  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Putting an End to the Liturgy Wars

This was written this week by Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco.

Putting an End to the Liturgy Wars

The memories are still vivid, even though it was a long time ago. Having been born in 1956, I’m just old enough to remember the confusing and tumultuous era of “the changes” that came after the Second Vatican Council, particularly regarding the Mass. One elderly couple in my neighborhood mused aloud to my teenaged self that it was like the father not being home and the children playing however they liked.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the full gamut of Church teaching, from morality to the exercise of authority to dogmatic truths of the faith, were doubted and even outright denied—and religious vocations plummeted. The old maxim lex orandi, lex credendi (to which some have added lex vivendi) proves itself true all the time. The era of the “liturgy wars” was not about rearranging ornamentation; at a time of confusion and dissent in all areas of Church life, it was foundational to all that happened.

We seemed at one point in the recent past to have come to a peaceful coexistence with what Pope Benedict referred to as the two forms of the Roman Rite, after he issued his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum. However, after Traditionis Custodes and then the even more severe restrictions from the Dicastery for Divine Worship on the celebration of the Roman Rite according to the 1962 Missal, the liturgy wars have been revived. While liturgy was not a focus of the cardinals in the conclave that elected Pope Francis after the resignation of Pope Benedict, it will undoubtedly be a central focus in this upcoming one.

With all of the issues facing the Church at this time, none is more important than how we worship. God created us for worshipping him. Divine worship, if it is truly to deserve the name “divine,” relies on a sense of the sacred, which in turn springs from the sacramental vision of reality: Physical reality mediates and makes present the spiritual, transcendent reality lying beyond it. If we lose this, we lose everything.

And there have been losses. There can be no argument that the very visible loss of the sense of the sacred in the way we worship is a fundamental cause (even if not the only one) of the massive disaffiliation of young people from the Church. According to a 2015 Pew Research study, 40 percent of adults who say they were raised Catholic have left the Church. And it is not getting better. A 2023 survey of 5600 people found that “Catholics have experienced the largest decline in affiliation of any religious group.”

Clearly not enough young people are meeting Jesus in the Eucharist; otherwise, they would not be abandoning him for other religious experiences or losing faith in God altogether. And just as clearly, the hunger for tradition among the next generation of Catholics who do remain is palpable.

As Francis X. Rocca wrote on April 9 in The Atlantic:

In 2023, Cranney and Stephen Bullivant, a sociologist of religion, surveyed Catholics and found that half expressed interest in attending a Latin Mass. . . . Perhaps counterintuitively, this return to tradition seems to be led by young Catholics, who make up a disproportionate share of Latin Mass devotees. According to a recent survey . . . 44 percent of Catholics who attended the old rite at least once a month were under the age of 45, compared with only 20 percent of other members of those parishes.

This rings true to me. Most of the devout young Catholics I meet grow up with the typical parish fare on Sundays, only later discovering the beauty of our authentic Catholic liturgical patrimony. Their reaction? Wonder, mixed with anger. They tell me—and this is a literal, word-for-word quote—“I’ve been deprived of my Catholic birthright.”

Blue city mayor says ICE arrests of dangerous criminals are not ‘focused on making us safer’

"DHS said the Nashville operation resulted in the arrests of a convicted child sex predator, an alleged member of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, an individual convicted of aggravated assault and multiple illegal aliens on drug charges."

To me, getting the criminals mentioned in the above quotation off of the streets makes people safer.

School board member, former TV reporter blasts plan to start meetings with prayer: 'How much God do you need?'

'If you want to pray with them, take them to church,' board member tells Christian colleague

An exchange between school board officials in North Carolina has gone viral after one of the members was met with ridicule after requesting to start the meeting with prayer.

At an April 14 Cabarrus County School Board meeting, board member Melanie Freeman introduced a motion to “include an invocation” to the board’s meeting going forward.

Freeman’s motion was met with indignation from former TV reporter and board member Pam Escobar, who said she is a Christian but questioned the necessity of prayer in a professional setting. "If you put prayer at the beginning of this meeting, I don’t think that’s a welcoming sign to the people who are in this room tonight," she said.

What Book?

The "I" in the following passage is the writer of Hebrews which is believed to be Paul. He was quoting David in Psalm 40. There David was speaking of himself, but was also prophesying of Jesus. With that understood the "I" in the following passage is you and I also. If they said it, so should we. So that means, as Christians we come in the volume of the Book that is written of us to do thy will oh GOD.

So what Book is written of us?

Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Ps 40:6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
Ps 40:7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book [it is] written of me,
Ps 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law [is] within my heart.

Partial Preterism vs Full Preterism

How can people believe that the book of Revelation has already happened ?

We've not seen the sun go dark & the moon turning to blood red & all the stars have not fallen to earth yet.
We have not seen the sky scroll back revealing Jesus as every eye shall see him.

So I don't understand a full preterist ???

Am I missing something here ?

Sheik Muhammad

Shalom

Can you please pray for one maybe THE richest man on earth, Sheik Muhammad bin Zayid Al Nahyan for salvation and that the Lord make him to a fisher of man and help him to collect his treasure in heaven and not on earth in Jesus name?

Thank you and God bless you because of Lk 6:38 and Job 42:10 in Jesus name Amen.

Miracle Provision of a house!

Hey something that just happened- I was calculating my finances and this came to me, God gave me wisdom in a big way! I have a plan that I think is from God that will get me $100,000 in 1 year, once I have this there are a number of mobile homes in the area for sale for only about $20,000 and they are fairly nice! I may just ditch paying rent for an apartment and just buy a house, then I could save my income rather than using it for rent! After I bought the house I would still have 80 thou in the bank! I was trapped in my current situation with living in Essex House apartments in middletown, PA,, my parents forced me to move in and would not let me leave, but now I have a way out, God just opened the door for me to get out of this! If I have that kind of money my parents won't care, they will let me leave! There are lots of nice places I could move in to, I prefer being out in the country where it is nice and peaceful, I could get a mobile home up on Fishing Creek Valley road north of Harrisburg or on Clarks Valley Road up near Dauphin, they are both a remote area back in the woods but still only like a 15 minute drive from Harrisburg! I also like Halifax, I could move up there!

Arrests made at Columbia anti-Israel protest, agitators take over university library

"Multiple people were taken into custody by the New York Police Department at Columbia University after a pro-Palestinian protest in an area of the main library on campus Wednesday.
University officials asked the NYPD for help Wednesday night securing Butler Library “due to the number of individuals participating in the disruption inside and outside of the building, a large group of people attempting to force their way into Butler Library creating a safety hazard, and what we believe to be the significant presence of individuals not affiliated with the University,” acting university President Claire Shipman said in a statement."

We need to quickly deport more, I hope Congress acts to stop radical judges from usurping presidential power.

The New Pope Must Purge the Church of the Lavender Mafia

While a bishop living a life of grave sin could still be a good administrator or social worker, he will seldom be what matters most - a defender of the faith and morals necessary to our salvation.

Many who have written on the needed characteristics of the next pope have said such things as “The next pope needs to call the bishops to proclaim the faith boldly; to restore respect for the sacraments; to unify the polarized elements of the Church.” Few pundits note that purging the Church of the Lavender Mafia, of the homosexual priests and bishops who run the Church, is arguably the most important and the most difficult of all tasks a new pope will face.

Pope Benedict failed to do the cleanup because he was old, frail, and sick—but even more so because the resistance to his efforts was so strong. Pope Francis, through appointments and his protection of bishops accused of sexual abuse and cover-up of abuse, has only strengthened the Lavendar Mafia. See the recent article by Damian Thompson on Francis’ favorable treatment of predators.

Undoubtedly, many Catholics are still oblivious to the dominance of the Lavender Mafia in the Church. The sex abuse crisis has opened the eyes of many, since bishops have been so lax in dealing with sexual abuse. Their weak response shows us that they are not healthy heterosexuals; for if they were, they would be enraged about the abuse in the Church and society and would not have let hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied immigrant children to have “gone missing.”

He didn’t come to improve us. He came to re-create us and re-define reality. He didn’t come to tweak our game plan. He came so that we could die to everything we were, so that we could be like Him.

“For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will save it.” (Luke 9:24)

“But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him…” (1 John 3:2)

No One Like the Lord

I don't know why the YouTube algorithm brought this song up, but it did, and it has become one of my favorites since then. Totally Christ exulting, and it has both contemporary worship music elements as well as Gospel music elements. I love worshiping to this song.

'Generational win': Alabama's ban on sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers for kids defeats ACLU lawsuit

Litigation over an Alabama law prohibiting minors from obtaining life-altering sex-change surgeries and hormone drugs has come to an end in what one top elected official in the state is describing as a "generational win."

In a joint stipulation of dismissal filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama's Northern Division on Thursday, the plaintiffs in a case challenging Alabama's ban on gender transition surgeries for minors agreed to dismiss their lawsuit "without costs or fees to any party."

The office of Alabama's Republican Attorney General Steve Marshall elaborated on the implications of this development and the history of the litigation surrounding the law in a statement published Thursday.

$TRUMP Token "Investors" Mostly Foreign: Bloomberg

More than half of the top holders of President Donald Trump's memecoin - who are jockeying for dinner with the president - have used foreign exchanges that say they ban US users, suggesting that many of the purchasers are based outside the US.

Buyers of the Trump token, a cryptocurrency the president began marketing days before his inauguration, drove sales higher in the past two weeks after its issuers announced an unprecedented promotion: More than 200 of the memcoin's largest holders would be invited to attend a May 22 dinner with Trump at his Virginia golf club, while the top 25 would qualify for an exclusive reception beforehand and what the memecoin's website describes as a "VIP" tour.

I'd be interested to hear how the anti-corruption TrumpFans spin this one. Remember how you were all so worked up about Hunter Biden allegedly trading on access to his father and paying off Joe in return? Here's Trump doing exactly that, out in the open.

'We don’t need anything they have"--Trump to Canada

Recent trade numbers from Statistics Canada regarding trade between the US and Canada.

Exports to the United States fall

With the implementation of the new tariffs in March, exports to the United States decreased 6.6%, a second consecutive monthly decline following the strong ramp up in exports to the United States that led to a record in January. Despite the recent decreases, Canadian exports to the United States were 2.5% higher in March 2025 compared with November 2024. Meanwhile, imports from the United States fell 2.9% in March. Canada's merchandise trade surplus with the United States went from $10.8 billion in February to $8.4 billion in March.

Meanwhile, exports to countries other than the United States jump

Following a 12.4% decrease in February, exports to countries other than the United States rose 24.8% in March, representing the second-largest percentage increase on record. Exports to the United Kingdom (unwrought gold), the Netherlands (crude oil), Hong Kong (crude oil) and Germany (various products) increased the most for the month. Meanwhile, imports from countries other than the United States were up 1.0% in March. Canada's trade deficit with countries other than the United States narrowed from a record $12.2 billion in February to $9.0 billion in March.

Just as China since the last Trump trade war actively reduced dependency on US exports, other countries will actively do the same. Yes, America has great demand for foreign products and this trade war is not going to change that. However, countries like businesses need consistency. And you can't get that if American voters put in charge of trade a administration led by a convicted con man who regularly had to file for bankruptcy who has no clue how trade works.

Fighter Jets Are Falling Off USS Harry S Truman

It's starting to look like carelessness...

The Office of the Secretary of Defense referred all questions about the incidents to the Navy and US Central Command. CNN has reached out to the Navy and CENTCOM for comment.

The loss of the fighter jet comes one week after another F/A-18 jet fell overboard the Truman. That time, initial reports indicated that the Truman made a hard turn to evade Houthi fire, which contributed to the fighter jet falling overboard.

An individual F/A-18 fighter jet costs more than $60 million, according to the Navy.

Televangelist Jim Bakker Says He Needs A Million Bucks Or 'I'll Be Out On The Street'

“If they foreclose on this ministry, they will take my house too, so I’ll be on the street,” he said.

Bakker claimed he hasn’t taken a salary himself and has no money of his own.

“We have a big debt,” he said, adding that an unnamed “they” has “taken millions of dollars from us.”

One of the show’s co-hosts indicated the financial problems began in 2020, when Bakker was in trouble with a number of authorities for hawking “Silver Solution” during the COVID-19 pandemic. In one case, he reached a settlement with the Missouri attorney general that included restitution of $156,000.

In more recent years, Bakker has fashioned himself as something of a doomsday prophet ― saying on Tuesday, for example, that we’re in the “end times” ― and has been selling food buckets and other “prepper” items on his show and website.

Jim Bakker Is Now Using His End Times Broadcast to Warn About Zombies

“Zombies that are on the Earth are a disease like any other disease that affects people, and they become like zombies. Is that right?” Bakker asked.

“That’s only part of the story,” Quayle replied. “Zombies also have the evil spiritual entity known as demon possession.”

“The best way to explain zombies’ blood lust is this: the appetite of demons expressed through humans,” Quayle continued. “It should be astonishing to people that the richest people in the world—not all of them but some of them—are into occult ceremonies where they have to drink blood that’s extracted from a tortured child. Now that’s sick, but that’s the appetite of demons expressed through humans.”

“They can induce zombieism, at least the appetite for human flesh,” he added.

India VS Pakistan

I'm surprised this isn't being talked about more as the illegal immigration arrests have taken precedence.

Pam Bondi Announces One of the Largest Fentanyl Busts in US History

Pam Bondi Announces One of the Largest Fentanyl Busts in US History

Authorities have carried out one of the largest fentanyl busts in U.S. history after they seized 11.5 kilos which included millions of pills, a move that was announced by Attorney General Pam Bondi Tuesday.
According to Fox News, Bondi said sixteen people were arrested and six involved were in the U.S. illegally.
Along with the fentanyl, another 35 kilos of methamphetamine, 7.5 kilos of cocaine, and 4.5 kilos of heroin was also seized, as well as $5 million in cash and a stash of rifles and pistols.
Bondi said one of the Sinaloa Cartel’s top-ranking members, Alberto Salazar Amaya, was the leader of the drug ring and had been living in Salem, Oregon. Drugs were being distributed as far as Albuquerque, New Mexico, Phoenix, Arizona, and Utah.
First he closed the borders within days of taking office and now his administration is actively going after gangs and getting seizures.

We didn't need more legislation - just a new President.
