  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why Threaten Greenland And Insult One Of Our Best Allies?

Welcome to the 21st Century version of the Monroe Doctrine. Of course, we should be responsible for reducing China's influence in Greenland, the Arctic, and yes, aslo in Panama. And, of course, we care much less about Europe than we used to. An 80-year relationship will definitely change.
======================================
Yes, Greenland needs to have better military defense and should have its minerals developed. Yes, Denmark could have done more, but it the US that has withdrawn its bases and greatly reduced its presence since WWII.

1) By treaty, we can build as many bases as we want in Greenland. We used to have 16. We have reduced our footprint to one base of a few hundred airmen in one-year rotations.

2) Few would object if we were to start mining operations, either near bases or not and paid well for workers who wanted to work for us. We may or may not need an agreement with the government, under pressure if necessary. The local economies throughout the country would flourish. There is no reason to do any of this near their capital where 20,000 of their 35,000 citizens live.

3) It would be good form (so non-Trump) to allow the government (basically in the capital to continue to be autonomous.

4) Yes, we should actively use the new bases to protect the Arctic and Greenland against Chinese actions, as well as to protect mining operations.

5) Finally, the Danes have sent military help whenever we asked: in Iraq, In Afghanistan, Libya and would have come to Syria. MORE Danes per capita participated and were injured than soldiers from any other European county. As when we called Canada a poor ally, Trump's and Vance's statements have been insulting. NATO has responded to only ONE attack on its members since its founding. It members came to the aid of the US after 911.

Trump announces plan to chop down magnolia tree purportedly planted by Andrew Jackson: 'Must come to an end'

According to folklore, two trees were planted by Andrew Jackson to honor his late wife Rachel

President Donald Trump announced plans to chop down a tree that was said to have been planted by former President Andrew Jackson.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump said that he was working with "the wonderful people at the National Park Service" to make "tremendous enhancements to the White House, thereby preserving and protecting History!"

"One of the interesting dilemmas is a tree planted many years ago by the Legendary President and General, Andrew Jackson," Trump described. "It is a Southern Magnolia, that came from his home, The Hermitage, in Tennessee. That’s the good news!"

"The bad news is that everything must come to an end, and this tree is in terrible condition, a very dangerous safety hazard, at the White House Entrance, no less, and must now be removed," he continued.

It Was God's Will to Crush Him

“But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
As a result of the anguish of His soul,
He will see it and be satisfied;
By His knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant, will justify the many,
As He will bear their iniquities.
Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53:10-12 NASB’95)

This is a prophecy by the prophet Isaiah, of the Old Testament, regarding the coming of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world. Jesus always existed with God, and he was/is God, the second person of our triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He was with God in the beginning and he is our creator God, the one who made us. And he left heaven, came to this earth, was born as a baby to a human mother, and while on the earth he was fully human and yet fully God (God incarnate), but he was not born into sin as we are.

During his years of ministry on the earth he healed the sick and afflicted, raised the dead, delivered people from demons, fed the hungry, and performed all sorts of miracles before the eyes of the people. And the multitudes followed him, for a while, because of the miracles he performed, and because he was healing their diseases, and because he fed them. But the rulers in the temple hated him because he claimed to be God, he healed people on the Sabbath, and because of his popularity among the people.

But they hated him also because of the things that he taught, and because of the things that he said about them in pointing out their hypocrisies, and because he confronted them in their sins. They assumed because they were in the physical family line of Abraham that they were God’s children, in right relationship with God. But he let them know that, because they wanted to kill Jesus, that God was not their Father, and Abraham was not their father, but the devil was their father, and they were doing the deeds of the devil.

For Jesus Christ did not teach the diluted and altered gospel message which is so popularized in America today. He taught that we must die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands, in holy living, and not in deliberate and habitual sin, if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God. And this is not “works salvation.” This is living out the salvation already provided for us via Jesus’ death on a cross, in the power of God, by the Spirit, by God-persuaded faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

But probably most of the Jews in the vicinity of where Jesus lived called for Jesus to be crucified on a cross, although he had done no wrong, but because they did not like it that he claimed to be God, and that he taught with the authority of God, and because he healed people on the Sabbath, and he did not conform to their traditions, and he confronted them with their sins, and he called them to repentance and to obedience to God, as living sacrifices to God, holy and acceptable and pleasing to God.

So, they arranged for him to be put to death on a cross because they wanted to put an end to him and to his teachings, and to his followers, too. For they assumed that by killing Jesus that it would be the end of him and of his teachings, and of his followers, too, I believe. But they thought wrong. For God the Father resurrected Jesus from the dead on the third day. Jesus appeared to his disciples, and to many other people, before returning to heaven. And later he sent his Holy Spirit to indwell his followers.

Was it evil what they did to Jesus? Yes! Was it wrong? Yes! But it was necessary that Jesus Christ should give his life up for us on that cross so that we can now, by faith in him, be crucified with him in death to sin, and raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, in walks of obedience to our Lord and to his commands. By faith in Jesus Christ we can now be free from the control of sin and follow Jesus according to his ways.

Therefore, it was the will of God that Jesus should be persecuted and crushed and put to death on that cross. For when he died on that cross he put our sins to death with him so that, by God-persuaded faith in him we might now die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands in holy living. He died so that we would no longer live for self-pleasure, but for the will of God for our lives, in doing all that he commands that we do, and in going wherever he sends us, and in speaking his words of wisdom to the people.

For only by the grace of God in sending Jesus to that cross to die for our sins can any of us be saved from our slavery to sin and be assured heaven as our eternal destiny. But the grace of God paved the way for us to be delivered from our addiction to sin and to empower us to now live holy lives, pleasing to God, in walks of obedience to his commands. But if we choose to refuse to bow the knee to God, and we do not repent of (turn from) our sins, but we continue in deliberate and habitual sin against God, and not in walks of obedience to his commands, we will not have eternal life with God.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

The Federalist Papers No. 78

The Judiciary Department
From McLEAN'S Edition, New York.
HAMILTON
To the People of the State of New York:

WE PROCEED now to an examination of the judiciary department of the proposed government.

In unfolding the defects of the existing Confederation, the utility and necessity of a federal judicature have been clearly pointed out. It is the less necessary to recapitulate the considerations there urged, as the propriety of the institution in the abstract is not disputed; the only questions which have been raised being relative to the manner of constituting it, and to its extent. To these points, therefore, our observations shall be confined.

The manner of constituting it seems to embrace these several objects: 1st. The mode of appointing the judges. 2d. The tenure by which they are to hold their places. 3d. The partition of the judiciary authority between different courts, and their relations to each other.

First. As to the mode of appointing the judges; this is the same with that of appointing the officers of the Union in general, and has been so fully discussed in the two last numbers, that nothing can be said here which would not be useless repetition.

Second. As to the tenure by which the judges are to hold their places; this chiefly concerns their duration in office; the provisions for their support; the precautions for their responsibility.

According to the plan of the convention, all judges who may be appointed by the United States are to hold their offices DURING GOOD BEHAVIOR; which is conformable to the most approved of the State constitutions and among the rest, to that of this State. Its propriety having been drawn into question by the adversaries of that plan, is no light symptom of the rage for objection, which disorders their imaginations and judgments. The standard of good behavior for the continuance in office of the judicial magistracy, is certainly one of the most valuable of the modern improvements in the practice of government. In a monarchy it is an excellent barrier to the despotism of the prince; in a republic it is a no less excellent barrier to the encroachments and oppressions of the representative body. And it is the best expedient which can be devised in any government, to secure a steady, upright, and impartial administration of the laws.

Whoever attentively considers the different departments of power must perceive, that, in a government in which they are separated from each other, the judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy or injure them. The Executive not only dispenses the honors, but holds the sword of the community. The legislature not only commands the purse, but prescribes the rules by which the duties and rights of every citizen are to be regulated. The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction either of the strength or of the wealth of the society; and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm even for the efficacy of its judgments.

This simple view of the matter suggests several important consequences. It proves incontestably, that the judiciary is beyond comparison the weakest of the three departments of power1; that it can never attack with success either of the other two; and that all possible care is requisite to enable it to defend itself against their attacks. It equally proves, that though individual oppression may now and then proceed from the courts of justice, the general liberty of the people can never be endangered from that quarter; I mean so long as the judiciary remains truly distinct from both the legislature and the Executive. For I agree, that "there is no liberty, if the power of judging be not separated from the legislative and executive powers.''2 And it proves, in the last place, that as liberty can have nothing to fear from the judiciary alone, but would have every thing to fear from its union with either of the other departments; that as all the effects of such a union must ensue from a dependence of the former on the latter, notwithstanding a nominal and apparent separation; that as, from the natural feebleness of the judiciary, it is in continual jeopardy of being overpowered, awed, or influenced by its co-ordinate branches; and that as nothing can contribute so much to its firmness and independence as permanency in office, this quality may therefore be justly regarded as an indispensable ingredient in its constitution, and, in a great measure, as the citadel of the public justice and the public security.

The complete independence of the courts of justice is peculiarly essential in a limited Constitution. By a limited Constitution, I understand one which contains certain specified exceptions to the legislative authority; such, for instance, as that it shall pass no bills of attainder, no ex-post-facto laws, and the like. Limitations of this kind can be preserved in practice no other way than through the medium of courts of justice, whose duty it must be to declare all acts contrary to the manifest tenor of the Constitution void. Without this, all the reservations of particular rights or privileges would amount to nothing.

Some perplexity respecting the rights of the courts to pronounce legislative acts void, because contrary to the Constitution, has arisen from an imagination that the doctrine would imply a superiority of the judiciary to the legislative power. It is urged that the authority which can declare the acts of another void, must necessarily be superior to the one whose acts may be declared void. As this doctrine is of great importance in all the American constitutions, a brief discussion of the ground on which it rests cannot be unacceptable.

Brother of Terri Schiavo says fight to protect life at all stages more urgent than ever

(OSV News) — Bobby Schindler still remembers his older sister’s love of animals.

“We had a Labrador growing up, a family pet that she just adored,” he told OSV News about his sister, Terri Schiavo, and their dog, Bucky. “He had … a brain tumor, and he fell over and collapsed … and Terri reached out and tried to give it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.”

“I don’t think she knew how to do it,” he added, but “she was trying to do everything she could to save her dog.”

Schindler spoke about Schiavo ahead of the 20th anniversary of her death — a death that followed a years-long legal battle that made international headlines and captured the attention of then-President George W. Bush, U.S. members of Congress and even the Vatican.
Schiavo, who had suffered a serious brain injury, died on March 31, 2005, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed at the decision of her husband, Michael, against the wishes of her parents and siblings. She was 41.
Her case led Schindler to dedicate his life to helping families in similar situations through the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, an organization dedicated to upholding human dignity by serving those who are medically vulnerable. The network, which provides a 24/7 crisis lifeline service for at-risk patients and families, has helped thousands since its founding in 2005.

Schindler, together with Dr. Tim Millea, chair of the Catholic Medical Association Health Care Policy Committee, spoke with OSV News about the challenges since Schiavo’s death to upholding the dignity of life for the medically vulnerable.
“We knew Terri had a severe brain injury, and we knew that she most likely was never going to improve to the point where she was going to be able to take care of herself,” said Schindler, a Paige Comstock Cunningham senior fellow at Americans United for Life and an associate scholar at Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. “That never mattered to our family: Terri was a human being. She had value and worth and … she only needed food and hydration to live.”

Australia is a Christian Nation

Australia is in the midst of a massive identity crisis. Let me explain.

We are a country founded on the Christian faith and on Western culture.

Our founding document leads with these words, ‘Humbly relying on the blessing of Almighty God.’

No one, unless you are a complete ignoramus or a member of the progressive Left, can deny that Australia is fundamentally a Christian nation.

But the Left has demonised Christianity and rejected our Western roots. So where does that leave us?

If we are not Christian… what are we?

And it’s at this point that the left shows us what nihilists they are.

They love to tear down everything that made Australia great, but they never provide an alternative.

Elderly woman boxed in and beaten because she drove a Tesla

'I'm just appalled. I didn't buy my car for a political statement. I bought my car because its really fun to drive,' Susan said.
'My politics have nothing to do with that. I'm ashamed of our society and what they are doing.'
It is the latest in a slew of incidents of Tesla drivers being targeted, threatened and attacked as backlash towards the company's billionaire owner, Elon Musk.

The leaders of the left refuse to tone down their violent rhetoric. I agree with her, I am also ashamed of our society.

If Women Can’t Speak, They Can’t Sing Either

I Corinthians 14:34, or 14:33-35, in context, is often taken to mean that women cannot preach because they must remain silent in church. I have argued in the past that this is a hasty conclusion, as can be seen by looking at the context. Here is something else. The Greek word translated as “speak” can also mean “sing.” The word covers all words that come out of the mouth.

The church I grew up in did not allow women pastors but women did make announcements and they did sing in the choir, in musical programs, and in the congregation. Women also taught Sunday School. In the church I attend today, it is much the same. The church would not accept a female pastor but women make announcements, and they sing on stage and in the congregation. They also read or recite scripture.

What does the Greek word used for “speak” mean, in the New Testament?

Word: laleo : to speak, to talk, to utter

Strong's 1696:
To speak, declare, converse, command, promise, warn, threaten, sing

Strong's Greek: 2980. λαλέω (laleó) -- To speak, to talk, to utter

For reference:

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the
congregations of the saints,
women should remain silent in the churches. They are not
allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.
If they want to enquire about something, they should ask
their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

Muslim woman kills Christian couple by poisoning food after taking her daughter to church

Woman confesses to accidentally killing her daughter who also ate food prepared for Christian neighbors during Ramadan

NAIROBI, Kenya — A Muslim woman in eastern Uganda killed a Christian couple and accidentally took her own daughter’s life in the process.

Doreen Nairuba, a Christian woman, died on March 16 from eating poisoned food prepared by her Muslim neighbor, Hanifa Hamiyat, in Nabiganda town, Butaleja District, an area neighbor said. Nairuba was also six months pregnant.

Hamiyat’s 18-year-old daughter, Marriam Kapisa, died the same day after unknowingly eating the food prepared by her mother for Nairuba and her husband, Jackson Wampula, who died from the poisoning the next day on March 17, residents said.

U.K. Seeks New Trade Deal With U.S. In Effort To Avoid Trump’s Tariffs

“We’re engaged in discussions with the United States about mitigating the impact of tariffs,” Starmer told reporters earlier this week. Finance Minister Rachel Reeves on Thursday said Britain would not seek to “escalate” trade wars, a contrast from Canada and European Nations, all of whom have vowed to “retaliate” even though they already have tariffs on American goods.https://trendingpoliticsnews.com/new-u-k-seeks-new-trade-deal-with-u-s-in-effort-to-avoid-trumps-tariffs-cmc/?utm_source=DS21

Most American Christians don't believe in the Trinity: Survey

An overwhelming majority of Christians reject the basic Christian teaching of the Trinity, prompting new concerns that Americans are living without the influence of “the truths and life principles of God.”

The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released the latest installment of its American Worldview Inventory series which documents Americans’ views on the Trinity. The research is based on responses collected from 2,100 adults in January.

Overall, just 40% of respondents believe that God exists and affects people’s lives. That figure rises to 53% among self-identified Christians, 60% among theologically-identified born-again Christians, and 100% among Integrated Disciples. The latter term refers to those who have a biblical worldview. While a majority of those surveyed (59%) believe in the existence of Jesus Christ, a significantly smaller share of adults (29%) believe in the Holy Spirit.

“Jesus, I Surrender My Life To You
Take Care of Everything”

After my heart surgery, they had to keep me loaded up on some strong drugs, for pain, of course. I have never liked drugs; in fact when I was very young in the Navy, I was surrounded by men who were highly addicted, but I wanted nothing to do with it. Not because I was better than them, but they had no attraction. Alcohol was not quite so strong an aversion. I liked getting slightly high while on dates because it made dancing more fun. However, at a certain point, I did not like it at all. It shut me down in a way that I do not quite understand. I got drunk three times in the Navy, and they were all bad experiences for me.

So my experience in the hospital with a boatload of strong painkillers was a real nightmare that lasted for a week and a half. One of the doctors told me that it was mostly because of my age, but then he said he never heard anything like it. Lucky me.

I remember closing my eyes, and suddenly, I was in a different world. I would open them, and I was back in my bed. The problem was it was a landscape from hell. There were great monsters that looked like demons, and they were fighting each other, destroying everything in sight……yes, a bad trip. I would open my eyes and again I was back.

After I returned home, I thought they would end, but every night there they were. For about a week I could not sleep, so it was me and me getting a tour of hell, perhaps my own inner hidden place of anger and pain.

So on the second night home, I was being led from one scene to another. Finally, I prayed, “Lord, please stop this, it is driving me crazy”. So I got an answer, “Mark, learn to endure. Not the answer I was looking for, but I took to heart.

St. Paul talks about patient endurance (fortitude), so I endured, prayed, and because I could not rest or sleep, tried not to go crazy. I did not lose my mind, well, I hope so.

I have learned that as I age, I simply have to allow the process to continue, while at the same time doing what I can to keep going and stay healthy. It is not an easy lesson, but I am slowly growing in my faith and trust in God’s care.

Why should it surprise me that old age is about letting go over time? We are pilgrims after all, on a journey that ends in our entering the eternal mystery we call death.

Death is not an exit, but an entry into a broader reality.- Br.MD

Brazen ‘migrant influencer’ who flashed cash, urged other illegals to squat in US homes deported to Venezuela — after causing uproar on flight

Moreno crossed the Texas border illegally in April 2022 and was quickly released into the US.
The Venezuelan border crosser, however, failed to appear for his required check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), leading the feds to arrest him in Gahanna, Ohio, in March 2024.
An immigration judge ordered Moreno’s deportation last October, but Venezuela refused to accept any deportation flights at the time.

He praised Biden for his freeloading.

White House ordered firing of L.A. federal prosecutor on ex-Fatburger CEO 'hiding income' case, sources say

Adam Schleifer was terminated Friday morning, receiving an email informing him that the dismissal was “on behalf of President Donald J. Trump,” according to two of the sources, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals from federal officials. Joseph T. McNally, the acting U.S. attorney for the Central District of California who is Schleifer’s boss, was not involved in the decision, the sources said.

Carley Palmer, a former federal prosecutor in Los Angeles who is now a partner at Halpern May Ybarra Gelberg LLP, said Schleifer was fired via a “one line e-mail, and it came from a White House staff account.”

The sources who spoke to The Times suspected the firing was motivated, in part, by a case Schleifer was assigned involving Andrew Wiederhorn, former chief executive of the company that owns fast-food chains Fatburger and Johnny Rockets.

Last May, a grand jury indicted Wiederhorn on charges that he hid taxable income from the federal government by dispersing “shareholder loans” from the company to himself and his family. Wiederhorn allegedly used the funds for personal benefits, according to the indictment, including payments for private jet travel, vacations, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, other luxury automobiles, jewelry and a piano. He has pleaded not guilty.

Wiederhorn’s lawyers have aggressively pushed Justice Department officials to drop the case, according to two sources familiar with those conversations who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals.

The recent federal case comes nearly two decades after Wiederhorn was first ensnared in financial crimes. In 2004, he pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Oregon to charges of paying an illegal gratuity to an associate and to filing a false tax return. He spent 15 months in federal prison in Sheridan, Ore., and paid a $2-million fine.

Though U.S. attorneys are political appointees who often ally with the agenda of the current presidential administration, line prosecutors like Schleifer are normally considered career employees. But since taking office, the Trump administration has made a point to drive those seen as political enemies from all levels of the federal government.

In several social media posts during his [own, failed] political campaign, Schleifer attacked the president’s tax policies and Trump’s behavior toward federal agencies

On Friday, Laura Loomer, a right-wing provocateur who has at times served as an advisor to Trump, shared one of Schleifer’s prior critical tweets on X and called for the prosecutor to be fired.

[And then he was that same day.]

Jasmine Crockett calls out black rep for being married to a white woman

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., Texas) once attacked Rep. Byron Donalds (R., Fla.) for having a white wife, saying Donalds "married a white woman and so you think that whitewashed you." It's unclear whether Crockett believes Kamala Harris is "whitewashed" for marrying a white man.

Movie clip discussion/argument. Your thoughts?

So, unsurprisingly, an intense argument broke out on Facebook in response to a movie clip. I don’t dare comment or ask a question, because I know I would get pounced on by both sides. But I do *have* a question.

The movie clip: I don’t know the name of the movie. It showed a little girl asking for more breakfast. They are obviously very poor and strapped for anything to eat. It looks like possibly the Great Depression. Mama is sorry, but they have to save some for the boys. That’s when Daddy walks in. He gently sits down next to the little girl and speaks softly as he claims he had a dream last night. He dreamed he ate all kinds of food, which he describes in detail. Then he concludes, “I am so stuffed now, I couldn’t eat another bite,” and over his wife’s objections he gives the little girl his breakfast. Which was meager to begin with.

The caption: “This is the masculinity they want gone.”

The argument: Mostly women saying, no it isn’t. Who thinks this is what we want gone? That strutting rooster Alpha attitude, where they swagger around disparaging “females,” belittle men who treat women with respect, play king of the mountain with each other, and all but beat on their chests like gorillas, that’s what we want gone. If the man had thundered into the room smacking the women around, speaking with a growl in his voice, claiming he has the right to eat first because he’s a man, THAT is toxic masculinity, and that is what we want gone.

The counter argument: The above described behavior is not masculinity. There is no such thing as toxic masculinity. Being a man and acting like one is not toxic. Feminism simply doesn’t like maleness in any form, labeling it all toxic because they want the world to consist entirely of women, and weak, subservient men who think and act like women.

My opinion: The counter argument is certainly a ridiculous exaggeration. That is in no way what feminism wants. Feminism is merely the radical (and apparently offensive) notion that women are human beings. As such, we should have our own agency (defined as freedom to make our own make our own life choices) and legal rights equal to those of men. Those rights include such things as voting, owning property, getting credit in our own names, working for a living in a career of our own choosing rather than revolving our lives around being unpaid servants to men, and getting the same pay as our male coworkers. Some men apparently feel highly threatened by this type of system.

My question: For the strutting Alpha behavior described above, which both sides seem to disapprive of, would “pseudomasculinity” be a better word?

Hypothetical question

Zech 14 talks about all nations coming against Jerusalem ransacking the houses and raping the women.
As of today,there are millions of Muslims in the countries surrounding Israel who would like nothing more than to kill every jew as they are instructed in the Hadith.

Given that the US is Israel's ally and the prophecy in zech 14 is inevitable,What do you believe the president would do with Muslims going throughout Israel killing all the Jews,as well as dancing over the corpses of the US ambassador,and all US servicemen in Israel and over the corpses of everyone in the Israeli government?

A-Does he attack all the Muslim nations that invaded Israel with conventional weapons in a looooong drawn out war?

B-Does he use nukes against all those nations and end it quickly?

C-Or does he convert to Islam as Muslims believe all nations will?

D-None of the above.

What is true saving grace?

1Ti 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,

The way we see God influences our own lives, but also the lives of others. Our church has a food ministry that services the community's needs. I met a man a few weeks ago at the food bank, and when I asked him if he would like to go to church, he responded that he could not respond to a God who controls every aspect of life. I told him that I do not believe that God is a dictator who controls every aspect of our lives. Yet, how fervently do people present the false doctrine that God has controlled life to such an extent that he even forces many into damnation, through no evil of their own, but by His sovereign will or choice to destroy them.

I would like to suggest that such a doctrine is offensive to the world, but not only that, it is not the nature of God.

Reasons

The Early Church did not believe it. They believed that man was responsible for their own life, that they would be judged based upon how they individually responded to the ever-extended mercy of God.

Ignatius [A.D. 30-107] states “ I do not mean to say that there are two different human natures” and “ he is a man of the devil, made such, not by nature, but by his own choice”.

Irenaeus [A.D. 120-202] states: 1. This expression [of our Lord], “How often would I have gathered thy children together, and thou wouldest not,” (Mat 23:37) set forth the ancient law of human liberty, because God made man a free [agent] from the beginning, possessing his own power, even as he does his own soul, to obey the behests (ad utendum sententia) of God voluntarily, and not by compulsion of God. For there is no coercion with God, but a good will [towards us] is present with Him continually. And therefore does He give good counsel to all. And in man, as well as in angels, He has placed the power of choice (for angels are rational beings), so that those who had yielded obedience might justly possess what is good, given indeed by God, but preserved by themselves. On the other hand, they who have not obeyed shall, with justice, be not found in possession of the good, and shall receive condign punishment: for God did kindly bestow on them what was good; but they themselves did not diligently keep it, nor deem it something precious, but poured contempt upon His super-eminent goodness…... but for the despisers and mockers who avoid and turn themselves away from this light, and who do, as it were, blind themselves, He has prepared darkness suitable to persons who oppose the light, and He has inflicted an appropriate punishment upon those who try to avoid being subject to Him. Submission to God is eternal rest, so that they who shun the light have a place worthy of their flight; and those who fly from eternal rest, have a habitation in accordance with their fleeing. Now, since all good things are with God, they who by their own determination fly from God, do defraud themselves of all good things; and having been [thus] defrauded of all good things with respect to God, they shall consequently fall under the just judgment of God.

Justin Martyr [A.D. 110-165] wrote: they who choose the good have worthy rewards, and they who choose the opposite have their merited awards. For not like other things, as trees and quadrupeds, which cannot act by choice, did God make man: for neither would he be worthy of reward or praise did he not of himself choose the good, but were created for this end; nor, if he were evil, would he be worthy of punishment, not being evil of himself, but being able to be nothing else than what he was made... Furthermore, I have proved in what has preceded, that those who were foreknown to be unrighteous, whether men or angels, are not made wicked by God’s fault, but each man by his own fault is what he will appear to be...

But it is not just the Early Church that believed that God gives every person a chance of salvation, the bible makes it clear it is our choice, not God’s sovereign will that determines salvation or damnation. He opens our ears to instruction and commands that we turn from sin; the choice is then in our court. There is a choice we make.

Job 36:10-12 He also opens their ear to instruction, And commands that they turn from iniquity. If they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures. But if they do not obey, They shall perish by the sword, And they shall die without knowledge.

The bible makes it clear that the Father’s love, or saving grace, comes to those willing to obey God when they hear of His grace.

Joh 14:22-24 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.
We should be careful what we swallow.

Our Sorrows He Carried

“Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.” (Isaiah 53:4-7 NASB’95)

When Jesus Christ gave himself up for us on that cross, and he put our sins to death with him, so that by faith in him we might die with him to sin and now live to him and to his righteousness, in walks of obedience to his commands, it was not just our sins that he bore. He took upon himself our griefs, our sorrows. And that brings comfort to my heart knowing that he cares about what we are going through. He knows our pain for he suffered for us. He can empathize with us, because he went through it, too.

But Jesus didn’t die that horrible death on that cross just to forgive us our sins and to promise us eternal life with God when we die. He died so that we would die with him to sin and so that we would walk with him (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to his commands. He died and rose from the dead so that by faith in him we can now live free from the control of sin and Satan, and that we can live holy lives, pleasing to God, in the power of God, by the grace of God, and so that we can serve him with our lives.

But this isn’t just about freedom from slavery to sin and walks of obedience to his commands. This is about a love relationship between us and God. For faith in Jesus Christ is a covenant of marriage to Christ, not in a physical sense, but in a spiritual sense. We are to see our relationship with him as we would a covenant of marriage to our spouses, if we are people who literally take those covenants of marriage and fidelity and devotion to our spouses seriously, to forsake all others and to cleave only to our spouses.

We are to think of him as a marital partner, and our intimacy of relationship with him in a spiritual, and not in a physical sense. We should want to be close to him, and to spend time with him, and to share with him in what he desires for our lives, and to do the things that he wants us to do because we love him, and we want to please him, and we want to be near him. We should consider that he is right beside us at all times, and that he is fully aware of everything that is going on in our lives. And he feels our pain.

Believing in Jesus, and in what he did for us on that cross, should not be just so that we can escape hell and go to heaven when we die. Our faith in him should be about developing a love relationship with him. And we should want to go with him wherever he calls us, and wherever he leads us in doing what he planned for our lives even before he laid the foundations of the earth. Our lives should be about him and his purpose for our lives and no longer about self, living to do just what pleases us. And this is all the time, every day.

And worship of Jesus is not just about singing “worship songs” in a “worship service” and moving our hands and bodies back and forth to the music. All the time I am seeing images of people doing this and it is always called “worship of God/Jesus.” But true worship of God/Jesus is us denying self, dying with him to sin, and walking in obedience to his commands, in conduct, in practice, daily, and following him in doing whatever he has called us to do according to his will and purpose for our lives, by his Spirit.

Now all of us were born into this world with sin natures, in the image of Adam, the first man to sin against God, and the first he created. In our unregenerated state of mind we were separate from God, unable within ourselves to meet with God’s divine approval. For not one of us can be saved and on our way to heaven via our own works. It is only by the grace of God, through divinely persuaded faith in the Lord Jesus, that any of us can be saved from our sins and on our way to heaven (Ephesians 2:8-10).

But God’s grace sent Jesus to that cross to put our sins to death with him so that, by faith in him, we will die with him to sin and now live to him and to his righteousness in walks of obedience to his commands. And God’s grace, which is bringing us salvation, is training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we wait for our Lord’s soon return. For Jesus “gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds” (see Titus 2:11-14).

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

Our Sorrows He Carried

Who Has Believed Our Message?

“Who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
And like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty
That we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
And like one from whom men hide their face
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.” (Isaiah 53:1-3 NASB’95)

Isaiah was a prophet of old who foretold the coming of Jesus, our Lord and Messiah (the Christ). The more that I read this entire book of the Bible, the more I began to realize how much of this book is dedicated to prophesying Jesus Christ and the Messianic age. So, the subject matter of Isaiah 53 is Jesus Christ, of his life, his death, and of his sacrifice on the cross for the sins of the world. And I think, in the book’s wording, as a whole, we can picture that Jesus did not stay dead, but that he came back to life.

So, who was and is Jesus Christ? He is the second person of our triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He always existed with God, he is God, and he is our creator God – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But from the very beginning God had a plan that a woman named Mary would bear a son, Jesus, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and not of man, who while he lived on the earth would be both fully God and fully man, but without a sin nature, for he was not conceived of man, but of God, of the Holy Spirit.

Now when Jesus Christ lived on the earth, during his years of ministry, he healed the sick and afflicted, he raised the dead back to life, he delivered people from demons, and he performed miracle after miracle, even feeding thousands of people with just a little bit of bread and a few fish. And he preached repentance and obedience to God for the salvation of sin and for eternal life with God. And all this got him hated by many of the Jewish rulers in the temple, who then plotted and carried out his death on a cross.

But while he was still alive, many who had been following him deserted him, for they said that his teaching was “too hard.” For he taught that coming to him meant death to sin, suffering for the sake of righteousness, and for the sake of the gospel, and walks of faithful obedience to our Lord and to his commands. He let them know that a profession of faith in him alone would not secure them salvation from sin, and that if they did not obey him, he would say that he never knew them and they were to depart from him.

And he confronted the hypocrites in their hypocrisies, many of whom were men of power and influence in the temple who had positions of authority over the people, but who put on a show of righteousness while inside they were full of wickedness and evil deeds. And he told the Jews who wanted him dead, and who would not receive him as their Lord, that God the Father was not their Father, and that Abraham was not their father, but that their father was the devil, and that they did the works of the devil.

For all who do not believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord of their lives, who do not bow to him in submission to his will, who are unwilling to die with him to sin and to now walk in obedience to his commands, they do not know God, because Jesus is God, and because God demands death to sin and walks of obedience to his commands as evidence that genuine faith in him exists. So all who deny that Jesus is the Christ, and who refuse to bow to him as Lord, and to forsake their sins, and to obey his commands, are not of God.

So, Jesus’ teachings did not sit too well with the majority of the people. And the rulers were also threatened by his temporary popularity among the people, because of all the miracles he was performing, concerned that their own positions of power over the people could be at risk. They also hated that he healed people on the Sabbath, and that he didn’t follow all their customs, and that he claimed to be God, which is who he was and is. And so the majority called for his death on a cross, and they had him put to death.

I think they then thought that would be the end of it, that his followers would scatter, and that the message of the gospel of our salvation would die out and would no longer be a matter of concern to them. But it didn’t go down like they had hoped. On the third day God the Father resurrected his Son Jesus Christ from the dead, and brought him back to life. He appeared then to many people, including his remaining disciples, and then he returned to be with the Father in heaven, from where he sent us the Holy Spirit.

And those who were his followers continued in his ministry and in teaching the people that faith in Jesus Christ must result in us dying with Christ to sin and in walks of obedience to his commands, or it is not genuine faith which saves, but it is of the flesh, instead. But this message has been altered quite a bit by the majority over the years to where so many are teaching salvation as the result of a profession of faith in Jesus, but absent of dying with Christ to sin and walking in obedience to his commands. This cannot be!

So, please know that Jesus died on that cross to put our sins to death with him so that, by God-gifted and God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, which is of the Spirit, and not of the flesh, we will now die with him to sin, putting sin to death daily, by the Spirit, and so that we will walk (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to the Lord and to his commands. He died so that we would now live for him and no longer for ourselves, and to deliver us out of slavery to sin so that we will now become servants of God and of his righteousness.

Lead Me Gently Home, Father

By Will L. Thompson, 1879

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
When life’s toils are ended,
And parting days have come,
Sin no more shall tempt me,
Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam,
If Thou’ll only lead me, Father,
Lead me gently home.

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
In life’s darkest hours, Father,
When life’s troubles come,
Keep my feet from wand’ring,
Lest from Thee I roam,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.

Abundance for Barbara

Shalom, dear brothers and sisters,
May the Lord bless you abundantly (Luke 6:38, Job 42:10) and bless Israel in Jesus' name. Amen!
I ask for prayers for our precious sister Barbara, a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus:
She is currently experiencing financial difficulties (debt, lack of work) and is often lonely.
She is currently in the process of quitting smoking and needs much strength and wisdom in this regard as well. (John 8:36)
God's Word says:
"My love, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers" (3 John 2).
And the Lord Jesus rejoices when she is truly well again (Psalm 35:27).
Thank you for your prayers!!!
Sole Deo Gloria
PS: And I pray that the Lord will send out harvesters into His harvest (Matthew 9:38).

Trump draws laughs when defining a 'woman' — until he touches on a serious issue

'A woman is a person who is much smarter than a man, I’ve always found'

President Donald Trump drew laughs from the press when one reporter asked him to define what a woman is. Trump was speaking at a news conference after Alina Habba, a longtime member of his team, was sworn-in as the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey.

The reporter who asked the question first said that Trump had done "so much for women" before listing women who have powerful roles in the Trump administration, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Attorney General Pam Bondi. He then asked, "Since Democrats seemed to struggle answering this question, I want to ask you, what is a woman and why is it important that we understand the difference between men and women?"

The room quickly erupted in laughter as Trump said that the question was "easy" to answer.

"A woman is somebody, they can have a baby under certain circumstances. She has equality. A woman is a person who is much smarter than a man, I’ve always found. A woman is a person that doesn't give a man even a chance of success," Trump said.
