor's Repentance from worldly practices

Hello folks. Let us pray for this pastor of an unspecified church to repent of his sinful ways. Remember guys, Jesus did not eat with sinners and tax collectors because He wanted to appear tolerant of sins...He ate with them to call them all to repentance. Now, if someone wants to be a gay atheist, go right ahead (as long as that person does not force his/her private life onto society). Just do not bring this into the church, or have leadership that could mislead people into sin. Pray that this man repents, and leads people closer to God, instead of the world.

2 Timothy 4:3 (ESV): "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions"

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NIV): "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathens, who do not know God."

Rep. Tim Walberg: Biden-Harris ‘Blew It Up’ the Trump Plan for Withdrawal from Afghanistan

As the Taliban paraded captured U.S. military equipment through the streets of its capital city on the third anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, a congressman had a horrifying revelation. “I saw some of the vehicles that were built in my district being paraded across that field today,” Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) told “Washington Watch” last Thursday.

Although most Americans supported the cessation of the 20-year war in Afghanistan, the Biden-Harris administration’s execution resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers during a suicide bombing at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul and left an unknown number of American civilians stranded behind enemy lines.

The Biden-Harris administration responded by saying it had executed a plan originally negotiated by President Donald Trump — but that’s a half-truth, Walberg, a former pastor, told his former congressional colleague Jody Hice, who guest hosted the program. “President Trump had planned for it, had negotiated the means by which the Taliban would respect our withdrawal,” including a provision “that we would keep forces there, that we would hold the airfield and that we would have eyes on the ground still in that region.”

“That all changed with the election of the present president, who immediately after being sworn into office, showed a weakness and it blew up full tilt during the Afghan withdrawal,” Walberg explained.

I'm not even sure what this is but it's really weird.

Lately when I try to fall asleep, sometimes I feel the sensation of someone touching my forehead. There's nothing there when I open my eyes, and of course if I rub my forehead the sensation disappears. But also.. if I turn over to my other side, the sensation disappears but might start again shortly after, and oddly enough I experimented last night, I waved my hand in front of my forehead like 6 inches in front of my head and that also "interrupted" the sensation of being touched, like I swatted away an invisible thing that was touching my head, and it didn't come back for minutes, so it's not like an air current or anything like that. Simply waking up but remaining still I still feel the sensation, of something pressing so it's not like a hypnogogic dream where when you wake up all the dream sensations cease.

It's the weirdest thing and I have no explanation, and I don't know if it's connected but I've been having a lot of nightmares recently as well, and just trouble sleeping in general.

I can't tell if it's related to MS and just nerve damage (but why does waving my hand inches in front of my face 'interrupt" it? why does turning over "interrupt" it? I do have odd sensations of being touched on my back but changing position or moving my hand in the air around my back doesn't stop it not even touching the area on my back stops it, that one is for sure just.. part of the nerve damage from MS), spiritual attack or just.. all in my head.
